NEW YORK, NY (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- Boston based recording artist Heather Schmid just returned from performing her pop/rock music for 10 days in Pakistan for audiences up to 20,000 including a special performance for the Prime Minister at the governors' mansion. Heather was interviewed by every major television station and most newspapers covered her arrival. Heather was hailed by Ptv, the nation's largest television station, as an ambassador of peace and the hit of the world music festival in which she participated.

"Pakistan was there for our country during the most difficult time of our recent history," said Schmid. "I wanted to be there for them during what is now being called the largest natural disaster recorded. I wanted to do what I could. Since I'm not a doctor and can't help out in that way, I did what I do best - perform."

Heather received no compensation for her performances, and donated the money that she earned for photo shoots with major designers in Pakistan to charity. Heather performed the national song "Jewey Jewey Pakistan" on stage as a dedication to all Pakistanis.

Heather is now recording her new album titled "the goddess within" with Rich Balmer, a 5 time Grammy nominated producer in Los Angeles. Her executive producer is Ed Bennett, the founder of VH1.

A graduate of Boston University's classical music program, Heather possesses a mind-blowing 3 1/2 octave range. She learned piano and performed throughout New England as a lyric soprano soloist. Her potential in the classical field was evident - she won competitions and traveled in Europe as a soloist; however, Heather wanted to find a bigger audience. The very same weekend she graduated as a promising opera singer, she impetuously set out for Las Vegas, the host city of the Miss Millennium pageant. Expecting a fun weekend, perhaps an interesting learning experience, she walked out with a title, besting 199 talented peers. Becoming Miss Millennium 2002 was a turning point in Heather's life. This event ended up being the catalyst that incited her current career path.
