Many companies are required to comply with the New York Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) regulations regarding the generation and handling of hazardous waste. Typical waste subject to regulation includes spent solvents and used rags, expired chemicals, electronic equipment, batteries, fluorescent and HID lamps, computer monitors, and other waste derived from manufacturing processes. Employees must know how to properly identify waste, handle and store waste, manifest and package waste for shipment, and assure proper waste treatment and disposal.
