BOONTON, N.J., Jan. 22 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — Providers of transactional services to the telecommunications industry will see increasingly strong demand for products that support international global roaming, according to a new market research study from The Insight Research Corporation. Transactional services, which include signaling transaction services; call processing services such as 800, calling card, and directory assistance; as well as support for financial settlements, underpin all telecommunication services.

Insight’s market analysis study “Transaction Service Processing and Telecommunications, 2009-2014,” describes the technology and market forces driving the growth of transaction services in both wireline and wireless networks. According to the study, continued strong demand worldwide for wireless services as well as the increasing minutes of use generated by the subscriber while roaming will play a significant role in driving transaction services.

The study predicts that worldwide roaming retail revenues for transactional services including SMS, MMS and application-to-person will hit $968 million in 2009, and will continue growing at double-digit rates over the next five years.

“The outlook for transaction based services has never been brighter. SMS and MMS, which are predicated upon transactional information, are already well established and we are forecasting that demand will only increase,” says Robert Rosenberg, Insight Research president.

“Furthermore, as a greater proportion of subscribers adopt 3G and 4G mobile technology, higher bandwidth applications such as video-on-demand, visual social networking, and Web 2.0 services are likely to demand ever greater support from the transaction service providers, propelling this industry into explosive growth,” Rosenberg concluded.
