AUSTIN, Tex. – Sept. 28 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — deverus’ Todd Salmi is scheduled to speak at the 2006 Annual Pre-Employment Screeners Conference. At the 2006 Annual Pre-Employment Screeners Conference being held in Clearwater Florida on November 12 through the 15, Todd Salmi will be speaking about Electronic Signatures and their use in the employment screening process.

The E-Sign Act of 2000 passed into law the usage of electronic signatures in commercial transactions. Since that time, the Federal Trade Commission (which has the federal regulatory authority over screening companies) has weighed in with how electronic signatures can be implemented. Todd will talk about the standards that law and letter sets up, some “best practices” around the e-signing process, as well as specific areas in the screening processes that are affected by electronic signatures (education verifications, past employment verification, drug screens, etc)

Todd joined deverus in 1999 and is currently the Director of Client Growth. Todd is a key player in background check industry associations. He plays a major role in the NAPBS Government Affairs Committee, including authoring of association standards and position papers, as well as actively lobbying for the association in Washington DC. On the NAPBS Provider Committee, Todd serves as co-chair of a sub-committee on provider accreditation and was a key author in the NAPBS Data Privacy and Security Provider Guidelines.

Todd also serves on the University of Texas at Austin McComb’s Business School Management Information Systems steering committee. In addition to helping set the direction and curriculum for the undergraduate degree program, Todd also serves as a guest lecturer, a project sponsor for the senior systems class and a resource for various articles and publications of the UT MIS Business program.

Before joining deverus, Todd worked for Arthur Andersen business consulting group in a leadership role with clients such as Motorola, Capstar Communications (acquired by Clear Channel), Verizon, SBC, and Cadbury Schweppes. In addition to his experience with Fortune 500 companies, Todd has also worked as a consultant with several start-up companies in business plan creation, market analysis and strategy, technology planning, and investor presentations.
