LOS ANGELES, Calif. /Send2Press Newswire/ -- "Skeletons in the Closet" is the Los Angeles County Coroner's gift shop, now online at www.LACORONER.com. Located in the administration building of the Department of Coroner, the gift shop helps fund the department's special programs and public relations efforts. Some of these programs include the "Youthful Drunk Driving Visitation Program" (YDDVP). A court ordered alternative sentencing program for youthful offenders, this program takes participants through the Coroner facilities and exposes them to the realistic and traumatic consequences associated with their offense.

The Department also participates in "Every 15 minutes," this powerful program challenges students to think about drinking, personal safety, and the responsibility of making mature decisions when lives are involved.

Started as a T-shirt sale for employees in 1993, popularity of the shirts grew rapidly. Soon people outside the department were clamoring for shirts with the "Body Outline" and more. Today, "Skeletons in the Closet" carries over 50 items, has a web-site for E-commerce and does over a quarter million in sales each year.

Until recently, the Store's sales consisted of orders processed by mail and walk-in clientele who could only pay by cash or check. Recently, the Department finalized the system for online marketing and E-commerce. This was the first Los Angeles County departmental attempt at an E-Commerce application.

As a model for government agencies to generate revenue, this innovative program has led the way for civic self-reliance. As County budgets get tight and tax revenue shrinks, it is important to look for new ways of generating revenue. The success of this entrepreneurial venture stems from years of perseverance by staff and tremendous support from their customers.

Professional eBay Sellers Document Concern for Marketplace

Author: The Professional eBay Sellers Alliance

freeNewsArticles Story Summary: “NEW YORK, NY /Send2Press Newswire/ -- The Professional eBay Sellers Alliance (PESA) has released its study of eBay's new dispute reporting process. eBay recently renamed its fraud reporting system to the Item Not Received/Significantly Not As Described Dispute Process (INR/SNAD). eBay will be promoting the new reporting system to all buyers in an effort to provide easier recourse for shoppers when a transaction goes wrong.”

NEW YORK, NY /Send2Press Newswire/ -- The Professional eBay Sellers Alliance (PESA) has released its study of eBay's new dispute reporting process. eBay recently renamed its fraud reporting system to the Item Not Received/Significantly Not As Described Dispute Process (INR/SNAD).

eBay will be promoting the new reporting system to all buyers in an effort to provide easier recourse for shoppers when a transaction goes wrong.

The INR/SNAD process that is scheduled to go live in January is simply a reporting mechanism with no protective value to the consumer. It does nothing to curtail improper practices from occurring; only reporting after the fact. PESA believes that eBay needs to implement policies that will prevent people with negative intentions from doing excessive damage to innocent shoppers.

A couple of recommendations from PESA are that eBay should verify the address and identity of sellers as well as place restrictions on selling activity until certain criteria are met. A new seller should not have an issue providing a verifiable name and address before listing 50 plasma televisions or laptop computers.

"The integrity of the eBay marketplace will determine the long-term success of our member's businesses," said Jonathan Garriss, Executive Director of PESA. Mr. Garriss added, "If consumers are concerned that they may have a bad experience when shopping on eBay, they will make their online purchases elsewhere."

PESA's study makes several recommendations for addressing shopper concerns when browsing eBay. The study can be viewed from the organization's website at www.gopesa.org

The Professional eBay Sellers Alliance is an organization representing many of the highest volume merchants on eBay. The members of PESA conducted more than 70 million transactions and over $1 billion in merchandise sales on eBay in the past 12 months. The Organization was formed in August 2003 to address the needs of high volume merchants on eBay.
