Colette Marchesini Pollock Joins as D.C. Executive Director; Alexis Strothman as Consultant in Pittsburgh Office

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Jan. 25 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — GSP Consulting, a fast-growing government affairs and economic architecture consulting firm today announced the expansion of their Federal Government Affairs practice in Washington D.C. and Pittsburgh.

With an aggressive growth plan in mind for 2007 that includes expanding practice areas and opening new offices, GSP took the first step by bringing on experienced congressional staffer and lobbyist, Colette Marchesini Pollock as its Washington D.C. executive director.

Pollock assumed the role January 15 and leads operations in the capitol. As part of the Federal Government Affairs practice, Pollock and her team in D.C. will support federal initiatives for GSP clients in more than a dozen major cities across the country.

“We set out in 2007 with the aspiration of taking this firm to a new level, and the addition of Colette is a big step in making that happen,” company founder Joe Kuklis said. “Colette’s experience within the United States Congress, and as a government affairs professional, will give our clients a real advantage in D.C.”

Prior to GSP, Pollock was with Van Scoyoc Associates, Inc. where she held the position of associate vice president. However, the majority of her experience comes from more than 13 years working with Congressman John Murtha (PA) as a legislative assistant. As part of Murtha’s staff Pollock was very involved in education issues related to the Congressman’s constituency.

Another addition to the National Federal Practice is former Senator Santorum staffer Alexis Strothman. She joins the team as a government affairs consultant in the Pittsburgh office where she will work closely with GSP Principal Aaron Grau to support the practice and clients across GSP’s network of state offices. Strothman, who has a strong legal background, comes to GSP with experience in issues related to veteran’s affairs, housing and other social policies.

“With Colette on board and directing our efforts in D.C. GSP has an even stronger presence in the Capitol, allowing us to broaden our service offerings and bring even greater value and results to our clients,” GSP Chairman Pat Stewart commented. “With the addition of Alexis here in Pittsburgh, the GSP team will be poised to provide clients with the best government affairs minds in the business.”

GSP’s Federal Government Affairs practice supports the growing number of GSP State Practice areas that today includes Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. The Federal Government Affairs practice specializes in identifying and securing government funding, marketing and selling to government customers, affecting regulatory or legislative policy, administering and managing public grants and programs, creating and managing a Political Action Committee, and building a deep and broad government network. Their clients include bioscience and technology companies, non-profits, and manufacturers, among others.

This expansion follows a series of strategic executive hirings in 2006, including Carnegie Mellon University’s Jerry Paytas, and Stewart, who joined from Idea Foundry. 2006 was also a year of industry recognition for GSP as the firm was recognized as the Pittsburgh Technology Council’s Tech 50 winner in the Service Provider category, and as a Best Places to Work finalist.
