FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Aug. 12 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — The Southern Bleacher Company, based in Graham, TX, recently completed upgrades and state-of-the-art renovations to the outdoor track stadium for the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, AR. The stadium, named the John McDonnell Outdoor Track Stadium, has a seating capacity of 6,325 and a total project cost of $6 million.

“John McDonnell has coached the Arkansas men’s track and cross country teams to 42 national championships,” Garrett Pettus, Marketing, Southern Bleacher said.

The inaugural event at the new stadium was for the Southeastern Conference Outdoor Championships, held May 11-14.

“Ironically,” Pettus said, “the job was executed and planned by University of Arkansas civil engineer alumnus, David Norman, sales representative for Southern Bleacher. He was excited to be working with his alma mater to plan this fine-track facility.”

The new stadium boasts upgrades to the track surface to meet USA Track and Field regulations. Renovations also included widening the nine running lanes from 44 inches to 48 inches. New lights, a video scoreboard, restrooms and concession stands were also added.
