Prince George’s County Public Schools in Maryland Selects Synergy Education Platform

UPPER MARLBORO, Md. -- Edupoint® Educational Systems today announced that Prince George's County Public Schools (PGCPS) has selected the company's industry-leading Synergy® Education Platform for its K-12 student information and learning management needs. The district's solution will include Synergy Student Information System (SIS), Synergy Online Registration, Synergy MTSS, and Synergy Analytics, to be hosted in the Synergy AWS Cloud environment. PGCPS is one of the 20 largest school districts in the country, serving over 128,000 students across 206 schools in Maryland's Capital Region adjacent to Washington, D.C.

PGCPS set out to find a modern, intuitive SIS to replace its current 15-year-old system. After researching the marketplace and speaking with peers in nearby districts, the team at PGCPS selected three products to evaluate in depth. First, the IT team investigated all three solutions to ensure they met requirements around core functionality. Next, a cross-functional stakeholder group - consisting of more than 60 parents, students, teachers, secretaries, principals, IT staff, and other central office department leaders - attended a "demo day" and rated the products on user-friendliness of the interface, mobile responsiveness, system accessibility and scalability, software customization, integration with other systems, and communication. In the final round, schedulers from five middle and high schools, along with 23 staff from the district's accountability, academics, and student services teams undertook a deeper exploration of system functionality around scheduling, data analysis, and reporting. After emerging as a demo-day favorite, Synergy Education Platform clinched the top spot in the final round.

Synergy Education Platform is a comprehensive ecosystem that combines student information management, MTSS, analytics, special education, and more in one seamless platform that includes a powerful suite of native, role-based mobile apps. With Synergy, PGCPS will get a state-of-the-art platform capable of meeting the varied needs of the district's broad user base while keeping pace with advancements and innovations within the district and in K-12 public education more generally. Synergy includes powerful tools that facilitate convenient communication districtwide, including between schools and with parents and students. The MTSS module will allow teachers and interventionists to access all student data in one place, eliminating the need to log into an additional system to access SIS data.

"Synergy consistently ranked very high on customer service and product support based on feedback from our colleagues in benchmarked districts," said Andrew Zuckerman, EdD, Chief Information and Technology Officer at PGCPS. "And throughout the evaluation process, Synergy consistently earned the highest marks from our stakeholder evaluators."

"Our audience was impressed with Synergy and the Edupoint team," said Jinghong Gao, Director of Technology Applications-Student Support at the district. "The flexibility the system can provide us with its configurability and workflow definition features really stood out in the demonstrations. We are enthusiastic about the potential for building processes to support our needs in Synergy rather than having to rely on third-party systems. The two-way communication capabilities between schools and with parents and students were also exciting to see and will fill a gap we have in our current system."

"Prince Georges County Public Schools needed a modern student data management system to replace its legacy system and open up new possibilities for efficiencies and enhancements," said Bob Weathers, Founder and CEO at Edupoint. "Synergy Education Platform, with its seamlessly integrated, comprehensive functionality, is perfectly positioned to support the amazing PGCPS team in this regard. We are thrilled to partner with the district to upgrade the technical toolset available to the talented team there in order to meet the varied needs of all stakeholders."

Edupoint Selects Wyoming Public Schools in Michigan for its 8th Annual Partner for Life Award

MESA, Ariz. -- Edupoint® Educational Systems, creator of the industry-leading Synergy® Education Platform for K-12 student information and learning management, today announced that Wyoming Public Schools (WPS) has been selected as the recipient of the company's eighth annual Partner for Life Award. Edupoint Founder and CEO Bob Weathers presented the award to Deb Sellers, Data/Training Specialist for WPS, on Nov. 2 at the 2023 Synergy Connect Users Conference in Orlando, Florida.

Located near Grand Rapids, Michigan, Wyoming Public Schools began using Synergy in 2011 to support the district's 4,000 students and staff across nine buildings. Over the years, Wyoming's use of Synergy has evolved to include hosting and mentoring to four neighboring school districts, supporting a combined population of more than 12,000 students.

WPS and the districts it supports elected to adopt Synergy as their common student information system in order to better collaborate across districts as well as with Edupoint. The Wyoming technology department takes a leading role in supporting all aspects of that collaboration, coordinating the rollout of new releases, recruiting users to pilot new features, taking feedback from end users, and communicating those feedback points to Edupoint.

"My passion is making everyone's lives a little easier," said Sellers. "You really have to listen to what people's needs are and how to help them. The more success our teachers have with the technology that we provide for them, the more successful our students will be."

"Over the years, the Edupoint team has had the pleasure of seeing Wyoming Public Schools leverage the Synergy platform's functionality, and in particular its customization and automation capabilities, to maximize what the district can do despite the small size of its technology team," said Bob Weathers, Founder and CEO at Edupoint. "The Wyoming team consistently approach new product features and solutions with enthusiasm and a mindset for innovation, and have been outstanding partners to Edupoint for more than a decade. I am delighted to recognize Wyoming as this year's Partner for Life Award recipient."

Edupoint has awarded $10,000 to Wyoming Public Schools to be granted as a student scholarship.

Bethlehem Area School District (Pennsylvania) Selects Synergy Education Platform

BETHLEHEM, Pa. -- Edupoint® Educational Systems announced today that Bethlehem Area School District (BASD) has selected the company's industry-leading Synergy® Student Education Platform for its K-12 student data management needs. The district's solution will include Synergy Student Information System, Synergy Online Registration, Synergy MTSS, and Synergy Special Education, and will be hosted in the Synergy AWS Cloud environment. BASD serves over 13,300 students across 22 schools in the Lehigh Valley region of eastern Pennsylvania.

Bethlehem district leadership assembled a team to explore current industry offerings and evaluate their ability to offer improvements in efficiency and effectiveness. Over a period of six months, 67 participants representing a wide variety of roles at all levels of the organization - including secretaries, teachers, principals, assistant principals, and applications specialists, in addition to the district technology team - contributed feedback on the solutions under consideration. After extensive evaluation, including hosting week-long software demonstrations with three finalists, the team selected Synergy based on a number of key factors, including the following:

* Integrated student information, special education, and MTSS management

* Streamlining of special education and MTSS processes

* Robust query, reporting, and decision support tools

* Timely, reliable data

* Federal and state reporting capabilities

* An established and growing presence in Pennsylvania

The district also sought a vendor with a long-term commitment to building and supporting its solutions in-house - a criterion that only Edupoint was able to meet.

"We didn't want multiple separate systems," said Marie Bachman, Chief Technology Officer at BASD. "We wanted to give our teachers an improved user experience, greater access to students' special education information, and a better system for MTSS - all of which will enhance their ability to support students. Teachers are excited about these modules, which work together and are built right into the interface that they will already be using for everyday tasks."

"With Synergy, Bethlehem Area School District is getting a student data management system that will aid in eliminating unnecessary data-entry and integration busywork so stakeholders can focus their time on higher priorities, including supporting students and improving learning outcomes," said Rob Wilson, Edupoint's President and Chief Innovation Officer. "The seamless integration built into Synergy Education Platform will make a significant contribution, as well, to the district's efforts to improve data governance. We are pleased to welcome BASD aboard as an Edupoint partner."

Pleasanton Unified School District (CA) Selects Synergy SIS

PLEASANTON, Calif. -- Edupoint® Educational Systems announced today that Pleasanton Unified School District (PUSD) has selected the company's industry-leading Synergy® Student Information System (SIS) to replace its current system from Aequitas for its K-12 student data management needs. The district's Synergy solution will include Synergy SIS and Synergy Online Registration hosted on Edupoint's AWS Cloud Hosting platform. PUSD is located in the greater San Francisco Bay area, where it serves over 14,000 students.

Pleasanton Unified School District needed to replace its SIS with a modern system providing comprehensive functionality, ease of use, and the security benefits that come with world-class cloud hosting. The district took advantage of California's Ed Tech Joint Powers Authority consortium purchasing agreement to accelerate the selection process, inviting 10 focus groups - comprised of teachers, principals, and classified staff from across the district - to participate in the selection process from needs assessment through scoring, product demos, and reference checks. PUSD selected Synergy SIS based on the product's functional capabilities, the company's strengths as a vendor partner, and local references.

Synergy SIS is a comprehensive student information management system that goes beyond the boundaries of a traditional SIS, providing the real-time student data that educators need to improve learning outcomes for students while helping districts streamline processes, increase collaboration, and advance equity. As the foundation of the Synergy Education Platform ecosystem, Synergy SIS makes it easy for districts to extend capabilities as needs change, with seamlessly integrated modules for online registration, learning management, MTSS, assessment, special education management, and analytics, as well as a powerful suite of native, role-based mobile apps.

"The district was looking for a modern and robust database system for the long haul," said Robert Torres, Chief Technology Officer at PUSD. "Simply put, the Synergy platform fit the bill. During the vetting process our district found a partner committed to ensuring the success of the project and beyond."

"With Synergy, Pleasanton Unified School District is getting a robust and secure student data management solution that offers not only all of the latest bells and whistles, but also the ease of use and time savings that provide significant everyday value for users," said Bob Weathers, Founder and CEO at Edupoint. "We are pleased to be partnering with PUSD in its modernization journey and supporting the district in its mission of preparing students to 'make a better world.'"

Edupoint Selects Gwinnett County Public Schools for 7th Annual Partner for Life Award

MESA, Ariz. -- Edupoint® Educational Systems, creator of the industry-leading Synergy® Education Platform for K-12 student information and learning management, is pleased to announce that Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) has been selected as the recipient of the company's seventh annual Partner for Life Award. Edupoint Founder and CEO Bob Weathers presented the award to Debbie Durrence, Ed.D., Executive Director for GCPS's Department of Data Governance, at the 2022 Synergy Connect Users Conference last month at the Opryland Resort in Nashville, Tennessee.

Gwinnett County Public Schools is one of the largest school districts in the country, serving a diverse population of approximately 181,000 students across 144 schools in 20 geographic "clusters." The district has nearly doubled in size since 2010, while retaining its collaborative, student-centered culture through the prioritization of teachers and staff support for teachers.

The relationship between Edupoint and GCPS has been one of mutual trust and partnership from the beginning. Gwinnett licensed the full suite of Synergy Education Platform modules in 2014, becoming the first Edupoint client to launch the Synergy Online Registration module before going live with Synergy Student Information System. The district was also an early adopter of Synergy MTSS and the first in Georgia to use Synergy Special Education.

"As we've been able to work with different Edupoint staff and engage in collaborative partnerships around projects, we've become not just a vendor and a school district, but true partners in every sense of the word," said Durrence. "We know that we can come to the table to solution together what will best meet the needs of our students, staff, and families."

"From the start, we have had a unique relationship with Gwinnett County Public Schools," said Bob Weathers, Founder and CEO at Edupoint. "Since the very beginning with the rollout of Synergy Online Registration they have always been interested in maximizing the use of technology to improve processes and better serve their constituents. Working closely together, we have developed a strong mutual trust and respect for each other, and this has helped lay the foundation for the steadfast partnership we have today. I am pleased to recognize Gwinnett County Public Schools as this year's Partner for Life Award recipient."

Edupoint has awarded $10,000 to Gwinnett County Public Schools to be granted as a student scholarship.

Lake Zurich Community Unit School District 95 (Illinois) Selects Synergy Student Information System

LAKE ZURICH, Ill. -- Edupoint® Educational Systems announced today that Lake Zurich Community Unit School District 95 (LZCUSD) has selected the company's industry-leading Synergy® Student Information System (SIS) for its student data management needs. The district's solution will include Synergy SIS and Synergy Online Registration, hosted in the Synergy Cloud environment. LZCUSD serves over 5,500 students across eight schools northwest of Chicago.

Lake Zurich leadership began looking for a new SIS after determining that the district's technology plan for the next decade would require moving to a more flexible, forward-thinking system. They launched a thorough and inclusive multi-step process that involved nurses, teachers, principals, secretaries, parents, and students from the requirements gathering stage. After online and in-person demonstrations of three finalist systems, the core team selected Synergy SIS for its flexibility, forward-thinking design, and wide-ranging functionality.

Synergy SIS balances ease of use with a degree of control that is unmatched in the marketplace. Synergy provides schools and districts with exceptional data access and reporting capabilities, powerful tools for streamlining and automating processes, extensive customization options, and best-in-class data security. The built-in TeacherVUE® Portal With Gradebook gives teachers a single place to access attendance and seating charts, a 360° profile of every student, and tools for analyzing student progress and standards proficiency. The ParentVUE® and StudentVUE® portals provide families with unprecedented access to grades, assignments, progress indicators, and teacher communication. Role-based mobile apps offer convenience for teachers, administrators, special education teams, counselors, health staff, parents, and students.

"We felt like we were picking the best of the best," said Phillip Howard, Executive Director of Technology at Lake Zurich. "It met 913 of our 915 functional requirements. That's pretty great. The mobile-first posture was really compelling. So was the ability to directly access the database. We liked that Synergy would allow us to customize every screen to our heart's content despite being a full-featured product off-the-shelf. The user interface was thoughtfully laid out and scored high for ease of use. Plus, it's a one-stop shop - we didn't have to buy a bunch of add-ons or systems that would need support from a third party."

As part of the seamless Synergy Education Platform ecosystem, Synergy SIS enables schools and districts to easily extend functionality to include online registration, MTSS, assessment, analytics, learning management, and special education management in a single platform.

"Lake Zurich CUSD's search for a new student information system was about more than just software," said Rob Wilson, President and Chief Innovation Officer at Edupoint. "It was about finding the right partnership to take the district into the future. At Edupoint we work hard to be that partner and were pleased that the evaluation team saw the evidence in our product. We look forward to supporting the district in achieving its goals and fulfilling its mission to 'empower every learner to achieve personal excellence.'"

Education reEnvisioned BOCES (Colorado) Selects Synergy Student Information System

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- Edupoint® Educational Systems announced today that Education reEnvisioned BOCES has selected the company's industry-leading Synergy® Student Information System (SIS) for its own student data management needs as well as those of its member schools. The BOCES represents 12 schools serving 5,000 students.

Education reEnvisioned offers choice to Colorado families, authorizing and overseeing brick-and-mortar schools, online schools, and homeschool enrichment programs. The BOCES is driven by a belief in the importance of providing varied options to meet the diverse and unique needs of children and is the largest authorizer of online schools in the state. Member schools include multi-district online schools, brick-and-mortar schools, microschools, and homeschool enrichment programs that include areas such as music, art, and canyoneering.

Synergy SIS provides schools and districts with powerful tools for streamlining and automating processes, exceptional data access and reporting capabilities, extensive customization options, and best-in-class data security. The built-in TeacherVUE® Portal With Gradebook gives teachers a single place to access attendance and seating charts, a 360-degree profile of every student, assignments and grading, and built-in data analysis tools that facilitate tracking student progress, differentiating instruction, and responding quickly to students who require extra support.

The gradebook integrates with in-demand classroom tools such as Google for Education™ apps - including Google Classroom™ - and over 400 LTI learning apps. The ParentVUE® and StudentVUE® portals give parents and students unprecedented web and mobile access to grades, assignments, and communication with teachers.

Education reEnvisioned leadership began looking for a SIS after rapidly increasing enrollment challenged the cooperative's manual state reporting process.

"We needed a system that would enable us to seamlessly meet Colorado state reporting requirements," said Dan Snowberger, Director of Education Operations at Education reEnvisioned, "but we also have 12 schools with very different needs that will be using Synergy for student data management. We're not an organization that feels like everyone has to do exactly the same thing, so the platform's flexibility was key for us. We needed a solution that was fiscally responsible as well, and Synergy was affordable. Plus, Edupoint has an amazing team, which was a major factor in helping us decide."

As part of the seamless Synergy Education Platform ecosystem, Synergy SIS enables schools and districts to easily extend functionality to include online registration, MTSS, assessment, analytics, learning management, and special education management in a single platform that also features a unique suite of native, role-based mobile apps.

"With Synergy SIS, Education reEnvisioned BOCES is getting an extremely powerful and flexible student data management solution designed to support everyday needs and navigate both anticipated and unanticipated changes in the education landscape," said Bob Weathers, Founder and CEO at Edupoint. "We're pleased to welcome the BOCES to the Synergy family and look forward to working together to support the diverse needs of Colorado students."
