The award celebrates music's finest songwriters and composers and pays homage to women "whose body of work represents the best of heritage and legacy of modern American music."

"To be mentioned in the same breath with Roberta Flack, Valerie Simpson and Mary Chapin Carpenter and the other honorees is beyond anything I could imagine and I can't think of a better way to pay it forward than to provide children with the kind inspiration that I've been blessed to experience through music and the arts," says Hull.

Hull's music and passion is driven by her dedication to enriching the lives of young children. She has written, performed and produced multi-media products for children that have garnered five Parent's Choice Awards, two National Parenting Publications Awards, a Dr. Toy Award, Children's Web Award, a Parents Guide to Children's Media Award, a commendation from the City of Los Angeles, an Emmy(R) nomination for writing, producing and directing "The Ripple Effect", a documentary about the work of Dream A World Education, and an Academics Choice Award for Secrets of the Heart(tm) TV, a children's educational series.

Hull is currently directing Secrets of the Heart II, Dream A World Education's new sequential learning program for children aged 4-8, designed to bring arts and social emotional learning to children around the world. The new series Series II will highlight Family and Community through a social justice and inclusivity lens by featuring overarching episode themes like Roots, Diversity and Identity.

For the program, Hull brought together a diverse team of Los Angeles artists including acclaimed visual artists Raul Baltazar and Yrneh Gabon, who will teach assemblage art and highlight the work of Betye Saar. She has also brought on folk artist Sunny War and choreographer Kara Mack ("Coming 2 America"), who will teach West African Dance. Episodes of the program will feature the work of artists including Ella Fitzgerald and Mahalia Jackson, and will address determination, trauma and healing through music sung during the Civil Rights era.

Dream a World Education focuses its attention on helping underserved communities, creating engaging programming to support young children and providing an avenue to empower them via self-expression through the arts. Since the pandemic began, Dream a World expanded its virtual classroom programs across the United States, growing from 10 local schools to 40 schools across the country and abroad, reaching as far as South Africa and Hong Kong.

Bunny Hull was born in New Orleans, Louisiana and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada. Hull has earned more than 20 gold and platinum albums with songs and/or as a vocalist appearing on albums with Angela Bofill ("Angel of the Night") Michael Jackson ("Thriller") (where she was a PYT), "Let Me Be Your Angel" (Narada Michael Walden/Stacy Lattisaw), Quincy Jones, The Jacksons, B.B. Her television soundtrack credits include NBC's TODAY SHOW, OPRAH, SESAME STREET, ANY DAY NOW, CHARMED and THE SIMPSONS, to name a few.

In 1999, Hull's best friend, singer Thelma Houston, gave her a book entitled "I Dream A World, Portraits of American Black Women." Around the same time, Hull accepted an invitation to teach music and the arts to young children at an L.A. inner city school. The events that followed led to her founding a nonprofit arts organization, Dream A World Education, where she is now Executive Director. Dream A World delivers arts-based, social-emotional learning with an emphasis on culture and diversity to children aged around the world.

Since 2008 Dream A World Education, Inc. has delivered arts-based, social-emotional learning to over 40,000 families and children in early elementary grade levels, in underserved public schools across Los Angeles. Scientology Volunteer Ministers Honored for Their Help at the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe

LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Mexico Scientologists and their families were honored for their service to Catholic church officials and parishioners with a special Mass at the Iglesia Santa Maria de Guadalupe Capuchinas, part of the complex of the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico City.

According to the Church of Scientology International, as Mexico began to open up, these volunteers took on the task of sanitizing and decontaminating places of worship so those wishing to practice their faith could do so in safety.

Most years, some 20 million pilgrims visit the Basilica, most of them in December to celebrate the feast day of Our Lady of Guadalupe, the patron saint of Mexico. The Basilica is one of the most visited Catholic pilgrimage sites in the world. But in December 2020, with Mexico's mounting cases of COVID-19 and one of the highest rates of coronavirus casualties internationally, the church took the unprecedented step of shutting the doors of the Basilica to prevent the spread of the virus.

To Mexico's Scientology Volunteer Ministers, veterans of disaster response missions at home and abroad, the pandemic was a completely different kind of catastrophe to those they were used to dealing with-one requiring prevention. Nonetheless, because of the insight of Church leadership, they were well prepared to help.

Even before the pandemic was declared, thanks to the foresight of ecclesiastical leader Mr. David Miscavige, and in keeping with the maxim of Scientology Founder L. Ron Hubbard that "an ounce of prevention is worth a ton of cure," the Church researched the most effective prevention methods and distilled them into a series of illustrated booklets and public service announcements presented in simple, direct language anyone can understand. These were made available in 21 languages on the Stay Well Prevention Resource Center. The Church also researched the best methods of sanitization and made these available to Scientology Churches, Missions and Scientology Volunteer Ministers around the world.

Catholic and evangelical religious leaders who have worked on interfaith programs with The Freewinds, the Scientology religious retreat in the Caribbean, reached out to the ship for help to make their churches safe. The Freewinds arranged for trained Scientology Volunteer Ministers in Mexico City to respond to their needs. The Volunteer Ministers took on sanitizing the Basilica and other Mexican churches to ensure that parishioners could worship in safety.

At the special Mass, a representative of the cardinal attended in appreciation of the Church of Scientology and the work of the Volunteer Ministers in sanitizing the Basilica and churches throughout the city and the State of Mexico. The Scientology Volunteer Ministers trained church representatives in how to sanitize the chapel, and after the Mass, they presented the priest with a full kit containing all the equipment and materials needed to continue the sanitizing of the church.

An interactive timeline on the Scientology website, 20/21: A Look Behind & A Look Ahead, presents an overview of the work of Scientology Churches, staff and parishioners who helped their communities and entire countries deal with the pandemic.

The Church of Scientology Volunteer Ministers program is a religious social service created in the mid-1970s by Scientology Founder L. Ron Hubbard.

A Volunteer Minister's mandate is to be "a person who helps his fellow man on a volunteer basis by restoring purpose, truth and spiritual values to the lives of others." Their creed: "A Volunteer Minister does not shut his eyes to the pain, evil and injustice of existence. Rather, he is trained to handle these things and help others achieve relief from them and new personal strength as well."

The Founder of the Scientology religion is L. Ron Hubbard and Mr. David Miscavige is the religion's ecclesiastical leader.

Synergy for Ecological Solutions Makes Grant for Soil Health and Climate Wellness

LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- The nonprofit Synergy for Ecological Solutions made their first grant to Carbon Asset Network's landowner member, Hellyer Ranch. This grant will enable the ranch to execute a customized plan for greater soil health developed by both Hellyer and Carbon Asset Network's certified professional agronomist, Neal Fehringer.

The increase in soil health is a result in improving plant production, which causes an increase in photosynthesis. More photosynthesis removes additional carbon dioxide from the air and, in turn release more oxygen into the air and secures more carbon into the soil by increased root growth from more vegetative growth. This is the basis for 'carbon sinks' and 'carbon sequestration,' which is Nature's method of cleaning our air.

"Sometimes it's not understood that there's a natural connection between improving our soil and reducing carbon in our air," says John Robitaille, Director of Carbon Asset Network (CAN). "CAN works with the manager of the land to develop a customized science-based solution to increase soil health and meet their land goals. This is the new way forward."

The manager of the land, called Land Stewards, enlists in the You360 program, which provides funding to develop the soil for one year. The Land Stewards can be ranchers, farmers, or managers of any open land, such as parks or golf courses. This is not connected to any government program and the funding comes from donations to the nonprofit, Synergy for Ecological Solutions.

The nonprofit has developed a unique way to fundraise for climate wellness, using donated funds to clean our air, which empowers individuals and businesses to be advocates for the environment.

"There are many people who wake up each day, concerned about our climate. And, businesses are looking for ways to meet ESG goals. Yet, until now, the only solutions offered were to eat vegan, recycle, and perhaps protest fossil fuels. SYNERGY gives the opportunity to donate in order to improve soil health," says Jeff Holder, Director of Synergy for Ecological Solutions. "We encourage a change of mindset. Rather than wishing for a carbon neutral future in the next few years or decades, let's make a change right now, today. Finally, everyone can do something that has a direct impact on our climate."

In the You360 program, donors can donate towards one acre of land for $30 a month/$360 a year. It's a one-year commitment and the funds pay for agronomy/soil testing and development, with the lion's share going directly to the Land Steward.

The funds are often used for additional equipment such as a no-till drill or for fencing and labor to help with mob grazing, a practice that has proven to sequester more carbon.

"We celebrate this new way to help ranchers improve their soil," says Jim Magagna, Executive Vice-President of the Wyoming Stock Growers Association. "With funds from CAN, the rancher is able to adjust their operation with the result of healthier soil and healthier land."

"At Hellyer Ranch, we have taken some steps towards soil health, but with this grant, we can accomplish major goals," says Jim Hellyer. "You'll never find a better steward for our environment than someone who manages land."

Scientology Volunteer Ministers: Help to an Island in Need

LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- For 16 days, a team of Scientology Volunteer Ministers from Florida, arranged by the Freewinds, the Church of Scientology religious retreat, came to the aid of the people of St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

The Scientology Volunteer Ministers St. Vincent Disaster Response, now completed, brought relief to thousands of residents in need of help, announces the Church of Scientology International.

When La Soufrière Volcano erupted, engulfing the island with pyroclastic flows, volcanic ash and rock, it created a humanitarian crisis. Upwards of 16,000 residents who evacuated and thousands more who remained in the red and orange zones were without fresh water, power, and food.

"It's like a desert, it's desolate, it's apocalyptic," said Ralph Gonsalves, prime minister of St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Unable to cope with the humanitarian effort needed without substantial assistance, he reached out for help, saying, "We are really at the midnight hour of need."

The Freewinds, the Church of Scientology religious retreat and humanitarian ship in the Caribbean, immediately responded to the call for help. The ship sent a 40-foot container to Kingstown, the capital, chief port, and main commercial center of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. And to help ensure these and other urgently needed supplies reached those in need, the Freewinds arranged a team of volunteers.

Smoke continued to billow from the summit of La Soufrière as the team of Florida-based Scientology Volunteer Ministers landed in St. Vincent. Everything was grey: The sky, the streets, the hillsides. Ash overwhelmed the islands.

On arriving, these Scientologists, veterans of numerous disaster response missions, immediately coordinated their activities with other nonprofits.

"Working with the Red Cross, we brought support to the leeward side of the island-the first relief they received since the eruptions," said the leader of the La Soufrière Scientology Volunteer Ministers Response Team. That day, they handed out six pallets of water in gallon jugs, 36 tool kits that included shovels, hammers and crowbars, 300 hygiene kits, blankets, and some 600 masks.

Coordinating with the National Emergency Management Organisation (NEMO), the Scientology Volunteer Ministers found that although supplies were pouring in to the island, they had to be organized for distribution. The Scientologists worked in the warehouse, making it possible for four tons of supplies to reach those who needed them.

The Scientologists were surprised to find that despite the warm weather of the island, one of the most needed items was blankets. "Their mattresses were so covered with ash that clean blankets were the only way to have something to sleep on," said the lead Volunteer Minister.

To reach the north of the island, the Scientology team rented a motorboat. In the towns of Owia and Fancy, the Volunteer Ministers distributed water and supplies to the residents who had stayed. The towns were not only blanketed in ash, they had also been battered by rocks of all sizes from pebbles to boulders that collapsed roofs and tore up the roads.

In Georgetown, residents told the Scientology Volunteer Ministers that in the month since the volcano erupted, theirs was the first aid to reach them.

In all, the volunteers distributed more than 22 tons of supplies including enough food for 7,000 meals. And they let the Vincentians know that they had not been forgotten.

"They have a special hand signal here," said the lead Scientology Volunteer Minister. "It's a closed fist with the thumb out to the side. It means 'respect.' Pretty much everywhere we drove, people were making this sign for us, shouting 'thank you for what you are doing, thank you for being here.'" The Scientology Volunteer Ministers want to share that thanks to those who made it all possible by donating goods and funds to help the island recover.

Los Angeles Filmmaker Creates New Movie Genre: A Martial Arts Musical Comedy

LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- To his knowledge, it hasn't been done before, but that doesn't scare Zak Lee Guarnaccia, actor/stuntman, and executive producer at LightRow Pictures, a subsidiary of Light Row Ranch, LLC ( In fact, it excites him. Audiences are hungry for something new and he's ready to deliver with "The Next Big Hit," a martial arts musical comedy, set to come out fighting in 2022.

With its dark, comedy-crime underworld storyline, this offbeat buddy flick pairs up a fabulously gay movie producer on the run from a loan shark with his very straight cousin, a martial-arts stuntman. An outlandish plot about making a martial arts musical ensues.

"The Next Big Hit," directed by Renata Green Gaber; created and written by Zak Lee Guarnaccia; and screenplay by Pat Battistini and Cerina Vincent ("Stuck in the Middle" Disney Channel), is slated to co-star with Guarnaccia and comedic talent, Perry Anzilotti. Currently in its pre-production phase, Guarnaccia is confident that "The Next Big Hit" will be worthy of Screen Actors Guild and Academy Awards consideration.

To generate a buzz and movie support, Guarnaccia will repeat a fitness challenge he completed in 2012 where he climbed 189 steps at the "Santa Monica Stairs" in California for a non-stop 24 hours. This time he's inviting others to join him in the "Extreme Fitness Challenge, which will also benefit "The Heart of Los Angeles" (HOLA), a non-profit organization that gives underserved young musicians a chance to spotlight their work in "The Next Big Hit."

Bridge Publications, Publisher of the Works of Scientology Founder L. Ron Hubbard, Wins Manufacturing Leadership Award

LOS ANGELES, Calif. — The Manufacturing Leadership Council of the National Association of Manufacturers presented Bridge Publications Inc., publisher of the nonfiction works of author and Scientology Founder L. Ron Hubbard, with their coveted ML100 Award at a Virtual Awards Gala to honor manufacturing excellence, announced the Church of Scientology International today.

Mr. Hubbard’s books and lectures of Dianetics and Scientology stand as the largest body of information ever assembled on the mind, spirit and life. And in a year where COVID-19 cut people off from friends, family and life as they knew it, Bridge Publications made it possible for Scientologists and thousands new to the religion to continue or embark on a journey of spiritual growth despite restrictions.

Manufacturing Leadership Council’s decision to present its awards gala remotely this year underscores the unique challenges the general public and manufacturers in particular faced from the COVID-19 pandemic. To recognize companies that submitted projects directly tied to pandemic recovery and response, the Council originated the “Creators Respond Honor Roll.” So, for 2021, not only did Bridge Publications Inc. win its 12th Manufacturing Leadership ML100 Award, the organization was also featured on the honor roll for its project: “Bridge Manufacturing-International Response.”

“With the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, most countries published restrictions that closed churches of all denominations,” says Camila Gonzales, Bridge Publications Director of Public Relations. “Fortunately, Bridge Publications and all Scientology Churches have an Extension Course program. We were an integral part of making it possible for thousands of Scientologists to progress through their studies despite stay-at-home orders. And many thousands more who were interested or curious and new to Scientology had the opportunity to learn and benefit from Mr. Hubbard’s wisdom in the comfort of their homes.”

The primary goal of the project Bridge submitted to the Manufacturing Leadership Council was to provide Extension Course study materials. Despite the pandemic, this made it possible for Scientologists to continue their spiritual progress through the study of Dianetics and Scientology books and lectures. It also enabled those interested in finding out about Scientology to do so despite government restrictions and regulations closing houses of worship, including Scientology Churches and Missions in many countries, for the better part of the year.

“As soon as the pandemic struck, our Churches reached out to Scientologists and encouraged them to take advantage of their time at home by studying Extension Courses,” says Gonzalez.

Bridge Publications contacted suppliers to arrange raw materials as orders for Extension Course packs began flooding in. Where Bridge would normally produce an average of 1,500 Extension Course Packs per month, this rapidly increased to 7,000 per month, with individuals from 69 countries requesting Extension Course packs in 17 languages.

Through their in-house digital printing and full binding facility, they shipped study materials to the homes of those ordering directly from Bridge and those placing orders through local Scientology Churches, Missions and groups. Bridge has a longstanding policy of shipping within 24 hours of any order, and despite the spike in demand, they managed to continue to fill Extension Course orders on time.

Those studying these courses report that progressing on Extension Courses helped them make it through the pandemic. They found themselves able to cope and thrive when everything else seemed to be shutting down.

“When I make my Extension Course a part of my daily and weekly life, everything starts to require a lot less effort,” wrote one Extension Course student. “It is like oxygen for me as a spiritual being,” wrote another. “I’m finding answers to questions I’ve had my whole life,” was another person’s feedback on the value of the Extension Course.

The second goal of “Bridge Manufacturing – International Response” was to help those living and working in their community, City of Commerce, California.

In response to the pandemic, the Church of Scientology compiled and produced educational booklets to help people understand the best practices for preventing the spread of COVID-19. The Church of Scientology International Dissemination and Distribution Center, also located in Commerce, produced more than 7.5 million copies of these booklets.

“This is our home,” says Gonzalez, “and it was very important to our staff to be able to help local residents and those working nearby make it through the pandemic safe and well.”

Throughout May and June 2020, Bridge staff went door-to-door in the neighborhood providing booklets to residents. They also placed boxes of booklets on the counters of 281 essential businesses, and police and fire departments, where customers or visitors were invited to take copies for themselves and their friends and families.

“All our staff members are very proud of winning this ML100 award and especially for our being included in the Manufacturing Leadership Creators Respond Honor Roll,” says Gonzalez.

Manufacturing Leadership Council is a division of the National Association of Manufacturers, which developed the Manufacturing Leadership Awards to honor manufacturing companies and leaders that are shaping the future of global manufacturing. Award winners are selected by a panel of expert judges.

Prior to the release of the Dianetics and Scientology Basics Books and Lectures in early 2007, under the direction of Scientology ecclesiastical leader Mr. David Miscavige, Bridge Publications was established in the world’s largest exclusively digital print house-a 276,000-square-foot facility stretching a full city block. All facilities, from administrative offices to manufacturing and distribution, are located under the same roof. The operation is dedicated to making L. Ron Hubbard’s works accessible everywhere.

For more information on Bridge Publications visit their website at or watch Inside Scientology: Bridge Publications on the Scientology Network, available on DIRECTV Channel 320,, on mobile apps and via the Roku, Amazon Fire and Apple TV platforms.

Jumbo CO2 Monitor for Indoor Air Quality Tracking

LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Carbon Monoxide monitoring for indoor safety has never been more important, as schools, restaurants and work places are beginning re-opening efforts. Over the past 15 months, Forensics Detectors has been dedicated in offering carbon dioxide monitoring products for COVID-19 preparedness planning. These detectors are specifically designed for indoor spaces such as classrooms, gyms and offices.

They have adjustable alarm settings to allow users to be compliant with the California Assembly Bill AB 841 CO2 monitoring requirements which mandates CO2 indoor air quality monitoring to reduce COVID-19 transmission and infection risk.

For many years, carbon dioxide measurements have been used to better understand the airflow and mixing in indoor structures that helps guide the design of cooling, heating, and ventilation systems. High CO2 levels indoors is tied to poor health and lack of fresh air entering an indoor space. Numerous studies have shown links between high CO2 levels and high concentration of airborne bacteria and viruses. Variables such as air exchange rates and exposure times are correlated to and probability of respiratory infections. Hence CO2 monitoring acts as valid proxy. People exhale CO2 when they breathe. The CO2 gas accumulates, especially when an indoor space is not well ventilated, allowing CO2 levels to increase far above the baseline outdoor levels.

Some have gone one step further, mandating indoor CO2 monitoring. For example, the California Assembly Bill AB 841 requires classrooms to monitor CO2 and provide an alert when the carbon dioxide levels in the classroom have surpassed 1100 ppm. To help, Forensics Detectors was one of the first companies to pivot and offer consumers a variety of CO2 monitor that fit the bill. Today, Forensics Detectors is launching its JUMBO version, that allows indoor occupants to see the CO2 levels from a distance, helping the visually impaired and providing greater viewability, particularly in large public indoor spaces to help with customer confidence and to assure good public safety.

"Carbon Dioxide monitoring means extra safety, something we have taken for granted over the many years, and only now with COVID-19 are we aware of the importance of monitoring CO2 to help prevent airborne pathogen transmission," Dr. Koz, founder and chief engineer, Forensics Detectors, says. "CO2 is exhaled with aerosols containing pathogens such as SARS-CoV-2 from COVID-19 infected people and can be used as a proxy of virus concentrations in the indoor air as recently discovered by leading researchers."

The new JUMBO carbon dioxide monitor uses a generic USB cable for power and battery recharge. This version is great for large spaces or rooms such as classrooms, buses, churches, indoor public spaces such as libraries and public administration offices.

Inaugural Run Across America For Trauma Awareness (#RAAFTA) Event

LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Media Alert: June 19 - 27 2021 -- Compassion Prison Project (CPP) is very pleased to announce their Inaugural Run Across America For Trauma Awareness (#RAAFTA) fundraising event in partnership with Be The Good. The objective is to run a cumulative 3,000 miles, so only by joining together can we reach our goal. Participants of all ages and abilities are welcome to run, walk, stroll or roll in the great outdoors to support this wonderful cause.

CPP's mission is to transform our nation's prisons, currently places of repetitive traumatization and isolation, into centers for healing and education. Based on the Norwegian correctional model, CPP's focus is on Adverse Childhood Experience (ACE) awareness and trauma-responsive training.

Long after the fresh air endorphin glow wears off, participants can feel great about their efforts to support the most traumatized people in our society. All proceeds from the $10 registration fee and from monies raised by sponsoring friends and family goes directly toward supporting CPP's mission.

Best known for its widely acclaimed short film "Step Inside the Circle," CPP's goal for 2021 is to establish ten pilot prison programs across the U.S. These programs will highlight the proven healing modalities and professionally designed trauma curriculum CPP has developed for use by both prison residents as well as staff.

CPP's advocacy work includes the newly launched Compassion in Action podcast which welcomes acclaimed experts in the field of trauma research including Dr. Gabor Mate', CDC ACE study Co-Founder Dr. Vincent Felitti and coming soon Dr. Bruce Perry and Dr. Bessel Van der Kolk.
