A R T I C L E:

The Los Angeles chapter of the American Parkinson's Disease Association (apdala.org), along with James Gray Gallery, present "Living Artistically with Parkinson's Disease," a unique exhibition featuring works of art created by celebrated artists living with PD. To celebrate the exhibition, which runs from February 8-13, 2012, the APDA L.A. is hosting a champagne brunch with a silent auction this Sunday, February 12.

For over ten years APDA L.A. has been supporting patients with Parkinson's Disease and raising public awareness about Parkinson's through events such as wellness workshops, an annual walk-a-thon, and now the "Living Artistically with Parkinson's Disease" art exhibition. The goal of the show is to not only raise funds, but also to express to the community what people living with PD can do. Mark Siegel, President of APDA Los Angeles says, "This is a wonderful opportunity for people with Parkinson's to show the world their creativity and skills. APDA is proud to sponsor this ground breaking exhibition."

Unlike other art exhibits, "Living Artistically with Parkinson's Disease" is distinctive in that every contributing artist is doing just that - living artistically with Parkinson's Disease. "'Living Artistically with Parkinson's Disease' shows me what can be accomplished with determination," participating artist and PD patient Sandy Yaras says. "I am honored to be included with this remarkable group of people." The exhibition will showcase paintings, drawings, photography, sculptures, and music from artists including Jorge Lacost, James Tim Walker, and Herb Rosenkrantz.
