Lake Zurich Community Unit School District 95 (Illinois) Selects Synergy Student Information System

LAKE ZURICH, Ill. -- Edupoint® Educational Systems announced today that Lake Zurich Community Unit School District 95 (LZCUSD) has selected the company's industry-leading Synergy® Student Information System (SIS) for its student data management needs. The district's solution will include Synergy SIS and Synergy Online Registration, hosted in the Synergy Cloud environment. LZCUSD serves over 5,500 students across eight schools northwest of Chicago.

Lake Zurich leadership began looking for a new SIS after determining that the district's technology plan for the next decade would require moving to a more flexible, forward-thinking system. They launched a thorough and inclusive multi-step process that involved nurses, teachers, principals, secretaries, parents, and students from the requirements gathering stage. After online and in-person demonstrations of three finalist systems, the core team selected Synergy SIS for its flexibility, forward-thinking design, and wide-ranging functionality.

Synergy SIS balances ease of use with a degree of control that is unmatched in the marketplace. Synergy provides schools and districts with exceptional data access and reporting capabilities, powerful tools for streamlining and automating processes, extensive customization options, and best-in-class data security. The built-in TeacherVUE® Portal With Gradebook gives teachers a single place to access attendance and seating charts, a 360° profile of every student, and tools for analyzing student progress and standards proficiency. The ParentVUE® and StudentVUE® portals provide families with unprecedented access to grades, assignments, progress indicators, and teacher communication. Role-based mobile apps offer convenience for teachers, administrators, special education teams, counselors, health staff, parents, and students.

"We felt like we were picking the best of the best," said Phillip Howard, Executive Director of Technology at Lake Zurich. "It met 913 of our 915 functional requirements. That's pretty great. The mobile-first posture was really compelling. So was the ability to directly access the database. We liked that Synergy would allow us to customize every screen to our heart's content despite being a full-featured product off-the-shelf. The user interface was thoughtfully laid out and scored high for ease of use. Plus, it's a one-stop shop - we didn't have to buy a bunch of add-ons or systems that would need support from a third party."

As part of the seamless Synergy Education Platform ecosystem, Synergy SIS enables schools and districts to easily extend functionality to include online registration, MTSS, assessment, analytics, learning management, and special education management in a single platform.

"Lake Zurich CUSD's search for a new student information system was about more than just software," said Rob Wilson, President and Chief Innovation Officer at Edupoint. "It was about finding the right partnership to take the district into the future. At Edupoint we work hard to be that partner and were pleased that the evaluation team saw the evidence in our product. We look forward to supporting the district in achieving its goals and fulfilling its mission to 'empower every learner to achieve personal excellence.'"

Perkiomen Valley School District in PA Selects Synergy Education Platform

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. -- Perkiomen Valley School District (PVSD) has selected the industry-leading Synergy(R) Education Platform by Edupoint(R) Educational Systems for its K-12 student information management needs. The district's Synergy solution will include Synergy Student Information System, Synergy Online Registration, and Synergy Special Education. PVSD serves over 5,500 students in the Philadelphia region.

With Synergy Education Platform, PVSD will get a comprehensive student data management ecosystem in which the SIS and all core student data management solutions talk to each other by design, sharing data in real time from a single database for a seamless user experience.

District leaders at PVSD became interested in Synergy after attending a demo at a neighboring school district. The SIS selection committee then evaluated Synergy against several other student information systems, involving as many as 60 participants from every stakeholder group. The committee selected Synergy from four finalists after a round of full-day demos.

Key considerations in Perkiomen Valley's selection of Synergy included the platform's overall flexibility, the ease of transition for special education, the robust suite of role-based mobile apps, and the partner relationship the district would have with Edupoint.

"From a technical perspective, a smooth implementation is critical, and the references we spoke to put my mind at ease about working with Edupoint," said Karthik Ganesh, Chief Information Officer at Perkiomen Valley. "Our special education team is pleased because Edupoint will be doing the heavy lifting on moving our documents over. Synergy will also help us improve our scheduling efficiency to recoup a significant amount of time for our scheduling staff, and we'll have the ability to provide real-time information to families through the parent portal."

"Perkiomen Valley School District can be expected to see many improvements with their migration to Synergy," said Bob Weathers, Founder and CEO of Edupoint, "from extensive Google integration in the gradebook to greater overall efficiency and ease of use. We are pleased to have PVSD come on board and look forward to continuing to serve additional districts in Pennsylvania."

Edupoint Announces 4th Annual ‘Partner for Life’ Award Co-Recipients: Oregon’s High Desert Education Service District and Beaverton School District

MESA, Ariz. -- Edupoint® Educational Systems, creator of the industry-leading Synergy® Education Platform for K-12 student information and learning management, is pleased to announce that Rachel Wente-Chaney, Chief Information Officer for High Desert Education Service District (HDESD) in Redmond, Oregon, and Steven Langford, Chief Information Officer for Beaverton School District (BSD) in Beaverton, Oregon, have been selected as co-recipients of the company's 2019 Partner For Life Award.

Bob Weathers, Founder and CEO of Edupoint, presented the awards at the Opening Session of the company's 2019 Synergy CONNECT conference in Anaheim, California, earlier this month.

Edupoint's partnerships with HDESD and BSD were instrumental in bringing about the Oregon Student Information System (OSIS) committee's 2012 selection of Synergy as Oregon's statewide student information system, representing more than 400,000 students.

"Rachel Wente-Chaney and Steve Langford are two early adopters who embodied the spirit of partnership that Edupoint considers one of the cornerstones of our business," said Rob Wilson, President and Chief Innovation Office of Edupoint.

"They implemented Synergy at their districts before the statewide search effort and helped open many doors in the state adoption. The selection marked an important milestone for Edupoint, both in terms of our growth in the Pacific Northwest and as an affirmation of our maturity as a K-12 solutions provider and our potential growth nationwide. With this year's Partner for Life Award, we recognize Rachel and Steve for their ongoing commitment to Synergy and to the support of learning at their districts."

"Redmond School District was the first pilot district to work with us and with Edupoint to bring Synergy to Oregon," Wente-Chaney said. "My team has been supporting student information systems since 2009, and we provide everything from end user support - when a teacher needs to know how to take attendance or enter grades - all the way through patches, updates, and custom programming in Synergy. The OSIS team has also done great work with us over the years."

"We have some fantastic teams at Beaverton that support Synergy for our district of 41,000 students at 54 schools," Langford said. "Everything we do in IT is done together in teams, and that concept of collaboration and teamwork is something that we look for in our partners as well. We very much appreciate Edupoint's willingness to sit with us and explore new ways to give our students and staff time and information."

In recognition of Wente-Chaney and Langford's valued contributions, Edupoint has awarded $10,000 to each district to be granted as a student scholarship based on criteria of the district's choosing.

Bethel School District in Washington Selects Synergy Student Information System

SPANAWAY, Wash. -- Bethel School District (BSD) has selected the industry-leading Synergy(R) Student Information System (SIS) by Edupoint(R) Educational Systems for its K-12 student data management needs. The district's Synergy solution will include Synergy Online Registration and cloud hosting to serve over 19,000 K-12 students in the Seattle metropolitan area.

Decision-makers at Bethel began considering new data management options in response to an aging SIS and changes taking place with their existing support provider. After narrowing the field to Synergy SIS and one other product, the evaluation team spent six months learning about each product's capabilities, ensuring that every role and department in the district had an opportunity to provide feedback.

"We were on an explorer route, looking to discover what a new SIS could bring to our district and what it could support," said Michael Christianson, Chief Technology Officer at BSD. "We knew there were things we didn't even think about doing because we didn't know what to ask for. In the end we chose Synergy because we believed it would have the biggest impact on our staff in schools and on students. We especially liked the mature communication tools for involving parents and the mobile apps that enable principals, security, and other staff to manage anything they want to without having to be at a desk. We're an Apple district, so the fact that there are native iOS apps was a plus."

The evaluation team found Synergy to be teacher-focused without a lot of setup. Teachers have quick access to reports in the gradebook, and the flexibility in standards-based grading will allow different teachers to use different sets of standards. Secondary schools can stay with traditional grading now and move to standards-based grading later if needed.

"Bethel School District approached Edupoint with an open mind and allowed us to show them what student data management can be," said Bob Weathers, Founder and CEO at Edupoint. "We are thrilled to be partnering with Bethel in empowering their staff and helping their students achieve."

Edupoint Enters Florida with Clay County District Schools’ Selection of its Synergy Education Platform

GREEN COVE SPRINGS, Fla. -- Clay County District Schools has selected Edupoint(R) Educational Systems to implement its industry-leading Synergy Education Platform for K-12 student information and learning management. The district's cloud-hosted Synergy solution will include Synergy Student Information System, Synergy Learning Management System with RTI/MTSS and Assessment, Synergy Special Education, and Synergy Adult Ed/WDIS System. Clay County District Schools serves over 36,000 students across 52 schools in northeast Florida.

Synergy Education Platform will provide Clay County District Schools with a seamless ecosystem for streamlining student data management, giving the district a single database to hold all of its data points, cleaning the data, making reporting more efficient, and providing visibility in one location.

"Technology should result in an improvement of process, not overwhelm you," said Jeremy Bunkley, Director of Information Services for Clay County District Schools. "We were reaching a point of training saturation, but with Synergy, we are getting a single place to put everything. That will reduce the amount of professional development needed and really simplify the process for our teachers."

Synergy Education Platform will also make it easier for Clay County teachers to perform instructional tasks such as identifying student strengths and weaknesses, differentiating instruction, tracking student progress, ensuring that students receive needed intervention, and collaborating with other teachers.

"Clay is once again being proactive and moving toward a more teacher-friendly system," said Renna Lee Paiva, President of Clay County Education Association. "I am sure the teachers will be delighted with the potential of this new system."

"The system that we're replacing is a good SIS, but we knew we could do more," said Superintendent Addison Davis. "The Synergy mobile applications have a clean, crisp design and provide a level of accessibility and visibility for students that we believe will be a fantastic addition. When we took into account all of the various programs we're going to be turning off, we realized this wasn't just about a professional development and training pattern - this was about a fiscal savings for the district."

"Edupoint found a kinship with Clay County in what we were attempting to do, placing a high value on solutions that are not only teacher-centric, but are also focused on streamlining processes to make everyday tasks easier," said Rob Wilson, President and Chief Innovation Officer at Edupoint. "We are pleased to be partnering with Clay County in providing our next-generation data management solutions to their stakeholders, and we look forward to developing new relationships with districts throughout Florida."
