VITEC Deploys iTrinegy’s NE-ONE to Optimize IP Encoder-Decoder Performance Over Networks for a Better Viewer Experience

LONDON, U.K. — IBC Amsterdam — iTrinegy, leading providers of Software Defined Virtual Test Networks, are pleased to announce that VITEC, a prominent worldwide end-to-end video streaming solutions provider for broadcast, military and government, enterprise, sports and entertainment venues, has selected iTrinegy’s NE-ONE Network Emulator to enhance their IP Encoder/Decoder testing capability.

Combining broadcasting with live streaming capabilities, VITEC’s H.265 (HEVC) and H.264 offering is the most extensive in the market with encoding and decoding appliances, IPTV solutions for desktops and mobile devices, and PCI cards with SDK for integration projects.

Wishing to ensure their solutions continued to meet and ideally exceed customers’ expectations, VITEC looked to deploy network emulation technology to enhance their QA and testing procedures by enabling them to create a virtual test network in which to verify the resilience of its products to lossy IP transmission links such as The Internet or Satellite.

iTrinegy’s NE-ONE Network Emulator helps VITEC achieve this objective by reproducing, within the lab, a comprehensive range of network types and manipulating characteristics such as Packet Loss, Network Jitter (Packet Delay Variation), Packet Corruption, Packet Duplication and Packet Reordering in order to stress test media content transmissions.

Using the NE-ONE VITEC are able to:
* Test transport protection technology and error correction algorithms for video, audio and metadata transmission
* Test and validate VITEC products that integrate these transport protocols and algorithms
* Reproduce their clients’ use cases: simulating their own network conditions (The Internet, Satellite, RF,…) in order to enhance incident management and accelerate resolution times.

Included in VITEC’s selection criteria when choosing an appropriate network emulator was ease-of-use and test automation and the NE-ONE Model 20, offering both the ability to quickly select pre-defined network environments and the capability to perform automatic regression testing by utilizing the built-in scripting / command line functionality, have helped VITEC achieve significant time saving during their testing procedures.

However, when asked what the major benefit of using the NE-ONE is, Richard Bernard, Senior Product Manager, VITEC commented that, “The iTrinegy solution helps us deliver optimized IP encoding and decoding solutions to the market. Ultimately, it assures our customers that VITEC products are very effective in lossy IP networks, giving them the confidence to deploy VITEC technology into their streaming environments.”

iTrinegy Director, Graham Wood responded, “We are delighted to have VITEC as a new customer using our NE-ONE product. They join a significant number of broadcast and media sector organizations that recognize the value of being able to easily configure and deploy a wide range of networks and network conditions, within their test labs.”

Wood adds, “The success of any broadcast or streaming service is ultimately defined by the perceived user experience. So having the ability to quickly identify and mitigate network-related issues both during development and test, ensures broadcast and streaming media providers enhance their ability to deliver the best viewer experience possible.”
