The San Bernardino County Workforce Investment Board Youth Council has designed a new website specifically for San Bernardino County youth, ages 14 through 21 at http://www.SBCountyJobOps.com. The site features videos that profile careers in the County’s top demand industries and the short-term vocational training programs that provided young people with the skills to enter these careers.

The site also provides numerous testimonials from youth who have successfully completed Workforce Investment Act Youth Programs and links to these services.

“The San Bernardino County Workforce Investment Board and its youth service providers are offering young people throughout our County many opportunities to become the next generation of health professionals, business owners, machinists and technicians,” said Chair Josie Gonzales, County of San Bernardino Fifth District Supervisor. “With the education, training and mentoring offered through our training programs, young people are building careers, achieving self sufficiency and gaining self esteem and community pride.”

The San Bernardino County Workforce Investment Act Youth Program gives eligible youth access to services designed to increase educational opportunities, develop job skills, explore career options, develop leadership qualities, participate in adult and peer mentoring and counseling and obtain work experience.

“We invest in our youth so that they receive the support, training and education necessary to overcome the obstacles in their paths,” said Sandy Harmsen, Executive Director of the San Bernardino County Workforce Investment Board. “Everyone on our board’s youth council is proud to serve our County’s youth. We all want to see them succeed. Our County’s future depends on them.”
