The concerts, at 4 pm on Saturday and Sunday, May 28 and 29, 2005, are free after paid admission to the Museum. The California Palace of the Legion of Honor is located at 34th and Clement, Lincoln Park San Francisco, CA 94121. http://www.thinker.org/legion. Maintenance of the organ and the recital series are supported by the Bradley Trust.

The program opens with Eric Coates’ “THE DAM BUSTERS” march from the film of the same name which dramatized a British raid on several strategic dams in WW II; the “INTERMEZZO” from Pietro Mascagni’s opera, Cavalleria Rusticana transcribed by Keith Thompson; and the Ragtime/Jazz era piece, “KITTEN ON THE KEYS,” by Zez Confrey.

To remember the valor of Americans on Memorial Day, Keith has chosen from “George M!” music by the celebrated George M. Cohan, “I’M A YANKEE DOODLE DANDY,” “HARRIGAN,” “GIVE MY REGARDS TO BROADWAY,” “MARY’S A GRAND OLD NAME,” “FORTY-FIVE MINUTES FROM BROADWAY” and “YOU’RE A GRAND OLD FLAG.”

Keith concludes with two stirring and ever popular marches by the March King, John Philip Sousa, “THE WASHINGTON POST” march and “THE STARS AND STRIPES FOREVER” march.

Keith Thompson’s recordings of the two Sousa marches are available on Apple iTunes(TM) stores in the USA, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Germany, Finland, Portugal, France, Greece, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Spain and the United Kingdom.

They are also available on his “ORGAN FIREWORKS” CD with other American pipe organ music through www.echoesofheaven.com. The website has extensive program notes for the CD.
