Mark Ladd Named 2019 PRIA Carl R. Ernst Founders Award Winner

PROVO, Utah -- Simplifile, a leading provider of real estate document collaboration and recording technologies for lenders, settlement agents and counties, today announced that its Vice President of Regulatory and Legal Affairs Mark Ladd was named the 2019 Carl R. Ernst Founders Award winner by Property Records Industry Association (PRIA).

Ladd is the sixth recipient of the Founders Award, which was established by PRIA in 2005, to recognize proven, unique leadership and achievement in resolving issues in the property records industry. The award was presented during a ceremony at the PRIA 2019 Annual Conference, which was held August 26-29 in Colorado Springs.

"Having been a Register of Deeds early on in my career, I am all too aware of the challenges facing the property records industry and, as such, have been deeply committed to helping the industry address these challenges through technology," Ladd said. "I'm truly honored to have been honored by my peers for these efforts and proudly join the ranks of the select few that have received the Founders Award."

Given his work with PRIA, the American Land Title Association (ALTA) and the Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA) via MISMO, there are very few, if any, aspects of the real estate industry that haven't benefited from Ladd's efforts and leadership over the course of his more than 20 years of experience. Before joining Simplifile in 2011 as Director of Channel Sales, Ladd acted as a consultant for the PRIA on its Technology Committee. As part of his role with PRIA, he also worked as the vice-chair of the Residential Governance Committee for the Mortgage Industry Standards Maintenance Organization (MISMO).

In 2014, Ladd was elected as the president of PRIA and in 2015, he received the Certified MISMO(R) Standards Professional Designation, the only MISMO certification program available for individuals within the mortgage industry. As the immediate past-president, Ladd continues to serve as an ex-officio member PRIA's Board of Directors and is also involved in the Uniform Law Commission's Revised Uniform Law on Notarial Acts (RULONA) Enactment Committee.

"Mark Ladd has been a tremendous asset not just to Simplifile, but to the entire real estate ecosystem. He is a tireless advocate for efficiency and innovation in real estate from both an operational and a regulatory standpoint, and his commitment to serving this industry is second to none," Simplifile President Paul Clifford said. "Simplifile is honored to count the latest PRIA Founders Award recipient as one of our own, and we wholeheartedly congratulate Mark on this well-deserved honor."

Westerly Becomes First Municipality in Rhode Island to Adopt E-recording

PROVO, Utah -- Simplifile, a leading provider of real estate document collaboration and recording technologies for lenders, settlement agents, and counties, today announced that the Town of Westerly has joined Simplifile's e-recording network following the July 1 passage of a law authorizing e-recording statewide in Rhode Island.

"This is a terrific development for Rhode Island settlement agents and municipal recorders, who have long expressed an interest in modernizing their recording processes," said Paul Clifford, president of Simplifile. "We're ready to help additional municipalities get up and running - a process that usually takes only days - so they can take advantage of e-recording's significant time and cost savings."

Through Simplifile, settlement agents can scan and submit land records directly to any of the 1,965 participating county recording offices. In just minutes, the county recorder can review, stamp, record and return documents to the settlement agent electronically. Simplifile Joins the Arbor Day Foundation’s Time for Trees Initiative

PROVO, Utah -- Simplifile, a leading provider of real estate document collaboration and recording technologies for lenders, settlement agents and counties, today announced that it is joining the Arbor Day Foundation for the launch of its Time for Trees(TM) initiative, a commitment to plant 100 million trees in forests and communities worldwide by 2022, alongside its partners. Simplifile has previously partnered with the Arbor Day Foundation in honor of Earth Month and has helped to plant 7,882 trees since 2014.

This year, Simplifile is sponsoring the planting of 2,289 trees with the Arbor Day Foundation. The trees will be planted in the Georgia Upper Altamaha Watershed, which the Arbor Day Foundation has identified as its greatest area of need. The Altamaha River watershed supports the largest concentration of rare species of any river in the state. More than 10 rare endangered plant and animal species are found in or along the river.

"We founded Simplifile Cares in 2015 because we wanted to be able to give back, not just to our community, but to worthy causes nationwide," said Simplifile President Paul Clifford. "Bringing together our employees, customers and communities to support the Arbor Day Foundation in its launch of the Time for Trees initiative is an honor, and we look forward to doing all we can to help drive awareness around trees as a scalable solution to the world's most critical environmental issues."

The Time for Trees initiative will leverage trees as a simple, powerful way to reverse the damage done by climate change and address the urgency of preserving the necessities of life - like clean air and water, healthy food and a livable climate - which are becoming increasingly compromised. This initiative is unique in that it will be powered by corporations, communities as well as individual citizens, showcasing the simplicity of tree planting - in one backyard or at scale. As part of this call to action, the Arbor Day Foundation is also inspiring 5 million tree planters to join in this initiative through existing partnerships and community programs.

"The Time for Trees initiative is an important step in protecting the necessities of life, but we can't do it alone. We're thrilled that partners like Simplifile are committed to coming together to drive change," said Dan Lambe, President of the Arbor Day Foundation.
