Asheville fine artist Cindy Walton has been selected as one of 20 North Carolina abstractionists to present her work, technique, and inspiration in the innovative Pecha Kucha style on April 23, 2013, as part of the Green Hill Center for North Carolina Art spring focus on abstract art.

Presentations are free and open to the public from 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. A lunch reception with attendance by reservation only follows in the Gallery.

As a selected artist, Walton will show 20 images for 20 seconds each, in a dynamic 6 minute self-directed program for the forum to exchange ideas and information in pursuit of artistic excellence and professional growth. The project is part of the center’s Art Outreach Project designed create a forum to focus attention on abstraction and create connections between North Carolina artists and significant art professionals, critics, and gallery owners.

About the Artist

Walton creates riveting, emotional abstractions on canvas in the cold wax medium – consisting of a beeswax paste mixed with oil paints for a matte, layered texture. Her inspired use of color has been previously compared favorably with that of renowned colorist Hans Hoffman in a 2011 Asheville Museum of Art exhibit.

* Among artists, Walton is known for her mastery of technique and style, and her workshops for professional artists include residencies with the prestigious Ghost Ranch in New Mexico.

* Walton enjoys a growing reputation as a significant artist to watch, with demand for her work increasing among discerning collectors regionally, nationally and abroad.

* Accepted to the juried National Association of Women Artists in 2011, Walton enjoys emerging prestige as an artist with increasing significance in the national arena.

* Since 2006, Walton remains a fellow in the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, with support from the Karen Shea Silverman Foundation Endowment, at the Creative Retreat, Mount San Angelo, Amherst, Va.
