Since the foundation of the Arizona Wine Industry, the Harvesting of the Vine Fine Wine Festival has awarded scholarships and helped to fund local law enforcement programs such as DARE. According to The Village of Elgin, it has also allowed wineries to showcase the fruits of the Arizona vine and provided festival goers with arts, crafts, foods and music. The festival annually crowns the Arizona Grape Stomping Royalty.

The Harvesting of the Vine Fine Wine Festival will take place on September 29 and 30, 2012 from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m., at a cost of $18 per person over 21, including lunch. Anyone under 21 enters for free, but must purchase food and non-alcoholic beverages at additional cost. Buzz and the Soul Senders will provide the musical accompaniment to the festivities. The crowning of the King and Queen of Arizona Grape Stomping will take place daily around 1:30 and is a highlight of the festival.

Priests will bless the new wines. Santa Cruz County Sheriff Estrada will be on hand to receive the DARE donation. Over 30 wines will be available to sample and your choice of either Bar-B-Que Chicken and Beef, accompanied by coleslaw and cornbread to eat. Hot dogs, chips, soda, water, breads and desserts will be available for purchase throughout the day.

The Village of Elgin is located 55 miles southeast from Tucson heading east on I-10 take exit 281 off Arizona Highway 83 and head south for 24 miles until you come to Sonoita. Continue on Highway 83 for another 4.5 miles and make a left. The winery will be 4 miles on your right hand side.
