Pennsylvania Becomes Home to Brand New ‘COVID-Friendly’ Physical and Spiritual Adventure

BOILING SPRINGS, Pa. -- Co-owners Cody Meassick and Chris Paradysz present the opening of Adventure Explorations, a multi-disciplined, concierge adventure company using top-notch gear and guides to create custom experiences. With discovery at its heart, adventure creates extraordinary moments of clarity, truth and connection, making Adventure Explorations a safe, timely answer to the increasingly disconnected, fractured age of COVID-19. The experience is launching July 8 in Boiling Springs, Pa.

Adventure Explorations includes rock climbing, kayaking, canoeing, fly and spinner-fishing, Italian cycling, hiking, touring and team-building exercises. The adventures are all-inclusive, including gear, guides, gourmet meals, drinks and safety equipment. Adventures range between $125 and $400 per person for a four- or eight-hour experience.

"Both Chris and I felt so strongly that we were in a moment that people needed to reconnect with their own truths and their own needs," said Cody Meassick, who also serves as the company's lead guide. "We believe that nature and exploration can provide that unlike anything else."

Adventures are guided privately and conducted in groups of six or less. With comprehensive COVID-19 guidelines in place, Adventure Explorations uses a combination of both masks and social distancing to ensure maximum safety of both clients and company partners. Soon they'll have a limited line of products, including masks, available for sale on the AE website and sold directly.

Because Adventure Exploration's service is concierge-level and specialized, they create customized adventures and accommodations for participants wishing to create their own day of fun and relaxation. Others may wish to dig in deeper to develop grit and get some exercise, while still others will use the opportunity to learn about new hobbies and possibilities. For those looking for solitude and reflection without the physical activity, the company also offers a meditative experience. Accommodations are available for individuals with physical limitations and those who lack athletic experience.

"Adventure Explorations creates adventures for everyone, no exceptions," said Chris Paradysz. "We are a fully inclusive company and believe that each person has their own needs and desires: we are simply the bridge and connection between this and possibility."

Robot Helps with Social Distancing at Space Golf in Illinois

OLAND PARK, Ill. -- As Illinois prepares to move to Phase Four of its re-opening plan, one small business, Space Golf, has employed a robot to help serve customers and reduce direct person-to-person contact, during the days of COVID-19.

The three-foot-tall, remote-controlled character, known as L-10, fits right in at the science fiction-themed family entertainment center. In addition to bringing guests their pizza, ice cream and drinks in the Sci-fi Cafe dining room, L-10 will be seen sweeping on the blacklight mini golf course or just checking on golfers.

Ray Radelia, Space Golf's designer/builder says that the little robot is just one of the steps being taken, as the fun center prepares to re-open: "We've installed plastic panels at all employee/guest interaction points and developed intense cleaning and sanitizing schedules for the lobby, restrooms, kitchen, golf course, arcade and virtual reality ride. Of course, we have touchless hand sanitizing stations throughout."

Space Golf is moving to an online reservation system and for now, the golf course capacity will be twenty-five percent.

L-10 will also make appearances on the 18-hole blacklight golf course, which is themed with spaceships, intergalactic aliens and giant robots. While the 40-person party room is not available right now, Space Golf does plan to resume hosting parties, when it is safe to do so.

Space Golf is located at 15611 S. 94th Avenue, in Orland Park. They can be reached online at https://www.space-golf.com/ or by phone at (708) 460-3887.

Harlem Wizards Committed to Driving Equality, Fairness and Justice for All

NEW YORK, N.Y. -- The Harlem Wizards' players, staff and support personnel want to express their deep sympathy to the families of Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor and George Floyd. As an organization, it's saddened to see the images of such heinous murders. This is very personal for the group as 90 percent of the players are people of color, and this could have been one of them or their family members.

In order for the players to have a platform to collectively share their thoughts and feelings, a Zoom conference call was organized to give Harlem Wizards' players a voice and outlet to provide their perspective on these issues of inequality and injustice.

Reactions to these horrendous murders was anger, disappointment, resignation, pain and sadness. The common questions that emerged were: "How do we get past this?" "How can I make it safe for my kids?" "How can I feel completely comfortable and welcome in the USA?" "Will this ever change?"

King Arthur Lewis, Jr., the inspiration for the "Team of We" movement, shared that, "We have to have sustained perseverance, like the 381-day Birmingham bus boycott that ended busing segregation in Birmingham. We can protest and demand equality, but our challenge is to stand up for these things that we believe in while coming from a place of love and inclusion."

Todd Davis, CEO Harlem Wizards, said, "It was heartbreaking to hear the players' experience of living a somewhat double life. Respected and beloved while in 'Wizard' mode, but subject to a different reality when the uniform is removed. What was gratifying was that the players shared their authentic experiences and came together."

The key Zoom meeting takeaways included a desire to continue to bring people together through fun, inspiration and exciting trick-hoops, but also a shared hope to go beyond that and to be part of the healing and educational conversation about race relations and the challenges faced as a nation.

"We believe that through our travels around the USA that we have an opportunity and moral obligation to share our thoughts with the millions of students we see each year," Davis says.

Eric Jones, the longest-tenured Wizard of 22 years and one of the player-coaches said, "As an organization we have entertained fans across the globe for the past 59 years and we have brought families and communities together through basketball. This is not just what we do, this is who we are. This commitment to educating and fostering connection and understanding is a natural next step for the organization, fostered by where we are right now in this national conversation."

Dwayne "Swoop" Simpson, a 13-year Wizard and a player-coach said, "This is about fair treatment and justice for African-Americans, but it's also about humanity and making the world a better place for all."

The Wizards participated in a peaceful rally in Paramus, N.J. at Paramus High School on Tuesday, June 9.

Wonderland Water Park at ACE Adventure Resort Announces Reopening Date

OAK HILL, W.Va. -- ACE Adventure Resort, an adventure resort based in The New River Gorge, began rafting, ziplining, and rock climbing trips last weekend, after guidance provided by the state of West Virginia was released. The resort, which encompasses 1,500 acres bordering the New River Gorge National River, announced today their plans to open their most popular attraction, Wonderland Waterpark.

Wonderland Waterpark, located in the center of ACE Adventure Resort, is a five-acre spring fed lake full of inflatable toys, including giant planets for you to spin on, water trampolines, and a waterslide that descends from a 3-story tower. The waterpark typically opens prior to Memorial Day, but was delayed this season due to COVID-19 related precautions in place by the state of West Virginia. But, with swimming pools being added to Governor Jim Justice's Week 5 Reopening Plan, ACE will begin welcoming their first guests into the waterpark for the 2020 season on May 30.

In order to ensure social distancing at Wonderland Waterpark, ACE has implemented some changes to their operating procedures.

"Our normal operating day has been innovated from top to bottom to maintain proper social distancing and to adhere to state regulations," said Haynes Mansfield, Marketing Director at ACE Adventure Resort. "Some of the major changes include a significant cap to the number of tickets sold each day, online ticket sales only, and checking the temperature of each guest upon entry."

The waterpark will allow a maximum of 240 guests per half-day session, and their restaurant will be open following the guidelines for restaurants in place by the state of West Virginia.

To celebrate the reopening of Wonderland Waterpark, season passes can be purchased for 20% off through May 31 on ACEraft.com. These passes will be valid for one year, beginning on the first date that they are used. Additionally, in conjunction with Governor Jim Justice's WVSTRONG State Parks Lodging Discount, all cabins and camping at ACE will be 30% off for instate residents though June.

Kidventure to Open Texas Summer Programs

AUSTIN, Texas -- After much consultation with our health professionals including infectious disease doctors and pediatricians, with newly released Guidelines for Summer Camps from the Governor's Task Force, representatives from the CDC, and many families, Kidventure, one of the largest private summer camp organizations in Texas since 1994, has made the decision to open camp programs beginning June 1, 2020 at over 24 locations in Houston, Dallas, and Austin.

The decision involved a variety of questions and obvious concerns. Can we provide a program that will mitigate the spread of Covid-19? Do we have the infrastructure to provide for the guidelines set forth by the CDC and our State? Will camp provide for the greater good of our communities? And will camp, with all its new protocols and procedures actually be 'camp' for those that need it most?

Kidventure has operated summer camps in Texas since 1994. It uses the foundations of camp to help improve the lives of its campers, caring for the mental, social, and physical wellbeing of children.

Kidventure's President, Mike McDonell said, "Never has that need - camp - been more crucial for children than right now. We believe that camp affords children with a unique opportunity to grow in confidence, to provide for hope, to battle against fear, and thrive."

Kidventure will take 26 years of experience and combine that with guidelines and protocols designed to help slow the spread of Covid-19, create a camp physical environment that is cleaner, and will implement systems to keep small groups of campers as one, and limit the flow of larger groups together. In addition, Kidventure will prescreen all those entering campsites and plans to monitor the health and wellbeing of its campers and staff during the camp day.

McDonell added, "The guidelines are not designed to be fool-proof? But the mental health of our children and the economic viability of our families and communities is not either."

Together with health professionals, Kidventure will update guidelines and will make necessary changes when and where needed.

Camps Coordinator and Vice President, Michael Valka said, "We will do as we have always done, and work to do our best. We are certain your child's experience at camp will provide them with the opportunity to reunite with friends, to once again run free, and we are certain their time with us will be cause for happiness, joy, and fun."

Kidventure has created a comprehensive Summer Camp Handbook During COVID-19 that contains all the new guidelines recently presented by the State of Texas as well as many of their own.

Kidventure has also created information on its website to help assist parents and children with questions and information about Summer Day Camp 2020.

Epix Gear Launches Made in the USA Custom-Designed Sports Apparel

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. -- Colorado-based sports apparel company, Epix Gear, has announced the re-shoring of their apparel production with the opening of a made in the USA facility in Tempe, Arizona.

The newly-established venture named Race Rabbit Manufacturing will produce the full range of custom-designed apparel Epix offers, including triathlon, cycling, and running styles.

"Epix has produced in China since 2009. We made the decision to move production back to the US as the business landscape has changed and US production is now a good choice for small, niche manufacturers," said Jarek Barc, President at Epix Gear. "Through moving our production, we are supporting new jobs and growth in the local economy. It's a move that resonates with our clients."

Barc added: "US manufacturing is cost competitive for a specific product range and requirements. When it comes to custom-designed performance sports apparel in small or even individual order quantities, we've found that there is no longer a relevant cost advantage to offshore production."

Epix Gear is a family-owned and operated brand that creates custom-designed apparel for teams, coaches, events, universities, organizations, as well as individual athletes. The Race Rabbit facility imports only the raw materials for production, such as fabrics and trims, mostly from Italy. All assembly is done in-house with fully-integrated sublimation printing, laser cutting, stitching and packaging.

"The new facility is specifically designed for the new custom apparel landscape. Our US production will allow unparalleled flexibility and speed," said Barc. "With our partnership with Race Rabbit, Epix can expand it's ability to offer an even more personalized experience, with customization options on retail apparel, tailored fit, and production view which will allow customers to see photos and videos of their product as it's being created, not to mention shorter lead times and a quicker response."

He added, "This transparency in production is especially unique; the production space has always been considered a 'black box' because brands didn't want to showcase where their products were made. We've had a very positive response from customers when they see the work, technology, and attention to details that goes into making their apparel. We are excited to open this new chapter."

Almost 8 in 10 American consumers say they would rather buy an American-made product than an imported one, according to a Consumer Reports survey. And more than 60 percent say they're even willing to pay 10 percent more for it. The US government has recently urged US companies to move out of China and reshore jobs, though the vast majority of those who have moved out of China did not reshore manufacturing to the US and instead moved to a different offshore sourcing country.
