MONROVIA, Calif. – Oct. 11 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — The California State Department of Education recently approved The Learning Adventure to provide Supplemental Education Services to students who fall under the protection of the recent Title I and No Child Left Behind legislation. This means that students struggling in California schools are able to access the quality literacy program offered by The Learning Adventure at no cost to parents.

The Learning AdventureThe Learning Adventure program is a comprehensive, breakthrough approach to literacy (reading, writing, speaking, critical/creative thinking). Founded by retired CSULA Professor John Morrison in 1998, The Learning Adventure has an excellent track record of successfully moving students to the “next level” of literacy fluency.

According to Director of Education, Kincaid Smith, “On average, students who attend our program read faster, understand more of what they read by a factor of 50%, and are able to introduce expression and creativity into their reading. The average increase in writing fluency (speed and accuracy) is 35%.” Mr. Smith explained that The Learning Adventure programs may reach children better than typical classroom lessons because “they teach children in a way that is aligned with how they learn.” The program employs dynamic teachers who engage the classroom with theater, kinesthetics, games and encouragement of self-expression.

Vincent, a Level 5 student, had this to say about the program, “At first I didn’t know how to write an essay but now I think I am the best writer in the world. I didn’t like reading, but now I read 20-60 pages in a day! It was great. I always looked forward to this class. I hope my parents will let me join this class again. My teacher makes work into games and boring into fun. It’s like magic!”

The Learning Adventure has been providing classes, study groups and private tutoring (Kindergarten through High School) throughout Los Angeles and Orange County since 1999. “In addition to our scholarship program,” stressed Mr. Smith, “…our new status as a Supplemental Education Service provider allows us to reach a greater number of the kids who need us. This is very good news since studies show that any student who receives some sort of supplemental education will be more competitive academically, and that translates to being more competitive in the workforce.”

Parents can contact their school to determine if their student qualifies for Supplemental Education Services. Parents interested in The Learning Adventure’s scholarship programs or information on upcoming classes, study groups and tutoring may contact The Learning Adventure directly at 626-359-1781. The Fall Term begins the weekend of October 15th or October 21st depending on location. For more information, parents and students may also visit www.thelearningadventure.com.

Cynthia, a parent from Orange County, placed her eight-year-old son in The Learning Adventure Level Four program over the summer and had this to say: “My son enjoyed the classes greatly. His ability to read increased immensely and his writing ability really improved. I feel that this program did more over one short term for his literacy fluency than the entire school year. Parents need to do whatever they can to get their students into this program, because it works.”
