‘I am Lauderhill’ Campaign Features City’s Police Officers – Short Form Videos Reveal Fun Facts about Local Law Enforcement

LAUDERHILL, Fla. -- The City of Lauderhill has launched a new video campaign featuring local police officers sharing fun facts about themselves. The "I am Lauderhill-We are Lauderhill" segments are emailed to residents and other subscribers in the City's official newsletter, Lauderhill Living and posted on social media. City officials in collaboration with the consulting firm RMA (www.rma.us.com) developed a plan to foster stronger connections between the community and law enforcement by focusing on officers' local roots, hobbies, favorite sports teams, and music, along with other engaging aspects of their personalities.

"Through this campaign police officers reveal themselves as the neighbors, friends and family members they are," said Leslie Johnson, Director of Public Relations and Cultural Arts. "These videos have been a tremendous tool in our overall campaign to enhance the positive connection between our officers and residents."

RMA was hired to develop a strategic communications plan for the City, with special emphasis on creating new avenues to engage the community with law enforcement. This initiative was conceived well before the recent headlines, but its implementation has come at a most opportune time.

"During our biweekly collaborative meetings with the City's leadership, we agreed that it was imperative for Lauderhill's residents to feel comfortable calling the police not only in an emergency, but also to report critical information," said Sharon McCormick, RMA's Director of Business Attraction & Marketing. "The goal of this campaign, coupled with prior initiatives by the Lauderhill Police Department, is to change the preconceived notions that some residents had about police in general, by creating a safe environment for relationship-building."

The email and social media campaign also allows the police department to share success stories about cases closed through the very popular segment, "Just Don't, You Will Get Caught!" This section of the email showcases the dedication of local law enforcement in their pursuit of catching criminals, leading to a safe environment for their residents.

In addition, the campaign features regular messages from Chief Constance Stanley. As an African-American woman, who leads a large police force, her words resonate. Chief Stanley's impassioned letter to the community in the wake of George Floyd's death was a powerful message about racial injustice, the need for accountability, and an earnest plea for unity and dialogue. She has followed that message up with regular communications highlighting Lauderhill's comprehensive crime-fighting strategy, which is built on facilitating and maintaining positive communication and collaboration.

About RMA:

Founded in 2009 by Kim Briesemeister and Chris Brown, RMA is comprised of a phenomenal team of leading experts in economic development, real estate for governments, marketing, urban design, and financial analysis. RMA, headquartered in Pompano Beach, Florida is a highly experienced, full-service economic redevelopment consulting and management firm, specializing in revitalizing core areas and corridors for cities, counties, and special districts nationwide. Spodak Dental Group Celebrates American Diabetes Month with Complimentary Sleep Apnea Consultations

DELRAY BEACH, Fla. -- November is American Diabetes Month and the Spodak Dental Group team is offering complimentary sleep apnea consultations to help patients treat their sleep apnea so they can better control their diabetes. Studies show that about 71% of people with diabetes may have sleep apnea.

Characterized as a chronic condition wherein a person suffers from pauses in breathing or takes shallow breaths during sleep, people with sleep apnea can actually stop breathing for 10 seconds or even up to a minute, many times throughout the night. These pauses in breathing make it more difficult to manage diabetes because they have been associated with insulin resistance leading to higher blood sugar levels, glucose intolerance and type 2 diabetes. Research also shows that an increase in severity of sleep apnea is correlated with poorer glucose control.

"It is incredibly important for those who suffer from diabetes to accurately diagnose and treat their sleep apnea because managing their sleep apnea will help them to better manage their diabetes," said Dr. Tiffany Dudley, general dentist at the Spodak Dental Group and American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine Diplomate.

During the month of November, Dr. Dudley is offering complimentary sleep apnea screenings and 30-minute virtual consultations. For those who have a moderate to high risk of sleep apnea, the Spodak Dental Group offers many different oral appliances for treatment. Most appliances can be made with digital impressions and are a comfortable option for those who want to avoid a CPAP machine.

To schedule a complimentary, 30-minute virtual sleep apnea consultation, please visit http://www.sdgvirtual.com/.

South Florida Entertainers Launch LiveSantaCalls.com – Offering Personalized Virtual Visits with Santa Claus

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- Acclaimed entertainers Michael Walters and Joe Zimmer have announced the launch of Live Santa Calls at LiveSantaCalls.com. This virtual video visit with Santa allows family members to personalize their child's holiday experience and add festive options including a cameo from Mrs. Claus, a story-time segment and even a video Christmas Card.

Visit https://livesantacalls.com/ today to schedule your special conversation with St. Nick!

With over 70 years of combined experience in entertainment and working as "The Man in Red," actors Michael Walters and Joseph Zimmer plan to meet with hundreds of children between now and December 25th to find out just what youngsters are hoping for this Christmas.

"We all know our kids have had a tough year," said Walters. "We see a real need here for families who normally visit with Santa Claus at the mall or a public event but won't be able to be close to him this year. Macys has cancelled their in-store Santa and others are doing visits with strict distancing. How can a child talk to Santa through a plastic wall?"

Walters adds, "With our Virtual Visits, you can skip the mall and keep the magic. Your child will have a meaningful visit with Santa with zero health risk. Thanks to existing video meeting technology, it's a perfect solution."

Zimmer, the company's other "Co-Santa" says that personalization and quality control are number one on his list when it comes to bringing Christmas magic to kids.

"There are big box services offering a video or a call from Santa," Zimmer says. "The problem is some Santas are better than others and those sites don't tell you who you're getting before the visit starts. Because we're a small company with just two seasoned Santas, you can preview and choose your Santa before you book. Michael (Walters) and I have been Santa for major theme parks, so we care a lot about kids and the experience of a really magical Christmas."

Virtual Visits with Santa through LiveSantaCalls.com start at $48.99 with additional options available to make visits extra special. Visit their website to book online.

Siperstein Dermatology Group Offers Only DermaGraphix Digital Mole Mapping and Artificial Intelligence Tracking Analysis in South Florida

BOCA RATON, Fla. -- Siperstein Dermatology Group now provides the DermaGraphix digital mole mapping and artificial intelligence tracking analysis that allows for the earlier detection and treatment of melanoma, and with fewer biopsies. Siperstein Dermatology Group (Boca Raton and Boynton Beach Florida) has always been on the forefront of medical technology. The group prides themselves on always having the most up-to-date systems and new technology to help patients.

Siperstein Dermatology Group is the only private practice in Florida, and the entire Southeast United States, that is able to employ the DermaGraphix and artificial intelligence technology. DermaGraphix is the most innovative mole mapping system available and helps dermatologists to more easily spot new moles and track changes to patients' moles - one of the possible signs of melanoma.

"Melanoma, when found early, is curable. However, if detection is delayed, it can be fatal," said Robyn Siperstein, medical doctor and founder of Siperstein Dermatology Group. "Baseline mole mapping and AI analysis not only helps to detect melanoma much earlier, but has also been found in studies to reduce the number of biopsies needed."

DermaGraphix mole mapping and tracking analysis uses a high-resolution, professional, digital SLR camera, advanced software and whole body photography to map a patient's entire skin surface, creating a photographic baseline. Artificial intelligence is then utilized as a way to accurately identify any change in the size, color and shape of lesions, as well as document any new lesions.

In addition, this system has an attached dermatoscope, which allows dermatologists to visualize and photograph individual moles using magnification and polarized light to better detect subtle changes in these moles and patterns that could be consistent with melanomas.

"Mole mapping is used in most of the melanoma clinics in university hospitals and cancer centers," said Thomas Bialoglow of Canfield Scientific, the leading supplier of medical photographic equipment, software and computer systems for patient imaging in medicine and research. "The powerful DermaGraphix system, which is in use at [Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center], is now only available at a few private practices in the United States."

Patients can take advantage of the DermaGraphix digital mole mapping and artificial intelligence tracking analysis by calling (561) 364-7774 or visiting https://www.sipderm.com/ to make an appointment.

Smart Growth Strategies in Pompano Beach Are Protecting City from COVID-19 Fiscal Stress

POMPANO BEACH, Fla. -- While other cities around the country are considering raising taxes, or already have, in response to budget shortfalls due to COVID-19, the Pompano Beach CRA has announced that residents of the City of Pompano Beach are experiencing one of the lowest tax rates in Broward County according to the recently released 2021 millage rates.

This financial stability is due in large part to the smart growth strategies that have been occurring in the City during the past few years. The City's investment in redevelopment and infrastructure has attracted quality private development bringing in new tax dollars and additional support for local businesses, allowing the City to maintain the tax rate.

"Leadership in Pompano Beach knew the importance of tapping into the City's real estate assets-- land and property, in order to create a more economically stable municipality," said Nguyen Tran, CRA Director. "By properly managing these assets and taking a proactive stance, we have been able to create new revenue streams to benefit the City and its residents, which also offer a layer of protection during unforeseen events like this pandemic."

Pompano Beach began its transformation in earnest in 2009. After decades of decline, a targeted, economically-driven plan was launched, making the City an attractive location to the private investment community. The City prepared for the growth by establishing development guidelines and zoning laws to protect the City from over development. This plan is working to eliminate blighted areas and enhance the quality of life for the community.

Developments such as Koi, Sabbia, Heritage at Pompano Station, Avery Place and the new restaurants and retailers at the Pier such as Beach House and Oceanic have added approximately $166 million in new property valuation and more than $1 million dollars in new property tax revenue to the City over the past few years. Between 2015 and 2019, the City has seen an increase of approximately $39 million or 39% in major tax and fee revenue sources including property taxes, half-cent sales taxes, state municipal revenue sharing, franchise and utility taxes, franchise fees and communication service taxes.

These enhanced revenue streams have allowed the City to maintain its financial stability even through the trying times of the COVID-19 pandemic. The 2021 millage rates were recently released, and out of 31 cities in Broward County, Pompano Beach is the 6th largest, yet it has the 11th lowest tax rate, according to the Broward County Property Appraiser's Office.

"Without the strategic growth policies that attracted this private investment, we would be under tremendous fiscal stress right now," continued Tran. "The economic impact of good growth has been extremely important for the long-term success of our City and the prosperity of our residents."

This development has been carefully managed to maximize the benefits including a strong tax base, job growth and small business support, while also addressing important resident concerns by regulating building height, creating walkable spaces and connectivity between projects and exploring ride sharing initiatives to manage traffic congestion and enhance mobility. Cities who invest in their public assets and build quality amenities for their residents tend to be the most fiscally stable. The City and CRA's investment in our public assets have been instrumental in attracting private sector investment.

It has two independent districts: Northwest CRA and East CRA established by City government for the purpose of carrying out redevelopment activities that include reducing or eliminating blight, improving the economic health of an area, and encouraging public and private investments in a CRA district.

The Florida Local Launches ‘The Local Catch’ Giveaway for Ultimate Old Florida Experience

HOMOSASSA SPRINGS, Fla. -- The Florida Local, a mobile traveling artisan market and lifestyle brand, recently launched a giveaway campaign to showcase the best of old Florida. This is the first of several planned campaigns and the lucky winner will enjoy an off the beaten path Florida adventure.

"We recently pivoted the business from a brick and mortar locale and are now taking the show on the road," Alonda McCarty, co-owner, the Florida Local, says. "We'll be traveling around the state in a vintage AVION camper representing Florida artisans, farmers and the best of what is authentically Florida. This giveaway is an ideal way to kick off our back-road adventures and share what we love with others around the state."

The Local Catch giveaway will take place in Homosassa Springs on the state's west coast and include a day of fishing with the Local Ladies, Alonda and Chelsea, as well as lady captain Kate Spratt, a catch of the day cookout and sunset cocktails at a favorite restaurant on the river. A photographer/videographer will join the lucky winners and document each step of the trip; some great outdoor gear swag will be given to winners by local partners too.

"We're passionate about Old Florida and want to share the stories of genuine people and places, from original artisans to picturesque fishing towns and back road farms to wild, shell-filled beaches," McCarty says.

Many Floridians still rely on recreational and commercial fishing for their income and The Florida Local knows the toll the pandemic has taken on their ability to make a living. That's part of the reason they're working to spotlight fishermen, artisans, farmers and other small businesses across the state.

For "The Local Catch" Giveaway, the Florida Local has partnered with Toadfish Outfitters, Captain Kate Spratt, How to Do Florida, Discover Florida, Florida Cracker Kitchen and others to offer an incredible giveaway package that showcases all of what Homosassa has to offer.

The Florida Local will be doing weekly posts on its Facebook and Instagram pages through October 31. To learn more about how to enter this amazing giveaway, visit:
