BOSTON, MA (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- CGI-AMS is pleased to announce a speaking engagement by renowned Java Struts framework authority Ted Husted at the January meeting of the New England Java Users' Group (NEJUG) on Thursday January 12th at 6:00 P.M. at the Sun Microsystems campus at One Network Drive in Burlington, MA.

NEJUG members and non-NEJUG members can attend at no cost, however registration is requested by Sun Microsystems (web registration information appears below).

Here is an overview of Ted's presentation: "Struts 2006: An embarrassment of riches" with Ted Husted.

Overview:

Apache Struts is a hotbed of activity. Struts Classic 1.3, Struts Shale, Struts Ti, Struts OverDrive. Why so many frameworks? How are they different? Why are they all called Struts? Which is the best choice for my next project? In this session, we step back and look at Struts through a wide-angle lens.

Ted presented "Struts: Past, Present, and Future, and Impact of JSF" to the NEJUG in October 2004, and it resulted in the largest audience (240) we've had in the past 3 years. Now Ted gets us up to speed on what has happened with Struts since then. Note this will be an updated version of the presentation Ted will be giving in December 2005 at ApacheCon in San Diego.

About the speaker:

Ted Husted is a developer, author, and mentor. He is an Apache Software Foundation Member and a charter member of the Struts Project Management Committee. Ted is also the ASF "shepherd" for MyFaces and iBATIS, two of the latest additions to the Foundation. Ted's books include JUnit in Action, Struts in Action, and Professional JSP Site Design. He has consulted with teams throughout the United States, including CitiGroup, Nationwide Insurance, and PepsiCo. Ted is currently working with the Oklahoma State Department of Environmental Services to improve their permitting system.

Pizza and refreshments will be provided.
