SOUTHBOROUGH, MA /Send2Press Newswire/ — The New England Center For Children (NECC) of Southborough, MA has been chosen to receive the 2005 SABA Award for Enduring Programmatic Contributions in Behavior Analysis. NECC (www.necc.org) will accept the prestigious award at the opening event of the 31st Annual Association for Behavior Analysis (ABA) Convention, Saturday, May 28, 2005 in Chicago.

ABA, an international organization with 4,000 members from more than 30 countries, is the academic and scientific association of experimental and behavioral psychology. Previous winners of this award include the Departments of Psychology at the Universities of Florida and West Virginia.

In selecting NECC, the Society for the Advancement of Behavior Analysis (SABA) commented on the schools importance as a resource for children with Autism, utilizing scientifically and behaviorally based practices in a “most exemplary fashion.” NECC’s national reputation and its excellence in research and teaching were also noted. In reference to the announcement, NECC’s Founder and Executive Director L. Vincent Strully, Jr. said, “We are thrilled and honored to receive this award. This is the academy award of peer recognition and it validates the exceptional efforts of our researchers, clinicians and teachers.”

In 2000, NECC became the only private special education school ever to receive the United States Department of Education’s National Award for Model Professional Development.

Founded in 1975, NECC provides a comprehensive continuum of clinical and educational services to children with Autism and related disabilities. Today, more than 225 students are enrolled in one of the school’s programs that include home-based, residential and in-school services. For more information on NECC, please visit www.necc.org.
