Cirsova Publishing to Collect Nearly-Lost Pulp Works of Julian Hawthorne

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- Cirsova Publishing will be collecting and restoring the nearly-lost All-Story Weekly fiction of Julian Hawthorne, son of famed American author Nathaniel Hawthorne.

In Spring of 2021, Cirsova Publishing partnered with Michael Tierney and Robert Allen Lupton to restore and reprint "The Cosmic Courtship," a near-lost science fiction novel by Julian Hawthorne. Following the success of this project, Cirsova Publishing established a new Cirsova Classics imprint dedicated to restoring and reprinting other near-lost pulp fiction.

Given the interest in "The Cosmic Courtship," Cirsova has prioritized collecting the rest of Hawthorne's All-Story Weekly fiction in a standard format. In addition to "The Cosmic Courtship," Hawthorne had one novel and four novellas published in the Munsey magazine.

"The Strange Recollections of Martha Klemm" resurrects Hawthorne's pulp heroine, a witty and modern woman with a touch of clairvoyance and descent from Salem witches, in two volumes, collecting Absolute Evil, A Goth From Boston, and Sara Was Judith. A third volume will collect the stand-alone romances, Doris Dances and Fires Rekindled.

These collected editions of Julian Hawthorne's All-Story Weekly fiction will be released later in 2021.

Zootility Reimagines Beer Pong – A New Competitive Wall Game

PORTLAND, Maine -- Zootility, a design-driven U.S. manufacturing company, proudly announces the next great innovation in recreational games - a wall-hung beer pong game. Free Pong is quick to pick up and play and easily converts into minimal home decor when not being played.

The Free Pong design team recognized that traditional beer pong takes a lot of space to play, cups can get knocked over and spilled, and it's not a fit for most social gatherings. Free Pong is a vertical take on a classic drinking game that allows the game to be played quickly, cleanly, and in any home living space. It uses patent-pending Tension Grip Technology™ that locks brackets in place. The brackets or cups won't fall out even when struck by hard shots. The light design allows it to mount on any surface. When brackets are removed, Free Pong fits seamlessly into the living space as a piece of decorative wall art showcasing engraved mountain peak details.

Free Pong game play follows the same basic principles of beer pong. Alternating turns, the goal is to eliminate cups by landing shots in cups before your opponent. A two-board game of Free Pong can be played in teams, the first team to clear their board wins.

"Our company has always had an affinity for recreational games. During our Friday social hour, we started chatting about our own 'Zootility twist' on beer pong. We applied the idea to our laser cutting technology and Free Pong was born," says Nate Barr, Founder of Zootility.

Beach Lovers: a NYC Summer Love Story Fundraiser Goes Live

BROOKLYN, N.Y. -- Photographer Erica Reade announced today the kickoff of her fundraiser campaign "Beach Lover: a NYC Summer Love Story." The photographic series about love and intimacy will be turned into a book that will offer nostalgic and candid images of the love shared between couples at the beaches of New York City.

"I have spent years photographing beach-goers and the intimate gestures of couples; some tender, rubbing sunscreen on a partner's back; others lustful, a deep kiss in the water. Being on the beach emboldens couples to enjoy more affectionate freedom, their inhibitions less hidden than anywhere else I've observed in the city. I capture these tender moments that would otherwise be lost or overlooked," says the Brooklyn-based photographer.

New York is home to a one-of-a-kind beach culture that is diverse, time-limited, and low-profile. After six years of documenting this subject, Erica is ready to publish her first book and needs the community's support. The funds will help cover production costs and allow Beach Lovers to reach a broader audience.

About Erica Reade:

Erica is a Brooklyn-based freelance photographer originally from Montreal. She is drawn to the ocean and is fascinated by the juxtaposition of beach culture and landscape in the midst of NYC's urban chaos. Her Beach Lovers series has been featured in numerous publications, including: C-41, Ain't Bad, Feature Shoot, Medium, Lomography, La Repubblica Italy, Women in Street, and Flavorwire.

The Beach Lovers photo 'The Couple Next Door' was a winning image in the 2020 Women Street Photographers' Exhibition and was exhibited in December 2020 Artspace PS 109.

The series has also been exhibited at Ground Floor Gallery and Picture Farm Gallery in Brooklyn, and Studio Galerie B & B in Paris, France. Beach Lover's prints are held in permanent collection and display at The Rockaway Hotel in Queens, NYC.

Zootility Launches a Comfortable Face Mask

PORTLAND, Maine -- Zootility, a design-driven US manufacturing company, launches a mask to provide comfort and protection to both those who are wearing masks just for a quick trip to the grocery store as well as essential workers who are masked 8+ hours per day. After a few revisions to the original design, the new Comfort Mask with a double layer of fabric helps keep out pesky allergens, airborne contaminants and unwanted germs.

Each Comfort Mask is laser cut. The stitch-free design creates a soft covering for the face. It stretches to conform better to all face shapes and attaches behind the ears with two adjustable-length ear loops. The unique folded design gives ample breathing room and contours tightly to the nose to help minimize fogging with glasses.

In a recent Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) study, the researchers found that wearing one mask - a disposable or cloth mask - blocked around 40% of test particles. When a cloth mask was worn on top of a disposable mask, about 80% of particles were blocked. When worn as a second mask for "double masking," Comfort Mask fits snugly and eliminates gaps around the sides of the face or nose when worn over a disposable mask.

"As a USA Made Manufacturer, we continue finding ways to respond to the worldwide crisis. We are all tired of wearing uncomfortable face masks yet we understand it's necessary to stay safe and keep our communities safe. Imagine that feeling you get when you put on a cozy pair of sweatpants? We designed our Comfort Mask to give the same feeling of comfort and safety when wearing it," says Nate Barr, Founder of Zootility.

The company is currently raising funds to support the launch of the Comfort Mask on Kickstarter. The project is running an early bird reward option at a discount for the next three days.

Backers can expect their masks shipped in March: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/zootility-health/comfort-mask-a-unique-twist-on-soft-and-safe-face-masks?ref=agksy5&token=362f8132

Zootility manufactures functional everyday objects in eccentric forms using quality materials and laser cutters to slowly create one at a time. From product design to manufacturing, Zootility produces everything in-house at their 10,000 sq-ft shop in Portland, Maine.

New Rap Writer/Producer and Eminem Stan James Guiltinan Launches Kickstarter Campaign to Create Music Video Salute to Eminem

LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Will the real Stan please stand up? Before James "Slim Jimmy" Guiltinan knew that Eminem's "Stan" had become a dictionary word defined as a sort of super, but sometimes obsessed fan, he'd written one of his first two rap songs, as an Eminem "salute." The slang definition of "stan" likely originated from Eminem's song and music video "Stan."

At first, James referred to his song, "This Time and Then" as a "tribute song" to Eminem, but later learned that the term was reserved for the deceased. So he coined a new phrase "salute song." James now suggests that he could be the real Eminem "Stan," but not of the obsessed or crazed kind of stan, an example of which might be the recent intruder into Eminem's home. The Detroit rap artist's music helped to get James through a dark period in his life.

Having only played trumpet in high school during the seventies, and new to rap writing and producing, James had assistance from Los Angeles rapper Solid Savage who recorded and co-wrote "This Time and Then." James originally didn't want to charge for the song, as he felt it would cheapen the "salute." His distribution service required a minimum price for streaming distribution, but James has made "This Time and Then" available at no charge on SoundCloud. James' Kickstarter campaign serves to create a complementary product (the accompanying music video) to further the Eminem salute.

Ironically, Slim Shady's "Stan" song and music video features a Stan character who ends up accidentally or purposely killing himself in a car accident. While James admits to being suicidal during his struggles, and perhaps saved by in part at least, rather than troubled by an absence of writing back, Eminem's music.

"Eminem's music gave me encouragement, because it talks about struggles that Slim Shady experienced during his life, which I identified with," James says.

After losing his job two years ago and living out of his van, which was after losing his family's house and getting divorced, James took up songwriting to finally try his hand at the creative arts. At first, his lyrics were essentially poems. After ordering two songwriting books, James got a little better at the craft. He also remixed the background music he selected for "This Time and Then" after taking a class in Logic.

During his two years of being homeless, James has written and produced seven hip hop and one R&B tracks. Most of the work on his songs, including the cover artwork, writing, and background ("beat") music selection was done using a cell phone, after his MacBook was stolen.

"Wrigley Field," a sequel to "This Time and Then," is a playful rap song, where James comes to Slim's "rescue" by providing a warning to - in good fun only - similar to a diss track - Machine Gun Kelly, regarding MGK's Eminem diss (disrespect) song. James views "salute" songs as being the opposite of "diss" songs, and he hopes they become popularized.

"Similar to the Stan in the Eminem song and music video, I DM'd Slim on Instagram, but didn't hear back," James says. "However, he may have given me a lyrics wink in one of his songs as 'Gilligan.' Of course, I can't know for sure. It's just close to my last name, and I also used 'Gilligan' in my "Wrigley Field" lyrics."

"This Time and Then" and "Wrigley Field" are available on streaming platforms under the artist name "James Bernard Guiltinan."

New Better Topics Card Game Helps Couples and Families Strengthen Relationships

SHEFFIELD, U.K. -- A new card game is on the horizon that has the potential to strengthen and improve relationships. Better Topics, a replayable card game created by Diana and Robert Indries, is a catalyst to help people have more fun, more meaningful conversations and better communication.

Diana and Robert have created a Kickstarter campaign to help launch a hands-on game and app: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/dianaindries/better-topics-replayable-card-game-for-couples.

"We and a few of our friends play the game every week. It helps us set aside time for one another and makes us look forward to having the deep conversations we need to grow our relationship. I'm convinced it will help other couples and families too," Diana says.

The world is in turmoil right now and relationships are no exception. In 2019, the U.S. Census reported two million new marriages, yet there were 800,000 new divorces. That's 40 percent.

"And what about the other 60 percent?" Diana wonders. "What's the real quality of those relationships?"

To help find a solution, Diana and Robert set out to create a game that not only has the potential to help relationships grow stronger, but to incite more joy and excitement too.

"The only thing that can make relationships stronger is constant, caring attention," Diana says.

"Better Topics" is a springboard for meaningful discussions that come naturally. Some sample questions include: What was your favorite thing we did together last week? What's one thing we could do next week that would help to put a spark in our relationship? What is one trait about me you noticed recently, that you would want me to keep? There's also a points system for real-life rewards, clear rules, elements that make it fun, strategies to win, and weekly couple challenges.

"During our research, we found and played other card games, but they all asked questions that were limited in nature such as, 'What's your favorite flavor ice cream?'" Robert says. "Our game has ever-relevant questions and other fun elements so it can be played every single week. It's a game you can build on."

Startup Designs Nasal Respirator to Protect Airways While Freeing the Mouth

WINTERS, Calif. -- Modern Mammoth Technologies, LLC, is announcing the launch of a unique nasal respirator to provide more protection to more people-especially the frontline heroes. Modern Mammoth is a startup founded by two veterinarians, Dr's Valerie Fournier and Alejandro Garcia.

Hero Mammoth is an air filtration device that can use a wide array of filters, including N95 and high MERV. This device is versatile, extraordinarily comfortable and most of all, it is unique in the fact that keeps your mouth free to communicate.

Their team conceptualized and designed a nose-focused respirator after one of the founders was exposed to wildfire smoke at the Camp Fire in 2018 while working as a volunteer veterinary responder.

Hero Mammoth uses anatomically focused design to integrate a nasal dilator and detachable respirator. This focused design means less filter material is needed, resulting in a more ecofriendly and economical solution.

"Right now, face masks are being reinvented in many different ways. Hero isn't designed to replace a face mask - it's something which can be used with a mask for an extra level of protection, or on its own. It's a whole different product," says Dr. Fournier.

After the 2018 California wildfire season, the effect of breathing in smoke and other contaminants became evident. Lingering cough, fatigue, and headaches were all common complaints.

"It was serendipity really. Previously, we had been working on a nasal dilator to help us breathe better while hiking and last year, while testing, we discovered the unique weight-bearing properties of this device. Now, it became our core technology and base to produce the nasal respirator," said Dr. Garcia.

Since early 2019, work on Hero nasal respirator and Silent Mammoth, the nose dilator, has plugged along. Then at the end of the year, tragedy in the form of SARS-COV2 struck.

Dr. Fournier, who also holds a degree in public health said, "Part of the veterinarians' oath is to protect the public health, and we are scaling our efforts to bring this to production as soon as possible."

Dr. Garcia agrees. "I want people to be able to go to work and feel protected. I want it to be affordable. I don't want them to be constrained to having to buy expensive filters through us, and wait for it to get there. If they only have 1900 filters-they can use that! I want people to feel safe. We can't go forward like this, really. We can't wear masks all day, all the time," says Dr Garcia.

The respirator is specially designed to be taken apart, cleaned, and reused. This lessens environmental impact, leading to less discard in the landfills.

The cartridges can be loaded with any filter material, and it only takes minimal skill with a pair of scissors. Simply cut a small strip to fit and wrap the inner cartridge. The external clip protects the filter material so it lasts longer and you don't have to touch it.

The facial gasket is soft foam with an internal stainless-steel structure and additional foam sealing strip around the edge. The user can bend the gasket and apply the sealing strip as best suits them, which leads to a better fit. Most users can tell if they have a gap and adjust the gasket to compensate.

This nose respirator also includes the option of a copper mesh insert to protect the filter material. Copper has been shown through extensive research to have broad antimicrobial qualities.

Thus far the project has been self-financed. To begin mass production they decided to reach out for help. Due to the current COVID-19 situation, many traditional avenues such as face to face networking aren't possible.

In these times, adaptability is key, which is why a Kickstarter campaign was decided on to get front line funding.

Modern Mammoth will be launching their product for presales on crowdfunding platform Kickstarter on May 19, 2020.

New Children’s Book Opens Door for Dialogue About Grief and Death

ATLANTA, Ga. -- When Bryson Thompson, Sr.'s mother passed away from stomach cancer in 2016, he grappled with how to tell his 3-year old son that he would never see his beloved grandmother again. It was this life-changing event that sparked him to write, "How Angels are Made" (ISBN: 978-1735023809).

Thompson wrote the first version only two days after returning from his mother's funeral when it became apparent that his son needed more answers than he was readily able to give. His son was confused and grieving and needed help to work through this trying time which turned the world he knew upside down.

Bryson focused his energy to create a book that would help him and his family to clearly communicate with their son about grief and death. He quickly realized that if this book could help his family to heal, it could help others too. He also saw a need for a book that focused on an African-American family.

"There are very few books on the subject where African Americans are at the center," he says.

Based on a true story about the bond between Bryson's son and mother, "How Angels are Made" is a transformational children's book that fosters needed conversations between youth and adults about grief and death. It highlights actual conversations that took place between he, his wife and their son.

In the beginning, the book highlights their personal relationship and then moves into the family's experience of dealing with loss.

Bryson exceeded his Kickstarter campaign goal with one week left, which ironically happened the day before his mother's birthday, and plans to end the campaign, which is now in its "stretch goal" and appropriately scheduled to end on Mother's Day. The additional funds will allow Bryson to provide even more free copies of the book to local schools, libraries and children who have lost a loved one or friend, than originally anticipated.

"With one in five youth currently having to deal with the death of someone close to them by the time they are 19, 'How Angels are Made' will resonate with many families around the world," Bryson says. "It's also ideal for schools, therapists, church groups and more. My hope is that this book will be a tool to help change lives."

About the Author

Bryson Thompson has more than 10 years' experience as a special education teacher and mental health professional. He's a husband, father, educator, mentor and entrepreneur. He has dedicated his life to finding ways to uplift young men and women. With a degree in Special Education from Clemson University and a Masters in Behavior/Learning Disabilities from Georgia State University, he continually works to find ways to enhance the life and experience of the future generation.

The book will be available to the public in June and pre-orders can be made here: https://howangelsaremade.com/
