A R T I C L E:

Edupoint(TM) Educational Systems, a leading student information system (SIS) solutions provider to the national K-12 market and based in Irvine, California, has been selected to implement its GENESIS(TM) SIS solution suite for the San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD). The system will replace outdated software solutions previously developed by the district’s IT staff with current, web-based technology and will automate processes that are now executed manually.

San Francisco USD comprises 140 campuses that serve more than 55,000 students in grades pre-K through 12. It is the top-performing urban school district in California and one of the most highly rated urban districts in the country.

“Districts understand the mission-critical nature of student information systems. SFUSD recognized that their aging SIS was no longer meeting their constituents’ needs and they conducted a comprehensive procurement process to select a replacement system. We are thrilled to have been chosen and excited to begin working with them on the project,” said Rob Wilson, Edupoint’s President. “GENESIS is the fastest growing SIS in California and SFUSD’s selection of Edupoint confirms our value-proposition as a robust solution for large districts in our home state.”

Matthew Kinzie, SFUSD Chief Technology Officer, summarized the district’s decision: “A number of great systems were evaluated by a large, cross-functional selection committee of district and school representatives. Obviously, in this economic environment, we made a careful decision and one that we believe presents the best long term solution for the district. It came down to the features and functionality GENESIS delivers, its ability to meet our state reporting requirements, and Edupoint’s experience in implementing in large school districts like SFUSD. We look forward to working with the Edupoint technical and training specialists to launch the new solution.”

GENESIS is a tightly integrated, true web suite of modules sharing a common database, which means that data entered once can be shared by all modules.

Edupoint will be working closely with SFUSD’s Project team on the GENESIS implementation, user training, and district-wide roll-out over the course of the project.
