The Awards of Distinction are given each year to recognize the best modular building projects in the world. The projects are rated in four areas: architectural excellence, technical innovation, cost effectiveness/energy efficiency and calendar days to complete.

Innovative Modular Solutions captured a First Place Award in the category, “Temporary Education Buildings over 10,000 square feet” for the Southfield Public School Project in Southfield, Michigan. The project team included IMS, Whitley Manufacturing, Modular Builders and Miller Building Systems.

The Southfield Project encompassed 6 school sites and more than 100,000 square feet of classroom space. The modular building complexes house students without disruption to the educational process while renovations and additions continue in the permanent facilities. Cost savings are realized as construction will be completed in two years, instead of eight summers. Southfield Schools have leased the buildings from IMS.
