AUSTIN, Texas -- Pure Transplant Solutions, LLC (PTS), a collaboration driven biotechnology company focused on the development of human leukocyte antigen (HLA)-based diagnostics and therapeutics within the field of transplantation, is proud to announce that it has entered into a research collaboration with The University of Cambridge Abdominal Transplant Centre at Addenbrooke's Hospital, to develop new diagnostic strategies for DSA monitoring and characterization in transplantation.

The research is being led by Dr. Vasilis Kosmoliaptsis, Honorary Consultant Abdominal Transplant and HPB Surgeon, and Dr. Rico Buchli, Vice President Products and Services and Director of Research at PTS and its parent company, Pure Protein, LLC. The research project aims to investigate the relationship between alloantibody-HLA binding strength and the capacity of alloantibodies to mediate graft injury in solid organ transplantation, with the goal to develop and validate new HLA-antibody assays that will define the future thinking of antibody affinity in transplant rejection.

Dr. Kosmoliaptsis's group and collaborators have recently developed a novel immunoassay (microfluidic antibody affinity profiling) that enables quantification of antibody affinity and concentration directly in patient sera thus allowing clinical translation of this research for patient benefit. If successful, such data will potentially facilitate a new diagnostic tool to quantify alloantibody-mediated immunological risk that may enable improved access to transplantation, reduce the risk of humoral rejection, and improve transplant outcomes.

"Antibody affinity matters, and we believe that this work has the potential to transform clinical practice in transplantation," Dr. Kosmoliaptsis stated. "The provision of purified and naturally folded HLA reagents by PTS for use in our kinetics experiments provides an exciting opportunity to increase our understanding of the pathogenic potential of HLA-specific antibodies in the context of transplantation and to improve long-term transplant outcomes."

We foresee that this new insight into HLA antibody kinetics will provide new strategies and diagnostics that could help improve individual patient care and ultimately increase the lifespan of transplants," said Dr. Buchli.

Pure Transplant Solutions Announces Collaboration with King’s College London to Support NHS Funded GAMECHANgER-1 Clinical Trial for HLA Sensitized Patients with End Stage Renal Disease

AUSTIN, Texas -- Pure Transplant Solutions, LLC (PTS), a collaboration driven biotechnology company focused on the development of human leukocyte antigen (HLA)-based diagnostics and therapeutics within the field of transplantation, is proud to announce that it has entered into a collaboration agreement with King's College London, a leading university providing world-class teaching and cutting-edge research, to support the Phase IIa GAMECHANgER-1 clinical trial.

The trial aims to determine whether adoptive transfer of regulatory T cells (Tregs) into HLA sensitised patients can suppress memory T and B cell responses against specific HLA antigens in order to extend the longevity of donor organs.

The collaborative research is being led by Dr. Anthony Dorling, Professor of Transplant Inflammation and Repair, and Honorary Consultant Nephrologist at the Centre for Nephrology, Urology, and Transplantation, and Dr. Rico Buchli, VP of Products and Services at PTS. The collaboration intends to investigate whether in vitro anti-HLA T & B cell responses in sensitized patients can be inhibited by an adoptive transfer of T regulatory cells. Under the Agreement, PTS will provide its proprietary soluble HLA (sHLA) molecules which will be used to trigger functional responses of patient cells in Fluorospot assays.

Furthermore, PTS will provide biotinylated sHLA for memory b-cell detection and characterization. Researchers hope that the results of the study will lead to a better understanding of immune tolerance, extend the duration of suppression of HLA-specific responses by Tregs and ultimately produce state-of-the-art immune therapeutics to control rejection.

"We feel that PTS has the fundamental ingredients needed to provide new sets of tools to those who care for transplant patients," Dr. Buchli stated. "Our proteins can solve a number of important challenges in DSA and B cell monitoring. With this collaboration, we are able to go beyond monitoring and help pave the way in generating immune therapeutics of the future."

"The group of highly sensitized dialysis patients that we'll be recruiting to GAMECHANgER-1 have difficulties getting a suitable kidney transplant and once transplanted suffer higher rates of rejection and complications associated with our current treatments for rejection," said Dr. Dorling. "This trial will determine whether patients' own regulatory T cells can be used to suppress immune memory responses against specific human leukocyte antigens (HLA), and if successful will pave the way for larger scale trials to determine if these regulatory cells can be used as therapy to prevent or minimise these problems in future. The HLA proteins provided by Pure Transplant Solutions are an essential tool used to tailor our immunemonitoring for individual patients, so I'm delighted to be partnering with the company to ensure a stable, long-term supply of these reagents. This trial offers a glimpse of how personalised medicine might help transform outcomes for this disadvantaged group of patients."

Music for Choir and Orchestra Becomes Mystical Reflection of Life and Memory in Brian Field’s New Album

LONDON, UK -- RMN Classical is excited to announce that "CHORAL & ORCHESTRAL WORKS" by Brian Field, produced by Rick Romano and distributed by RMN Music, will be released worldwide on Apple Music, Spotify, Amazon Music, Google Music and all digital platforms on October 15, 2020. The album, a collection of 12 works written by the composer in recent years, explores mysticism and includes instrumental works for ensemble, large orchestra and choral works. His works are performed throughout the U.S. and internationally.

The jazz-flavored instrumental track, "Nine, Four by Four," opens the album followed by a section of choral works with English lyrics. The orchestral "Shiva Tandava" completes the first half of the album and unlocks an exotic mysticism. Mirroring the opening, it's followed by the second section of choral works - this time based on Latin text.

"Beatitudines," a far-reaching work, sees the choir and a large orchestra conjunct. Two tracks for choir and organ close the Latin section leading the listener to the final track. A little gem, gospel-like song, "Sweet Forgiveness," brings the album to completion in a coda-like style.

"This compilation of 12 works showcases some of my more recent choral and large-scale instrumental/orchestral works," Fields, an internationally-acclaimed and renowned composer, says.

The music is an eclectic fusion of lyricism and driving rhythm that brings together elements of post-romanticism, minimalism and jazz.

"Apart from the jazz-influenced, 'Nine, Four by Four,' the works in this compilation embrace and celebrate the mystical. In many cases, these are mystical elements of faith and in others the secular, though equally mystical reflections of life and memory," Fields says.

The album features performances by esteemed musicians, ensembles and orchestras including the Budapest Symphonic Orchestra and Choir conducted by Peter Illénay; the Composes' Choir conducted by Daniel Shaw; the Lviv Philharmonic Society & Chorus conducted by Ferdinando Nazzaro; and Heelan Chorale conducted by John Flannery.

The development of Vero 2.0 was kickstarted by a partnership with Gavi, The Vaccine Alliance, and NEC to boost immunization coverage worldwide. Leveraging technology from Arm and SecuGen, Vero 2.0 has the following features: Near-Field Communications (NFC) to facilitate a seamless, wireless Bluetooth pairing with a mobile device; a redesigned printed circuit board (PCB) powered by the ARM Cortex-M0 32-bit MCU that enables streamlined manufacture; configurable LED colors for increased cultural acceptability and accessibility for the color-blind; fast image-transfer from scanner to mobile and backend storage for robust matching capabilities: and SecuGen's high-resolution fingerprint sensor module capable of achieving up to 1,700 DPI for detailed image capture. Simprints is working with local manufacturer, Prima Electronic Services, to build 1,400 units for immediate use in healthcare projects across sub-Saharan Africa.

An improvement on its predecessor, Vero 2.0 is highly accurate, durable, wireless, water- and dust-proof, and ergonomic for health workers in low-resource areas. This development will bring Simprints and its partners one step closer to accurately verifying the identities of patients from 1 year old and above, in order to ensure that every single person is reached with life-saving medical care.

"Simprints helps us save time and labor. We like working with the scanner because it's easier to identify patients," says a community research assistant in Malawi.

"Simprints makes our workflow flawless. We had challenges before, like supply bottlenecks. We'd end up giving too many shoes, only to realize not too many of these children actually exist. So, we tied our distribution to a fingerprint," says the leader of a local health organization in Kenya.
