Specialized AECO industry consultants will be certified on Newforma software implementation, best practices, and work processes to improve building project interoperability and maximize cost savings

MANCHESTER, NH – May 3 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — In its ongoing customer-centric process, Newforma, Inc., a newly established software development company serving the architectural, engineering, construction, and owner/operator (AECO) industry, announced today the Newforma Interoperability Consultant(SM) (NIC) Program. The NIC Program certifies industry consultants to provide Newforma software deployment, training and consulting services, ensuring smooth, high-quality technical implementation and faster time-to-benefits for Newforma customers. It is a vital step in fulfilling Newforma’s mission to facilitate the seamless flow of information between every AECO role across both project and business processes.

“Prior to releasing our first products, Newforma is taking the unique approach of proactively building a network of leading specialized industry consultants certified to implement and support our software on live projects at customer sites,” said Ian Howell, Newforma’s CEO. “Our software applications are being designed with direct customer input to address many of the key pain points experienced every day, on every project, by every member of the building project team. By identifying, training, and certifying specialized AECO consultants, and establishing them as our professional services partners, we can ensure that our customers get trusted expert advice and quality implementation services to maximize the value of their investment in Newforma products.”

NIC Program Launch

The first NIC Program “Boot Camp” is being held May 3-5, 2005 at Newforma’s corporate headquarters in Manchester, NH. Consultants from eight local and national consulting practices will participate as inaugural members of the NIC Program. Participating organizations have had to satisfy a defined set of industry and technology-related prerequisite selection criteria, and individual consultants must successfully complete a rigorous three-step certification process.

“In addition to product certification, Newforma is providing participants in the NIC Program with a unique forum for all NIC’s to share our best practices and exchange work process knowledge as we pursue new ways to provide our customers with implementation strategies for improving interoperability and achieving significantly greater efficiency in their businesses,” said Chris Keller of Integrated Data Solutions, an inaugural NIC Program member.

Newforma Interoperability Consultant Services

Newforma is committed to providing customers with applications and consulting services to address their needs for interoperable work processes.

“Newforma recognizes that their exciting new products are just one of the essential elements required to address improved interoperability for AECO customers,” said Kristine Fallon, President of Kristine Fallon Associates, Inc., another inaugural NIC Program member. “The company is committed to recruiting and certifying qualified interoperability consultants that can provide best-in-class services to audit existing work practices, advise on how best to implement technology, structure project information for re-use with downstream applications, and optimize information sharing across the extended project team.”

Industry Focus on the Cost of Inadequate Interoperability

An industry whitepaper entitled “The Missing Person on your Building Project Team – Where is the Interoperability Consultant?” is available for download at www.newforma.com. This whitepaper describes the services that a certified interoperability consultant can provide to address the excessive costs of mainstream project delivery processes. It also describes two real-world examples where significant direct cost savings have been achieved by engaging an interoperability consultant. In addition to quantifying in tangible terms the conclusions of the August, 2004 National Institute of Standards (NIST) report entitled “Cost Analysis of Inadequate Interoperability in the U.S. Capital Facilities Industry,” this whitepaper provides a constructive alternative to business-as-usual for the AECO industry by defining the role and benefits of an interoperability consultant as an integral member of the AECO project team.

“Newforma’s software applications enable us to deliver incremental value-added consulting services that focus on making the project-related work processes more efficient, so we can deliver improved interoperability and resulting savings for our mutual customers,” said Pete Kelsey, CEO of K-TEK Solutions, also an inaugural NIC Program member.
