Premier Vintage Motoring and Luxury Lifestyle Event, Concours d’Elegance of Texas, Announces its Relocation to Arlington, Texas

ARLINGTON, Texas -- The Concours d'Elegance of Texas announced that it will hold its annual three-day vintage car celebration event in the Arlington Entertainment District (previously hosted in the Houston area). The Concours d'Elegance of Texas is one of the largest vintage motoring and luxury lifestyle events in the state, a world-class gathering of collector cars and vintage motorcycles in a wonderful park setting.

The term "Concours d'Elegance" means "contest of elegance" and dates back to the 17th century when the French aristocracy would meet in the parks of Paris during summer weekends and parade in their horse-drawn carriages, each decorated more elegant than the next! Over time, carriages became horseless and the gatherings became competitions among automobile owners.

Mike Ames, Chairman of the Concours d'Elegance of Texas commented, "We are genuinely excited about our move to Arlington and look forward to being part of the continuing development of the Arlington Entertainment District. The City of Arlington and the Arlington Convention and Visitors Bureau have been extremely helpful and we look forward to working together to make our Concours of Texas one of the top-tier exhibitions in the country."

Jeff Williams, Mayor of Arlington commented, "I'm very excited about Arlington's opportunity to host the Concours d'Elegance of Texas - it adds great emphasis to our automotive heritage and it will be another world-class event for our city on a national stage and a destination for the exhibition of amazing classic cars right here in the center of the country."

The 6th annual event will be held the weekend of April 21-23, 2017 at the Richard Greene Linear Park and the Arlington Convention Center. Events throughout the weekend Include:

FENDER FRIEND LLC Offers Autonomous App to Licensors and Automotive OEMs

NEW YORK, N.Y. -- New York-based FENDER FRIEND LLC is pleased to offer the autonomous app Fender Friend(TM) for licensing, effective Feb. 1, 2017. The Fender Friend seeks to provide older model vehicles with capabilities such as automatic braking and parking assistance, as just two examples of amenities currently standard in newer automobiles.

Recognizing the potential for combining the convenience of wireless remote technology with a cellular smartphone to enhance life in a unique way, CEO Rohan Bennett has conceived a clever product invention he has creatively designated the Fender Friend. Bennett already has a Provisional Patent in place.

The app software, wirelessly connected to the car's computer, would be able to sense an obstacle or other vehicle, and send a command to the vehicle's brake system to stop -- eliminating human error which can potentially save countless lives in an emergency.

The app will also link with a specialized camera sensor to display the area behind the vehicle, so that the user need only look at the phone's screen for parking assistance. Further assuring that technology adequately compensates, and that the safety bar has been raised.

Simply stated, the Fender Friend is envisioned as a smartphone application that integrates a motor vehicle's computer system with the app's software. In this manner, Fender Friend provides a means of infusing older vehicles with certain safety amenities that are germane to newer auto models.

There are several significant benefits and advantages associated with this unique product invention. Foremost, the Fender Friend would provide consumers with an efficient means of enhancing the driving experience, regardless of the age of the vehicle. A creative fusing of wireless remote and cellular smartphone technology, this versatile application would offer a functional communications device that cleverly doubles as onboard vehicle activator.

While many vehicles that are five to ten years old are not equipped with now standard features such as parking assistance and automatic breaking, two necessary safety amenities, the Fender Friend program and system would offer these features to motorists for whom it is not practical to purchase a brand new vehicle.

With this clever system enhanced by additional remote features, a motorist who is informed by a co-worker that her headlights were left on can simply extinguish them with the pressing of a few buttons on her cell phone.

A father who suddenly awakens, worried that he may have left his car unlocked, need only to use Fender Friend to check the security status of his auto, without even getting out of bed. The Fender Friend is an innovative product invention that would bring added security and convenience to busy daily lives the world over. Simple to operate, this handy product would allow users to remotely enhance their car's computer system to match its functionality with a brand new vehicle.

Affordably priced, the Fender Friend should be well received by the vast majority of motorists, a very sizable market potential.

Even though FENDER FRIEND LLC attained a recommendation from patent agents to move forward with its invention after extensive searches, there was still the ever present factor of prior art - which is the common thread of all inventions - and whether or not the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) would grant it a patent.

With a Provisional Patent already in place, Rohan Bennett then filed a UCC 1, which is a first come first served approach to propriety. This along with perfecting a Security Agreement with his company assures him that he is first in line when it comes to interest in his technology, and perhaps more importantly, lets other potential interests know that he has a commercial lien on it.

Rohan says, "I would like to license this technology to Bosch USA or another major tech/parts player that can develop and introduce my vision to motorists with older vehicles the world over."

As for a favorite quote Rohan says this one seems appropriate in 2017: "The sun will still shine no matter who is the President" (Barack Obama).

In 2010 Rohan Bennett, who lives in New Rochelle, N.Y., wanted to stream audio and video with his app Tangaru Tunes. This year, Rohan hopes to save lives.

Attorney M. David Shapiro Advises Consumers about Post-Crash Insurance Rate Hikes

SARASOTA, Fla. -- M. David Shapiro, founding partner of the personal injury and civil trial law firm Shapiro Goldman Babboni & Walsh, has offered consumers insight into auto insurance rate-hikes that can occur after being involved in an accident.

Mr. Shapiro said: "One of the very first questions I hear from clients who have been involved in an auto collision is 'will my insurance rates go up?' It depends.

"Florida Statute 626.9541(o)3.a. prohibits, 'imposing or requesting an additional premium for a policy of motor vehicle liability, personal injury protection, medical payment, or collision insurance or any combination thereof or refusing to renew the policy solely because the insured was involved in in a motor vehicle accident unless the insurer's file contains information from which the insurer in good faith determines that the insured was substantially at fault for the accident.'

"Although it appears to make it illegal to raise the rate or cancel the insurance, the last part provides some cover to the insurer to use his or her judgment to penalize with rate increase or drop them altogether. It will not necessarily turn on the investigating officer's decision as to who deserved the ticket. The concept of 'fault' is a moving target."

Mr. Shapiro continued with, "Another factor considered when establishing rates and whether to drop a policy is the number of claims a person has made, regardless of fault. In order to raise rates or drop a person, some insurance companies will consider a road-side assistance as a claim in order to justify their actions.

"Nothing in the law is black or white. But to not utilize the insurance when you have a legitimate claim defeats the very purpose the premiums were paid in the first place. Your lawyer should know the law regarding insurance increases and be prepared to fight when the injured victim is being abused by the carrier when he or she needs them the most."

About Sarasota Attorney M. David Shapiro:

Attorney M. David Shapiro is an AV-rated civil trial lawyer, the highest rating awarded to litigation attorneys. He is also board certified by the Florida Bar. Shapiro is an experienced trial lawyer who has earned the respect of his peers in the legal community. David has successfully litigated civil rights cases involving access to courts and rights under the Rehabilitation Act to the United States Supreme Court. For more than 20 years, Shapiro has practiced exclusively in the area of personal injury and wrongful death in Sarasota, Florida.

Some Things Are Better the Second Time Around

WAPPINGER FALLS, N.Y., -- Some things are worth celebrating twice, says Frank Nicodemus of Castle Cadillac Restorations in Wappinger Falls, New York. Like a hole in one at a PGA course. Or the time you scratched off that lottery ticket and - BINGO.

One of those rare days when two cars prepared by the same local restorer, win their "senior badge" at the Antique Automobile Club of America at the same time. The calculated odds on this are about 3,000 to 1.

"Both Cadillacs won their Senior Badges at the recent AACA Hershey Fall Meet," says Nicodemus, who with his business partner, Chris Semke, laid on the coats of paint and clear coat, made sure every bolt was the right one in the right place and shined the last piece of chrome on those cars. "But we were too busy restoring Cadillacs in our restoration facility to really celebrate with the owners, so we sat down with them the other night with a bottle of champagne."

The AACA "Senior Badge" doesn't look like much - it's just a little metal plaque the diameter of a softball to be attached to the radiator - but it's the highest award that can be bestowed by the oldest car club in the nation.

"Not only were both of these cars chosen to receive their senior badges, but both were chosen to represent 1 of 300 cars for the AACA National Awards. There are at least 3,500 vehicles shown or driven in AACA national events and only 300 vehicles are nominated for National Awards. It is a great honor that both of our entries not only won their Senior Badges but both were chosen for the National Awards at the same time," Semke said.

The first one is a 1960 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz owned by Jack Haverty and the other is 1958 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz owned by Joe Kelley.

Jack Haverty's 1960 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz was eye candy for the judges; it was the rarity of the Pompeian Red and one of 99 bucket seat car from a limited production. Joe Kelley's 1958 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz painted Rajah Silver Metallic with its re-anodized Gold grill and flawless mirrored finish saber wheels pushed this car over the top.

Mr. Haverty and Mr. Kelley waited patiently while the lengthy restorations were painstakingly performed by Semke and Nicodemus and the team ensured the perfection of each car. The final product was an impeccable restoration worthy of Semke's and Nicodemus' worldwide reputation.

"We are currently restoring and planning to enter next year another 1960 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz with rare bucket seats finished in Sienna Rose" Nicodemus said. "It will truly be a jaw-dropper."
