A R T I C L E:

Bookbinder Specialties, a PA Preferred Company, will introduce two new all natural and gluten-free clam chowders at the 5th Annual PA Preferred Giant Buyer/Vendor Show at the Harrisburg Farm Show Complex & Exposition Center on June 10, 2010.

The two soups, a New England Clam Chowder and a Southwestern Clam and Corn Chowder, will be available in a 10.5 oz, semi-condensed can. A 51 oz package for foodservice applications will also be offered.

“We are extremely excited about these two new soups,” explained Sean O’Neil, Bookbinder Specialties’ Chief Soup Officer. “There is a strong demand for great tasting, healthy, restaurant-quality food that can be easily prepared, and a growing need for individuals with gluten sensitivity or Celiac disease. We adapted the recipe of two favorites to be gluten-free, with lower sodium, and no artificial additives, flavors or colorants. We believe these two regional chowders are an excellent step forward and expect to showcase additional new products at the upcoming Fancy Food Show in New York in late June.”

The Media, Pennsylvania-based Bookbinder Specialties Company, sells soups and seasonings based on favorite recipes from the Old Original Bookbinder’s restaurant, established in 1865 in Philadelphia’s historic Old City. Bookbinder’s product line features fresh seafood from the eastern U.S., and includes bisques (lobster, crab, shrimp, and seafood), snapper soup, clam chowders, oyster stew, clam sauces, clam juice, breadcrumbs, and seasonings. Distribution is throughout the U.S., with concentration in the Northeast.

The PA Preferred® Program helps increase awareness, accessibility and consumption of products grown and processed (if applicable) in Pennsylvania. The logo has become recognized not only by consumers but also by retailers, wholesalers, chefs and restaurateurs as a symbol of superior taste, quality and freshness.

The 5th Annual PA Preferred Giant Buyer/Vendor Show at the PA Farm Show Complex & Expo Center is sponsored in partnership with the PA Preferred® Program and Giant Food Stores, LLC. The show is scheduled for June 10, 2010 in the Exposition Hall from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The show is not open to the public.
