BETHESDA, MD (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — SK&I Architectural Design Group (SK&I – www.skiarch.com), a residential and mixed-use architectural design firm, announced 2005 as a record year for industry awards, project completions and new project announcements.

According to President, Sami Kirkdil, AIA “These results, especially the award recognition, reflect the high standards we set, and our commitment to understanding our clients’ design needs. We look forward to even more growth this year.”

Recent acknowledgement of SK&I’s innovative residential designs include:

The 2005 Merit Award by the Washington D.C. Chapter of the AIA for the firm’s design work on The Lofts 590. Additionally, The Metro was one of two properties featured in AIA’s Washington DC event “Modern Architecture and the Loft Dwelling”.

SK&I received the Award for Excellence from Delta Associates for The Lofts 590 as the Most Innovative Mid-Atlantic Apartment Community. Delta Associates also recognized SK&I for Excellence with The Montgomery at Wheaton Metro.

SK&I was the recipient of several 2005 Finest for Family Living “Monument” Awards which recognize superior residential design and community planning.

Groundbreakings in 2005 included Union Row–Flats and Warehouses; Jenkins Row; and The Habitat for Humanity Silverwood Project. SK&I’s 2005 project milestones also included several topping-out ceremonies: Capitol Hill Tower; Park Potomac Building 1; The Halstead at Dunn Loring; The Fedora; The Village at Shirlington; Chase Point Condominiums; and Carlyle Block L.

According to Meral Iskir, AIA, Executive Vice President and co-founder of SK&I, “The scale and the scope of new projects awarded to us last year were significant, and we are grateful to our clients for their continued acknowledgement of our design work”.

Projects awarded to the firm in 2005 included Lot 31; The Adele; View 14; and Studio Plaza.
