SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- The 3rd Annual Art Fur Paws Online Auction to benefit the Sacramento SPCA will be live at Witherell's from November 18 to December 2, 2021. Now in its third year, this two-week auction will feature artwork by many of the region's finest artists, as well as antiques, collectibles, and jewelry, all donated by Sacramento SPCA supporters.

One such piece is an original oil painting by the late Gregory Kondos titled "French Irises," created by the artist while in France. One of Northern California's best-known artists, Kondos exhibited this piece in a 2013 show at the Crocker Art Museum.

"I think bidders will be excited to see they have a chance to take home fantastic original art by many of Sacramento's renowned artists in about every medium imaginable," says Sacramento SPCA Board Vice President, Tracy Fairchild. "Since the proceeds from the auction go directly to the shelter, that means more funding for the Sacramento SPCA to provide life-saving care for animals in our community."

Major Part of James Dean’s Infamous Porsche 550 Spyder Heads to Auction – Bring A Trailer

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. -- More than 65 years after the infamous crash, a major component of the James Dean Porsche 550 Spyder will be offered at auction, Don Ahearn, Owner, announced today. This will be the first time ever a confirmed part of the Porsche 550 Spyder will be offered for sale. The online auction is being held by Bring A Trailer, the largest enthusiast based online auction site for unique automobiles, parts and Automobilia. Bring A Trailer is based in San Francisco, California.

Found in rural Massachusetts, the original and complete transaxle assembly has seen the light of day after being stored in a wooden crate and hidden from public view for over 30 years. An East Coast Porsche collector unveiled this discovery last September from the car that many Porsche enthusiasts consider to be the most famous of the marque.

This assembly may be the only documented and provable part of the James Dean Spyder known to still exist, and it is certainly the only part anyone may be able to see publicly. It is one of three permanently traceable components of a 550 Spyder. These include; the chassis, the engine, and the gearbox/transaxle. This transaxle is stamped with the correct factory serial number #10046.

The history of James Dean and his 550 Spyder has been well written elsewhere so there is no need to repeat it here in detail.

The original body/chassis #550-055 was reported stolen in 1960 while returning from a highway safety exhibit, never to be seen again. There have been rumors in past years of the whereabouts of the lost wreck though none have been substantiated. The original engine #P90059 is reported to still be in California, though it has not been seen nor verified in decades. This gearbox assembly could be the only verifiable part of the famous car that will ever be available to be seen by fans of James Dean.

Now removed from the wooden crate, the transaxle is mounted in a display stand custom fabricated by expert metal shaper Steve Hogue. It displays the assembly exactly as it was in the original 550 Spyder.

The online auction will end on Saturday May 29, 2021 at 2:05 ET.

Questions and inquiries should be directed to Marvin Waters, Auction agent for the owner or James Dean Historian, Lee Raskin

Senior Citizen to Auction Waterfall, Lake and Rustic Cabin Comprising His Private, 5.8-Acre Mountain Oasis in South Carolina

SUNSET, S.C. -- In the mountains of western South Carolina, on a private property in the picturesque, lake-dotted town of Sunset, you'll find a most unusual lawn ornament. It rises 60-feet toward the sky, which, for the measurement-impaired, is about five stories, according to auction firm Tranzon Fox. This towering ornament is a natural waterfall, resplendent as the breathtaking focal point of owner Roger Abercrombie's 5.8-acre property that might be more rightly termed a mountain oasis.

Of course, during the pandemic, many people set about improving their outdoor spaces. However, no matter the capaciousness of one's budget, nor the voraciousness of one's ambition, Mr. Abercrombie's waterfall almost certainly would prevail in any contest awarding a crown for best backyard decor. Yet, he does not overlook its more practical side.

While many of us in this addled age purchase white-noise machines, play recordings of babbling brooks, and devour articles with sleep-hygiene tips in a bid to obtain a more peaceful slumber, Abercrombie just takes a seat on the porch of his rustic cabin overlooking the waterfall and lake. He reports that, having done so, he just about always drifts off within five minutes, serenaded to sleep by the sounds of water cascading over the rocks.

Of course, in case you missed the part about the lake, it should be noted that, yes, he also has not just a waterfall, but also a lake to enjoy. (It sure beats the rest of us ordering kiddie pools off of Amazon.) And it's trout-stocked, no less -- so perhaps the sounds of the fish occasionally splashing around also contribute to Abercrombie's ability to drift so swiftly off to dreamland.

Then again, many details of this property are storybook-perfect, as if constructed for a dreamland scenario, not least of which is the aforementioned cabin, with its flagstone fireplace, native wood floors and ceilings, and open kitchen and large family room with that glorious, glorious view of the lake and waterfall.

Oh, and the neighbors...or rather the lack thereof might also help soothe some folks to sleep.

As anyone who's had neighbors they didn't enjoy might appreciate, Mr. Abercrombie's paradise is bordered on three sides by the Keowee-Toxaway State Park. It's also got a remote-controlled gate and fencing to deter curiosity-seekers.

However, if your curiosity has been piqued, you might be thrilled to learn that Abercrombie, having known this property since first being introduced to it when he was a toddler, has decided it's time for someone else to enjoy it. He and his wife have retained Tranzon Fox to sell it via online auction, with bidding open May 25-27, 2021. After it's sold, they plan to satisfy a wanderlust and travel the country in an RV, possibly settling down, ultimately, in a place more remote than Sunset.

As it were, Sunset is halfway between Atlanta and Charlotte, and 30 minutes north of Greenville, S.C., so this homestead easily allows use as a weekend getaway or family compound. And for those who need more room than the Abercrombies, there are a couple of suitable building sites, ideal for the construction of one's dream home. In fact, some have speculated it could even be a wonderful place to establish an inn, spa, restaurant, or other hospitality-oriented venture.

Ed Durnil, president of Tranzon Asset Advisors, who's partnering with Tranzon Fox on this sale, says, "In all my years, this is one of the most unique properties that's crossed my desk. And in a real estate market so lively that assessing the current value of even ordinary homes can be difficult, an auction is the perfect avenue to allow the buyers to help determine what this one-of-a-kind familial homestead is worth."

Ultimately, though, Mr. Abercrombie hopes that it will become a cherished part of the new owner's life and a wonderful source of family enjoyment - and that the new owners will find sleeping there comes just as easily to them as it does to him.

OfferMarket Adds Auctions to Commission-Free Real Estate Marketplace

BALTIMORE, Md. -- Today, OfferMarket, a technology-enabled real estate marketplace announced the launch of OfferMarket Auctions. The company's real estate auction framework promotes buyer competition, reduces transaction costs and delivers faster closing times.

Traditional real estate transactions can be expensive, slow and frustrating for sellers. Sellers typically pay 5-6% commission to agents, spend an additional 1-5% on repairs and staging, and another 0-5% on inspection-related concessions. OfferMarket uses ecommerce marketplace principles and a streamlined, managed transaction flow (forms, titlework) to save money and time for buyers and sellers. Transactions on OfferMarket are as-is, and sellers avoid costly commissions and repairs.

OfferMarket receives a fixed service fee, typically $1,250 to $5,000, paid by the buyer at closing. A $250,000 house sold on OfferMarket would save at least $10,000 for the seller as compared to a traditional "on-market" transaction.

"It's amazing how much buyer competition we are generating and how much time and money we are saving the sellers who use our auction feature," says Daniel Sperling-Horowitz, CEO of OfferMarket. Sperling-Horowitz previously founded Zentail, an ecommerce marketplace software company backed by Y Combinator.

"With on-market housing inventory near record lows, buyers are increasingly looking off-market for their next purchase," added Sperling-Horowitz.

"I contacted OfferMarket with a bit of skepticism and very little expectation of selling my property but, within only 3 days, they had several prospective buyers inspecting the home. Very fortunately, one put in an offer which was [17% above] my asking price. From then on, their handling of the process was superb. We closed on the scheduled date. I would (and will) recommend them to anyone that I encounter who has a property to sell," said Tony Santaniello from Scranton, PA.

Your Chance to Own the Lasso of Truth! Rare Wonder Woman Comics and Iconic Movie Props Up for Auction

NEW YORK, N.Y. -- Wonder Woman, the most popular female superhero, continues her meteoric rise. Her much-anticipated movie sequel, "Wonder Woman 1984," will be released in early fall. But before then, fans and collectors can score a piece of her magic, including original comic books and a one-of-a-kind movie prop, thanks to ComicConnect's August Event Auction. They'll also be able to bid on coveted superhero movie props, which rarely - if ever - come up for auction.

"We've seen again and again that successful superhero movies drive up related comic values-so our winning bidders can expect to see their investments grow," notes Vincent Zurzolo, co-owner of the leading vintage comic book marketplace.

And, he notes, Wonder Woman is special. She's not only as popular as Batman and Superman, she's also an authentic feminist icon.

The creation of Dr. William Moulton Marston, the Amazing Amazon first appeared in comics in 1941. Not surprisingly, her character proved popular with little girls - including feminist activist Gloria Steinem, who, in 1972, put her on the inaugural cover of Ms. magazine, a groundbreaking feminist publication. In 2016, the United Nations named Wonder Woman a UN Honorary Ambassador for the Empowerment of Women and Girls. Her recent movies have brought her even more fans.

Featured Wonder Woman Auction Items

ComicConnect's Event Auction #43 kicks off on August 1 and ends August 24-28. Some of the most anticipated items include:

The Lasso of Truth Movie Prop from "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" (Warner Bros., 2016)

This incredibly-rare production item was created for Wonder Woman's first movie appearance. It includes a Certificate of Authenticity from Hero Prop, a highly-respected dealer of movie memorabilia.

The lasso, Wonder Woman's signature weapon, compels those in its grasp to tell the truth. (Ironically, her creator, Dr. Marston, also invented the first lie detector.) It's expected to sell for $15-$20,000.

All Star Comics #8, CGC-graded 9.4

Comics featuring a character's first appearance are typically the most valuable. This 1941 comic marked Wonder Woman's first appearance and is the highest-graded copy in existence. In 2017, it sold for $936,223, so this time it may break $1 million.

Sensation Comics #1, CGC 9.6

This issue marked Wonder Woman's second appearance. This is the single-highest graded CGC-certified copy.

Wonder Woman #6, CGC 9.4

Also the highest-graded copy in existence, this comic marked the first appearance of Cheetah, Wonder Woman's archenemy. It's particularly significant because Cheetah, as played by Kristin Wiig, is featured in the upcoming movie.

Featured Movie Props

As superhero movies have triumphed at the box office, movie props have become another sought-after collectible. These storied rarities - all which come with Certificates of Authenticity - will also be up for auction:
* Thor's Hammer, Mjolnir - One of the most recognizable props in movie history, as wielded by Chris Hemsworth in "Thor: The Dark World" (2013). Anticipated sale price: $30-40,000.
* Captain America's Combat Helmet - As worn by Chris Evans in "Captain America: The First Avenger" (2011). Anticipated sale price: $20-30,000.
* Captain America's USO Heater Shield - The heroes signature weapon, also from "The First Avenger." Anticipated sale price: $25-30,000.
* Deadshot's Wrist Gun Gauntlet from "Suicide Squad" - The very one worn by Will Smith in the 2016 blockbuster. Anticipated sale price: $5-7,000.
* Wolverine's Claws - Flaunted by Hugh Jackman in "X-Men" (2000). Wolverine is one of the most popular characters in the Marvel Universe. Anticipated sale price: $10-15,000.

Comics and Collectibles Continue to Increase in Value

According to Zurzolo, despite the COVID-19 crisis, comic and collectibles sales have been brisk, perhaps as collectors find more time to devote to their collections. Because of the heightened interest in Wonder Woman, he expects to see some record-breaking sales.

After all, one 5.0 graded issue of All Star Comics #8 multiplied 450% in value in three years after Wonder Woman's first big-screen appearance, when the sale price increased from $15,000 in 2013 to $67,000 in 2016.

Those who are interested can follow the bidding in real-time at ComicConnect. In addition to vintage comics, original art, and video games, the auction house has recently expanded to offer original movie props, concert posters and pulp fiction.

CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. -- Maltz Auctions, a premier full-service auction company serving the Continental United States and Caribbean, announced it has a well-qualified, interested party who placed a $3m stalking horse bid for the idyllic 155-acre Green Mountain College Campus, anchoring Main Street, in the Historic downtown of Poultney, Vermont, which was previously listed at $23m.

"This quintessential New England campus had been the home of Green Mountain College, a private 4-year liberal arts school focused on environmental, social, and economic sustainability, which unfortunately closed at the end of 2019," stated Keith Lowey of Verdolino & Lowey, the Chief Restructuring Officer for Green Mountain College. "It's truly a turn-key opportunity for the right buyer as it is comprised of classic New England dormitory buildings, classrooms, administrative offices, lecture halls, cafeteria, student center, community space, library building, athletic facilities- including fields, gymnasium, pool, and more, a 400-seat theater/auditorium, fine arts studios and galleries, a working farm, guest residences and a campus-wide wood-fueled biomass (carbon neutral) heating system." Lowey then added, "In 2016 the property was appraised at $20m. There are also favorable financing options available for qualified buyers with $3.2m being the next bid increment accepted."

Maltz Auction's CEO, Richard Maltz shared, "We are pleased there was great interest in this property as it represents an exceptionally rare opportunity to acquire an environmentally sustainable, green campus that is superbly located and beautifully maintained in a single transaction. The party who placed the $3m stalking horse bid understands that there is incredible reuse or redevelopment potential- and great value."

The Green Mountain Campus is in southern Vermont's beautiful lakes region, with the Adirondack Mountains to the west and the Green Mountains to the east. The 155-acre campus situated on the New York-Vermont border features classic red-brick and slate roof buildings, athletic fields, a working farm, hiking and bike trails, and much more.

The property sits at the intersection of College Street and Main Street in the heart of Poultney, a vibrant and quaint New England village of 3,400 residents, which has been recognized, along with 22 others in Vermont, as a historic downtown. Poultney is home to an extensive bike trail network as well as to Lake St. Catherine and Lake St. Catherine State Park, a 117-acre destination park, campground and nature center. Lake Bomoseen State Park is less than a 15-minute ride north of Poultney. Both the Killington and Okemo ski areas are less than an hour away.

The town of Poultney is located 'in the middle of everywhere', bordered by Ira & Middletown Springs to the east, Fair Haven and Castleton to the north, Hampton (NY) to the west, and Wells to the south. Poultney is approximately 80 miles southwest of Vermont's capital city (Montpelier), 70 miles south of Vermont's largest city (Burlington) and 65 miles west of the Vermont/New Hampshire border in White River Junction. Poultney is also proximate to Saratoga Springs (50 miles southwest of Poultney) and Albany (70 miles southwest of Poultney) in New York state.

In addition, great shopping, year-round recreational activities, skiing destinations (including Vermont's premier ski resort, Killington Mountain) and college towns including Burlington (VT), Bennington (VT), Middlebury (VT) and Queensbury (NY) are located nearby.

The closest city to Poultney is Rutland, Vermont, which is the largest town in Vermont after Burlington and South Burlington. The city of Rutland is located approximately 20 miles northeast of Poultney, or a 25-30-minute drive via Route 30 & Route 4. Rutland offers the Rutland Regional Medical Center as well as an eclectic mix of shopping, restaurants, bars, cafés as well as cultural and entertainment venues and attractions. The state of Vermont, known as the Green Mountain state, ranks as the healthiest and best-educated state in the country.

Going, Going, Gone: Established Real Estate Agent Leaves Brokerage World During a Pandemic to Embrace the Advantages of Auctions

CHESAPEAKE, Va. -- In a pandemic-ravaged economy that's left few industries untouched - with many having had to completely rethink and reorient operations within a short window of time - one might question why someone would leave an established career to set off on a new venture. However, that's exactly what Seth A. White chose to do, noted real estate auction firm Tranzon Fox has announced today.

Five years into a career as an agent for two of the leading residential real estate brokerage firms in Hampton Roads, during which time he handled transactions that reached eye-watering highs of nearly $2 million for waterfront homes - something many agents still dream of achieving - he was seeking a chance to better differentiate himself and an opportunity that would allow him to lean into the wind-buffeted economy, rather than push against it.

Although he had previously explored the possibility of immersing himself in the real estate auction business, partly because it would enable him to continue representing residential clients while also stepping into the commercial realm, he ultimately decided it was not the right time.

"I continued to see the value in having the opportunity to serve my clients with an accelerated sale process using focused marketing that would ensure an asset yielded a price in line with its current market value. And sellers love the as-is purchase contracts that typify the auction business," said White, Tranzon Fox's newest auction associate.

So, in the turbulent present, in which some industries have been hammered relentlessly while a few have prospered, and Wall Street is up substantially one day and down the next, leaving values of many assets less clear, Mr. White decided this was the time to embrace auctions. "There's obviously a large advantage in being able to sell a property for the highest possible price in the shortest reasonable period of time through a transparent bidding process. Many private sellers choose it for its efficiency, but, of course, I will also be able to assist in foreclosures, bankruptcies, and other situations of distress and duress, when efficiency and time are not just optional, but mandated," he said. Furthermore, Mr. White knows that, "time is money, and executing for my clients will become ever more important as we navigate through these delicate periods of time."

Ultimately, what convinced White was Tranzon Fox's established ability to sell and close or obtain ratified contracts on a variety of properties during the pandemic era, from the low-end, to a $3 million-plus veterinary hospital / boarding / grooming facility. This includes asset types that have been hammered of late, namely retail and restaurants.

"They're still getting deals done, and I want to be a part of that," White said. "Now is the time."

About Tranzon:
