SPODAK DENTAL GROUP Safely Reopens to Care for Community Members

DELRAY BEACH, Fla. -- It's been a trying time for everyone during the Coronavirus pandemic, but the Spodak Dental Group (SDG) team is reopening their doors to provide needed dental care to their community members. After following the Center for Disease Control (CDC), American Dental Association (ADA) and Gov. DeSantis' guidelines for flattening the Coronavirus curve for the past several weeks, the SDG team will begin seeing all current and future patients for emergency and routine dental procedures starting Monday, May 11.

"We've taken measures to ensure a very cautious reopening route with a goal to open sustainably, safely, and for the long term," said Dr. Craig Spodak, general dentist at Spodak Dental Group. "In fact, the safety measures we've put in place are above and beyond the recommended CDC and dental board guidelines, so we are confident we are doing all that we can to ensure the safety of our patients, team and community."

The SDG team has taken careful consideration to implement health-focused additions to the company's standard of care, with a goal to provide the highest level of care possible and ensure a safe environment for both patients and team members.

Rotating Teams

In an effort to offer continuous service to patients, the office will be open from Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. and teams will treat patients in two shifts. One team will serve patients from Monday through Wednesday, and the second team will serve patients from Thursday through Saturday.

Safety Protocols

While safety has always been a top priority for the entire team, the SDG team has implemented new and additional protocols and personal protective equipment to elevate their safety standards to the next level. A thermal scanner will be used to register the body temperate of all patients and team members prior to anyone entering the building. Additionally, all patients will be asked COVID-related questions when making an appointment, confirming an appointment, and at the time of the appointment.

LEED Gold Certified Facility

Not only does the Gold LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Facility have 66% more fresh air than than code requires, but 88% of the building is lit by sunlight, which research shows is germicidal and bactericidal. They've also installed UVC air filtration systems, which kills any germs or bacteria that can cause sickness, and perform nightly disinfecting protocols with high-grade cleaning products and a fogger that kills the COVID-19 virus.

Since 1976, the Spodak Dental Group, a 2017 Inc. 5000 honoree, has evolved to become South Florida's premier, comprehensive dental facility, and comprises a world-class association of dental professionals poised to provide full-service dental care second-to-none in both scope and skill. The Spodak Dental Group team includes General and Restorative Dentists, Endodontists, Periodontists, Board Certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, Master Ceramic Artists and Anesthesiologists, as well as one of the nation's only in-office dental labs.

SDG is partnering with All-Star Smiles Foundation, a non-profit organization with a mission to create a unique experience with an alliance of dentists, athletes and community partners that provides access to uncompromised dental care for underserved children in our communities.

Tooth decay is largely preventable, but it remains one of the most common diseases of childhood, and is five times as common as asthma and seven times as common as hay fever, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

During the entire month of February 2020, SDG will donate $50 from each Invisalign case accepted that month with proceeds going directly to the All-Star Smiles Foundation to screen and treat local children who are in need of dental care. The goal is to help 100 children receive free dental treatment.

WHERE: Spodak Dental Group, 3911 W. Atlantic Ave., Delray Beach, FL 33445

WHY: "This is an amazing opportunity to provide charitable giving to children who desperately need dental care," said Dr. Craig Spodak, general dentist. "Dental pain is the No. 1 reason a child will visit the emergency room or miss school. It's up to us to provide the care they need so they can either avoid unnecessary pain by treating smaller issues now, or helping them to get out of pain so they can get back to being a kid."

Spodak Dental Group Gifts New Smile to Recovering Mother in Need

DELRAY BEACH, Fla. -- When Dr. Craig Spodak was approached by Liz Quirantes of WPEC CBS 12 regarding a mother who needed help with her smile, there was no hesitation. Before long, Ashley Roberts not only had the smile she's always dreamed of, but she was also given another chance at turning her life around.

"I can't explain it. I feel ... it's a dream come true," said Roberts, who reached out to Quirantes for help. Roberts was homeless and addicted to opioids for 10 years, often sleeping in Kelsey Park in Lake Park, Fla., when she reached out to Quirantes for help. After making a few calls, Quirantes was able to get her into a treatment program where she could start to rebuild her life.

Now sober for a year, she realized that her addiction not only cost her her job and her family, but also her smile. So, she reached out to Quirantes again and asked for help with her smile and her ill-fitting dentures. This is when Dr. Craig Spodak of Spodak Dental Group was brought in to help.

After a few appointments with the surgical team, Roberts was given a full mouth restoration with permanent upper and lower dental implants. The entire treatment, totaling $56,000, was donated to Roberts.

"I literally cannot wait to give her that mirror," Dr. Spodak said just before the final reveal. "It's the most transformational thing. I can tell you it's for her, but I know better after 21 years of doing this, this is really for me. The getting is in the giving in this case."

Since 1976, the Spodak Dental Group, a 2017 Inc. 5000 honoree, has evolved to become South Florida's premier, comprehensive dental facility, and comprises a world-class association of dental professionals poised to provide full-service dental care second-to-none in both scope and skill. Donated candy was not only shipped to Operation Gratitude for inclusion in care packages to U.S. Service Members deployed overseas, but was also distributed to local first responders, service members and underserved community members.

Dr. Craig Spodak said his team is proud to participate in the Operation Gratitude Halloween Give-Back Program to reduce excess sugar consumption, prevent dental decay, and teach children the importance of saying "thank you" to all who serve.

"While tooth decay is largely preventable, it remains one of the most common diseases of childhood. Giving kids a reason to not indulge in sweets around this time of the year will help to keep their smiles healthy."

"Operation Gratitude's mission is to thank all who serve, forging strong bonds between grateful Americans and the Heroes who serve and protect them," according to Kevin Schmiegel, Lieutenant Colonel, USMC (Ret.) and CEO of Operation Gratitude. "The Halloween Candy Give-Back Program provides every American child the opportunity to learn about service, sacrifice and generosity."

Candy and handwritten letters and drawings were collected at Spodak Dental Group, located at 3911 W. Atlantic Ave., the week of November 4 during normal business hours. Spodak Dental Group gave kids $1 per pound, up to 5 pounds maximum.

Spodak Dental Group Offers Minimally-Invasive Laser Treatment for Gum Disease

DELRAY BEACH, Fla. -- Spodak Dental Group now offers a patient-friendly outpatient treatment for gum disease, the LANAP(R) protocol. Gum disease is an infection of the tissues that support the teeth, and impacts more than 50% of American adults. The LANAP(R) protocol is the only FDA-cleared laser treatment proven to regenerate bone loss to gum disease without cutting or stitching of the gums.

"We're pleased to offer our patients technologically advanced treatment options that fit with today's busy lifestyles. Through the LANAP(R) protocol, we can offer patients a comfortable laser-based surgical option for gum disease to help save teeth," said Dr. Tiffany Dudley, general dentist at Spodak Dental Group. "The procedure is fast, often painless, and patients resume daily activities immediately."

In the initial stages of the disease, gums can become red, swollen and bleed easily. However, some patients have no symptoms at all. If the condition worsens, gums and bone that support the teeth can become seriously damaged and the teeth can become loose, fall out or have to be removed. Gum disease has been linked to serious systemic diseases including stroke, heart disease, Alzheimer's and certain cancers.

Dr. Dudley strongly urges patients with gum disease to seek treatment as soon as they can. The earlier laser dentistry services are received, the more positive the outcome. Appointments can be scheduled by calling or texting Spodak Dental Group at (561) 303-2413.

The LANAP(R) protocol offers a proven, vastly less painful and less invasive treatment. It is also the only laser gum surgery backed with histological and clinical science. By reducing post-operative pain, the number of sessions required and the recovery time, the LANAP(R) treatment removes many of the reasons that so many patients hesitate to seek treatment for periodontal disease.

Improving Health: Delray Beach Dentist Offers A Better Night’s Sleep

DELRAY BEACH, Fla. -- Local dentist, Dr. Tiffany Dudley is now helping Delray Beach, Florida, residents get a more restful night's sleep. Dr. Dudley of Spodak Dental Group recently became an American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine (ABDSM) Diplomate.

ABDSM is the board for the leading national organization for dentists who treat snoring and obstructive sleep apnea with oral appliance therapy. Earning Diplomate status from the ABDSM is a unique honor that recognizes special competency in dental sleep medicine.

"Sleeping with a CPAP machine, which includes a face mask, tubing and a constantly running motor, can be difficult, and many Delray Beach residents are unaware that an effective - and comfortable - treatment is available," said Dr. Tiffany Dudley, general dentist at Spodak Dental Group. "I'm committed to using my knowledge of dental sleep medicine to help treat my patients' snoring and sleep apnea, and provide Delray Beach residents with a better night's rest."

While CPAP is the standard treatment for sleep apnea, the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine estimates up to 50 percent of sleep apnea patients do not comply with or tolerate CPAP. In contrast to a CPAP machine, oral appliances are a mouth guard-like device worn only during sleep to maintain an open, unobstructed airway. Patients like oral appliance therapy because it is comfortable, easy to wear, quiet, portable and easy to care for.

"Oral appliance therapy is an effective treatment option that offers a higher rate of patient compliance than CPAP," Dr. Dudley said. "I work with my patients and their sleep physicians to identify the right oral appliance device, custom fit the device for each patient, and make any needed adjustments to ensure an open airway and a more restful sleep."

Patients with loud snoring and diagnosed sleep apnea sufferers with difficulty tolerating CPAP should contact Dr. Dudley to schedule a complimentary consultation appointment. She also works closely with physicians to treat snoring and obstructive sleep apnea.
