SecuGen Releases Hamster Pro Trio for Multi-factor Authentication

SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- SecuGen, a world leading optical fingerprint device and technology vendor, is pleased to announce the immediate availability of the Hamster Pro Trio, a multi-factor authentication device that contains an FBI-certified FAP 20 fingerprint reader and both contact and contactless smart card readers.

The new 3-in-1 reader combines fingerprint biometrics and two modes of smart card technologies to allow greater flexibility in deploying multi-factor authentication. The Hamster Pro Trio enables a person to prove their identity with "what they have" - a smart card-and "what they are" - their fingerprints, which can help increase security for a wide variety of applications such as National ID programs, employee identification, physical access control, immigration clearance, patient and healthcare provider ID, and remote work.

In addition to these diverse applications, the Hamster Pro Trio is designed to be compatible with the U.S. FIPS 201 Personal Identity Verification (PIV) program for government employees as well as the U.S. Department of Defense Common Access Card Next Generation (DoD CAC NG) and U.S. Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).

The Hamster Pro Trio features SecuGen's flagship U20-A fingerprint sensor combined with both a contactless smart card reader based on the AB Circle CIM315F-01 chipset and a contact smart card reader based on the Identiv CLOUD 2100 R chipset. The Identiv CLOUD 2100 R is compatible with the Identiv uTrust 2700 R smart card reader. The Hamster Pro Trio is housed in a case having the same form factor as the Hamster Pro Duo SC/PIV but adds in the contactless card reader with virtually no change in size and weight to the device.

"We built the Hamster Pro Trio to give more options for integrators and developers to implement stronger authentication solutions based on well-established technologies without sacrificing convenience," stated Dan Riley, SecuGen's Vice President of Engineering. "The SecuGen engineering team has once again successfully created a high-quality product but at an affordable price."

SecuGen is known around the world and throughout the biometrics industry for providing high quality fingerprint products at prices suitable for large deployments. The new Hamster Pro Trio is yet another premium product attractively priced for such deployments.

Won Lee, CEO of SecuGen, added, "We are excited to announce this new combination product. Our team is continually focused on delivering high quality products and tools that our reseller partners require. As were many of our products, the Hamster Pro Trio was created in direct response to the requirements of our partners."

SecuGen distributes its products through a worldwide network of OEMs, software companies and systems integrators. As a result, SecuGen products are available on every continent through local partners that provide convenient support in the language and time zone of end-user customers.

Realtime North America and SecuGen Collaborate to Provide Strong Biometric Authentication to SAP

SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- SecuGen, a world leading optical fingerprint device and technology vendor, is pleased to announce the exclusive integration of SecuGen fingerprint readers with realtime North America's bioLock software.

The Check ID in SAP fraud prevention and accountability technology provided in realtime's bioLock software is known to significantly increase SAP security by protecting any function in SAP with a 2nd biometric factor. Security is of paramount importance because 77% of all global business transactions touch an SAP system, which is used by most global Fortune 500 companies and governments.

As an example, bioLock can trigger the bioLock security check when a high-volume financial transfer is attempted. Also, bioLock can check the identity of one or multiple authorized users (if using dual controls) to limit the risk of corruption and collusion. A log file records all functions and the uniquely identifiable users who executed those functions. Therefore, if a user is trying to execute a protected function that they are not allowed to access, an automated message can instantly inform the security team that a potential fraud attempt is in progress.

Most fraud cases start with a borrowed password and an attempted account takeover. Realtime's granular biometric control center is installed inside SAP to protect SAP from the inside out. BioLock can protect not only the logon to SAP but, more importantly, any SAP transaction or function like saving or pressing the enter key. Fingerprints can help to undeniably connect a transaction with the user's true identity. So now, for example, you can prove who created the purchase order or issued that multi-million-dollar wire transfer.

Realtime's bioLock has been tested to work with some of SecuGen's best-selling fingerprint readers, including Hamster Pro 20, Hamster Pro 10, and Hamster Pro Duo SC/PIV. Each of these readers are FBI-certified for image quality and are used by commercial firms and governments around the world. SecuGen has designed these readers to be accurate, rugged, and affordable making them ideal for large deployments.

Jeff Brown, VP of Sales of SecuGen stated, "We are always on the lookout for partners who can take our fingerprint readers and add significant value in the marketplace. Realtime North America clearly does this with their software integration. BioLock provides tremendous value to SAP users who want to step up their security with powerful fingerprint technology."

"Our first bioLock technology was certified by SAP 20 years ago," added Thomas Neudenberger, Chief Operating Officer of realtime North America. "When it became time to build a brand-new fingerprint client technology from scratch, we choose SecuGen and built a client software that is exclusively compatible with SecuGen fingerprint readers."

Neudenberger continued, "With bioLock reseller partners in all continents, we had to integrate a high-quality fingerprint sensor that was globally available at a reasonable cost. SecuGen checked all the boxes. Certified for bioLock for 15 years, SecuGen was our recommended choice for fingerprint reauthentication with bioLock."

Won Lee, CEO of SecuGen said, "We have been partnering with realtime North America for well over a decade. This is the type of partnership we are always looking for. The software that realtime developed helps corporations solve real problems, and we are proud to be teaming up with them."

You can see how the SecuGen fingerprint reader works with bioLock technology in this YouTube video: https://youtu.be/6HVuOGeNEOQ

Securitronics Meets Rochester Regional Health’s Sensitive Security Through ZKTeco USA’s Touchless Biometric Access Control

ALPHARETTA, Ga. -- Rochester Regional Health needed to enhance security at key health system facilities throughout Western New York. Securitronics, a security company specializing in the provision of intelligent, technologically empowered security systems was contacted for this project. In turn, Securitronics connected with ZKTeco USA to deploy a new state-of-the art access control solution using SpeedFace, a multi-functional, touchless standalone access control reader with facial and palm vein recognition.

Securitronics has installed these readers at various other facilities spread across multiple industries with great success, so it was pleased to help Rochester Regional to optimize its security while avoiding an overbearing or unwelcoming experience for staff and patients.

SpeedFace's contact-less capabilities have proven transformative in healthcare environments. Practitioners, nurses, support staff and administrative personnel often have their hands full with pushing wheelchairs, carrying trays of medical supplies or transporting sensitive equipment around facilities. But SpeedFace's hands-free, facial and palm vein recognition reading capabilities ensure that unencumbered door access can be gained with ease. This is essential in situations such as medical emergencies, where there is no time to waste looking for keys or access cards.

So, how does the technology work? SpeedFace is a fast-matching and highly accurate facial recognition platform, designed for indoor and outdoor use. It can store and match up to 50,000 face templates and 5000 palm vein templates, and within a second of recognizing a faculty member or patient's face, doors are immediately unlocked. Further, it's a multi-layered biometric access control solution that combines recognition technologies - face and palm vein identification - with body temperature and/or mask detection. It also has relay contacts for controlling the door locks and Wiegand and OSDP output to interface with third party access control systems as well.

This additional capability reinforces traditional security measures while maintaining COVID-19 sanitized environments - something essential in a healthcare context. SpeedFace not only met the health system's tiered security criteria, it did so while improving ease of movement around facilities and managing deployment costs.

ZKTeco USA's SpeedFace readers have met Rochester Regional Health's goals and Securitronics reports that the health system has found the solution to be straightforward and logical and its successful expansion of the existing access control system. Through SpeedFace, Rochester Regional now has greater peace of mind, confident in the knowledge that only authorized staff can gain access to security-sensitive areas.

Terry Rivet, President and CEO, Securitronics, said, "The client has found the solution to be easy to use, budget friendly and the expansion of biometrics into their existing access control system to be a valuable investment that will warrant continued expansion of their technology."

Manish Dalal, President and Founder, ZKTECO USA said, "We have been working with Securitronics since last 7+ years and have always met the unique security challenges posed to us from time to time by their customers with our huge biometric hardware and software portfolio."

Phoenix LTC Selects SecuGen’s U20-A Fingerprint Sensor for Safer Dispensing of Medication

SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- SecuGen is pleased to announce that Phoenix LTC has selected SecuGen's U20-A fingerprint sensor to integrate secure biometric technology into StatSafe, an automated medication management system used in skilled nursing and long-term facilities.

Phoenix LTC designs the StatSafe line of medication cart solutions that organize, store, and secure medication for use in diverse markets, from skilled nursing to independent living. They needed a way to authenticate care providers who are authorized to access the locked carts. Phoenix LTC found the biometric security offered by SecuGen's fingerprint technology delivers highly accurate recognition that is difficult to falsify and impossible to forget. The addition of biometrics provides a means of quickly and reliably verifying user identity so that healthcare providers can administer medication to patients more efficiently and safely.

"We needed to add biometric security into our existing product line, and SecuGen fit the need perfectly," stated John Bergmann, owner of Phoenix LTC. "We selected the U20-A sensor primarily for its quality, accuracy and reasonable price. Working with SecuGen was a pleasure. We appreciate their customer focus and attention on providing support and software development kits that were critical in the integration of the fingerprint sensor into our product."

The U20-A is a flagship of SecuGen's USB fingerprint sensors specifically designed for OEMs and boasts desirable features such as high image quality, utility, ruggedness, and price performance. SecuGen offers a broad line of OEM sensors including stand-alone systems and fingerprint sensors suitable for almost any application. SecuGen OEM sensors have been integrated into a wide variety of products such as ATMs, gun safes, kiosks, manufacturing equipment, physical access control terminals, and time & attendance machines marketed throughout the world.

Jeff Brown, VP of Sales for SecuGen added, "We are thrilled to see our fingerprint technology working for Phoenix LTC. They have put a lot of thought into the design and functionality of their products and saw a clear need for the added security of biometrics. We are very pleased that they have chosen our U20-A sensor."

"It's exciting to meet new customers with creative ideas for implementing our biometric technology into their applications," stated Won Lee, President and CEO of SecuGen.
