WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Sales Boomerang, the mortgage industry's top-rated automated borrower intelligence and retention system, today announced that Mike Spotten, vice president of product, was named a 2021 HW Tech Trendsetter by HousingWire Magazine. Now in its third year, the HW Tech Trendsetters award program highlights the leading players in the housing economy who drive innovation with advanced digital products and services.

As Sales Boomerang's VP of Product, Mike Spotten is leading the tech disruption of mortgage lending by continuously innovating Sales Boomerang's groundbreaking borrower intelligence products to deliver new competitive advantages for mortgage lenders. During the refi boom, Sales Boomerang noticed lenders were losing profits due to early loan payoffs (EPO) and Spotten immediately began working on a solution. Within one month, Sales Boomerang was able to release a new alert type that notifies lenders when a borrower might have an EPO, providing lenders the opportunity to re-engage with past clients and meet their refi needs before they switch lenders.

"I am humbled to have my achievements recognized by HousingWire, a publication that carries so much weight in the mortgage industry," said Spotten. "I strive for innovation because I stand by the Sales Boomerang mission of using data-driven solutions to ensure every borrower has access to the right loan, right when they need it."

HousingWire's Tech Trendsetters award program honors the 50 most influential and innovative technology leaders serving the housing industry. Receiving hundreds of nominations annually, the HousingWire editorial selection committee selects finalists based on professional achievements over the past 12 months.

"This year's list of Tech Trendsetters have, yet again, proven to be the driving force behind the digital transformation in housing," HousingWire Editor and Chief Sarah Wheeler said. "This impressive list of honorees are finding solutions to some of the industry's toughest challenges from improving the borrower's journey to streamlining every step of the real estate transaction process."

The complete list of 2021 HW Tech Trendsetters will be published in the December/January issue of HousingWire Magazine. View the lineup of honorees online at https://www.housingwire.com.

HousingWire Honors DocMagic’s Brian D. Pannell with 2020 Tech Trendsetters Award

20-1207-Brian-D-Pannell-696x522.jpg -- DocMagic, Inc., the premier provider of fully-compliant loan document preparation, regulatory compliance, and comprehensive eMortgage services, announced that its chief eServices executive, Brian D. Pannell, has received HousingWire's 2020 Tech Trendsetters award. Now in its second year, the prestigious award recognizes the most impactful and innovative technology leaders serving the housing economy.

HousingWire's editorial board selected a total of 50 winners based on their professional success over the last 12 months, as well as their overall career accomplishments for both their companies and the industry sector they represent. Winners came from various sectors of tech within the housing economy, including residential mortgage lending, servicing, investing, construction, and real estate.

"Our Tech Trendsetters award recognizes a group of leaders who were critical to the outstanding performance of housing and real estate during this pandemic, finding innovative solutions when everything changed on a dime," said HousingWire Editor in Chief Sarah Wheeler. "We're very proud to celebrate their achievements and honor the impact they've had at such a crucial time."

Brian D. Pannell's solution-oriented approach has helped countless lending entities go "e," positioning them for long-term success and positively impacting their ability to serve their customers during the pandemic.

Brian has been key in driving facilitation, implementation, and industry adoption of multiple DocMagic solutions. One of those solutions is Total eClose(TM), DocMagic's award-winning, single-source eClosing platform that removes all paper from the closing process while leveraging the precision-based accuracy of the company's intelligent, dynamic document generation capabilities.

In addition, Brian has been hands-on in implementing DocMagic's eVault and eNote processes-not just for lenders but also for other members of the supply chain. For example, he worked on Secured Party and Master Servicer/Subservicer for the support of MERS, the Federal Home Loan Banks, Ginnie Mae, and the gap in servicing support that is seen for servicers that don't have their own eVaults.

"I am truly honored to have been named to HW's 2020 class of Tech Trendsetters," Pannell said. "This year has been one of the most challenging in my career given the influx of requests to implement many of our solutions throughout the pandemic and refi boom that is setting volume records. But seeing all the hard work pay off for DocMagic's clients and partners has been very gratifying, and receiving the Tech Trendsetters award at the end of this long year makes it all worthwhile."

In 2020, Brian also helped implement AutoPrep, a new technology that enables DocMagic's Total eClose platform to accept documents from any source by "e-enabling" them for paperless eClosings.

Brian has and continues to serve as an invaluable resource to the mortgage industry as a subject matter expert on end-to-end eMortgage automation, eSigning, eNotarization, eNotes, eVaults, eClosing, eWarehouse lending, and more. He has helped countless lenders, technology service providers, GSEs, and investors understand the immense value of going "e." He's played a key part in where digital mortgages are headed and serves as both a leader and educator to evangelize the industry-wide benefits for the many organizations he works with.

"In its second year, the 2020 Tech Trendsetters once again surpassed all expectations as the housing industry rose up to meet unprecedented challenges," HousingWire Magazine Editor Kelsey Ramírez said. "This year's Tech Trendsetters represent shapers whose innovative solutions continue to inspire the industry."

NotaryCam’s Henry Smith Named 2020 HW Tech Trendsetter

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. -- NotaryCam(R), the pioneering leader in online notarization and original provider of mortgage eClosing solutions, today announced that Henry Smith, Director of Notary Operations, has been named a 2020 Tech Trendsetter by housing finance trade publication HousingWire as part of its second annual HW Tech Trendsetter Awards(TM) program, recognizing the most impactful and innovative technology leaders serving the housing economy.

With the onset of COVID-19, remote online notarization (RON) technology played a critical role not just in moving the housing market forward, but also keeping it from grinding to a complete halt. While helping NotaryCam to maintain its stellar reputation for customer service (and managing a tenfold-increase in month-over-month transactions), Smith also led the development of NotaryCam's remote ink notarization (RIN) product, as many states chose to authorize RIN in lieu of RON in their emergency orders, to ensure homebuyers and real estate professionals in every state could utilize the NotaryCam platform to complete their closing ceremony in accordance with their individual state's permanent and/or temporary authorization.

"Since joining NotaryCam in 2012, Henry has made himself an invaluable member of the team, evidenced once again by his performance in 2020," said NotaryCam founder and CEO Rick Triola. "Henry led the development of NotaryCam's Concierge Service to accommodate RIN, to help NotaryCam host a greater majority of remote closing ceremonies in a socially-distanced world. Additionally, he ensured NotaryCam's notaries were equipped to manage a 10x increase in demand for digital closings in the first half of the year."

HousingWire's 2020 Tech Trendsetters are made up of product and technology leaders who have been indispensable in bringing innovative tech solutions to market for housing industry clients. Similar to the HousingWire Tech100, which honors the 100 most innovative companies in mortgage and real estate tech, Tech Trendsetters recognize the people that drive innovation for their mortgage and real estate clients.

MCT’s COO Phil Rasori Honored with HousingWire Tech Trendsetters Award

SAN DIEGO, Calif. -- Mortgage Capital Trading, Inc. (MCT), a leading mortgage hedge advisory and secondary marketing software firm, announced that its COO, Phil Rasori, has been designated to HousingWire's inaugural Tech Trendsetters award list. Phil is credited with being instrumental in the architecture and launch of multiple innovative capital markets solutions.

The new HW program recognizes technology leaders driving innovation in the housing economy. The 50 chosen winners represent executive, product, and technology leaders who have played an integral role in bringing innovative solutions to market for housing industry clients at large, in particular over the past year.

HW acknowledged Phil's efforts in 2019 for launching one of the most important secondary marketing technology innovations in recent years. Phil spearheaded the development of TAM (Trade Auction Manager(TM)), a browser-based software module that enables a far more efficient bidding and trading process for TBA mortgage-backed securities (MBS) used by lenders to hedge their pipeline of open mortgage applications. TAM is increasing execution, liquidity, and transparency for lenders, while connecting them digitally with many of their broker-dealers for the first time.

"It is a great honor to be selected by HW as a recipient of their inaugural Tech Trendsetters award," stated Rasori. "MCT has launched many software solutions and supporting services to drive success for our lender clients. Winning this award underscores our latest innovations and reinforces our ongoing commitment to mortgage technology."

Also worth noting is Phil's creation and launch of BAM (Bid Auction Manager(TM)), a digital whole loan trading marketplace within MCT's cloud-based core secondary marketing platform, MCTlive! Since gaining widespread adoption by the investor community in 2018 (100% adoption - all investors now leverage BAM), the solution has saved lenders inordinate amounts of time, secured the entire process (which was previously handled via email communications), improved margins, and streamlined bid tape management and best execution loan sale analysis.

Most recently, Phil played a key role in developing a mobile app for MCTlive! that empowers secondary marketing managers to review reporting, manage loan pipelines, and conduct whole loan trading from the convenience of their mobile phone.

"Each year we honor the top technology companies in the housing industry, but this year we decided to do even more," HousingWire Associate Editor Kelsey Ramírez said. "This year, for the first time ever, we are looking at the people behind the technology. These experts are propelling the housing industry forward and reimagining the mortgage process."

"HousingWire has always recognized innovation and technological advancements in the housing industry, but none of those advancements happen without people leading the way," HousingWire Managing Editor Ben Lane said. "Technology doesn't simply create itself. People are the driving force behind those innovations. And it's in that spirit that we proudly honor the visionaries helping to push the housing industry into the future."

The full list of HW Tech Trendsetters can be found online and will also be profiled in the Oct./Nov. issue of HousingWire magazine. https://www.housingwire.com/articles/introducing-housingwires-2019-tech-trendsetters/.

NotaryCam’s Rick Triola Named a 2019 HousingWire Tech Trendsetter

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. -- NotaryCam(R), the leader in online notarization and original provider of mortgage eClosing solutions, today announced that its Founder and CEO Rick Triola has been named a 2019 Tech Trendsetter by HousingWire magazine as part of its inaugural HW Tech Trendsetter Awards(TM) program. In the magazine's profile on Triola, the HousingWire editorial staff noted that as the founder of NotaryCam, Triola brought remote online notarization (ROB) and remote online closing (ROC) technology to the industry and has been a driving force in RON/ROC adoption.

The HW Tech Trendsetter Award(TM) recognizes the technology leaders driving innovation in the housing economy. The winners represent executive, product and technology leaders who have played an integral role in bringing innovative solutions to market for housing industry clients at large. Triola's Trendsetter status comes not only from being the first to introduce RON and ROC technology to the housing industry, but also from leading the charge for adoption. As any good technologist knows, without adoption, the most innovative solution is all for naught. Thus, Triola has made it his mission to drive RON/ROC adoption by becoming a grassroots advocate for RON standards and legislation throughout the country.

Triola has devoted the last six years to advancing nationwide RON legalization. Recently, he undertook a grassroots campaign in Texas to educate county recorders about RON. Even though Texas passed its RON bill last year, many recorders - especially those not eRecording - were hesitant to record paper copies of eNotarized real estate documents. Thanks to Triola's efforts and six years of solid county recorder proof points across the U.S., Texas passed Senate Bill 2128 in May, providing recorders with more certainty regarding the recordability of eNotarized documents, with increased support from the state's recording community.

NotaryCam introduced RON to the Industry in early 2013 and pushed hard to set the standards, which have now been widely adopted. First, Triola presented NotaryCam's platform to Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac in January 2013 to garner GSE buy-in. From there, Triola addressed the National Association of Secretaries of State in June 2013 to introduce RON and neutralize opposition from the 49 states that had yet to legalize RON at that time. From there, Triola continued reaching out to all stakeholders, including individual title offices throughout the nation, and as a result, NotaryCam completed the first RON mortgage closing in early 2014 with a top 5 mortgage lender.

"As with so many mortgage-related innovations, widespread adoption is often hamstrung by lack of explicit regulatory approval, but the tide is turning for RON in this regard, especially over the last six years, as 22 states have now enacted or will enact RON legislation by October 1, 2020," Triola said. "Knowing the importance of the extensive eco-system buy-in for RON's success, NotaryCam has doubled down on its commitment to evangelizing RON at all state and private company levels to drive adoption, and I am truly honored that HousingWire has singled out my efforts in this regard by selecting me as one of its inaugural Tech Trendsetter winners."
