A R T I C L E:

People need a variety of challenging exercises to stimulate the whole brain. PuzzleMaster.ca offers an extensive line of puzzles, brain teasers, jigsaw puzzles, board games and more, for people who want to jog their brains outside of the usual video game.

In fact, in 2006, recommendations made by a panel of experts reviewing a poll by the American Society on Aging stated that, “A single activity, no matter how challenging, is not sufficient to sustain the kind of mental acuity that virtually everyone can achieve.”

In addition to improving memory function, other brain functions need stimulation as well.

“For instance, attention and concentration are also essential to good memorization and the puzzles offered at PuzzleMaster.ca contribute to sharpening these skills,” explains Allan Stein, president Puzzle Master.

As a result, retro puzzles such as the 80’s classic, the Rubik’s Cube, are making a comeback. And, in the last few decades, exciting twistable puzzles have been designed and reintroduced, building on the success of the Rubik’s Cube (i.e., the speed cube).

“Speedcubing is a craze that has developed out of these rotational puzzles,” adds Stein. “Speedcubing is like the Olympics of the puzzle world where people try to solve the puzzle in the fastest time possible.”

To date, the fastest time for solving the 3x3x3 cube is 7.08 seconds; solved one-handed, 11.97 seconds; solved blindfolded, 30.9 seconds; and solved with feet, 36.72 seconds.

Other popular puzzles include: twisty puzzles and Hanayama puzzles – Hanayama produces some of the most popular metal puzzles in the world.

In addition to enhancing brain fitness, these puzzles are also fun.

One puzzle user wrote in to let staff at PuzzleMaster.ca know how happy these puzzles make people. “Thanks for all the laughs,” she says. “The neighborhood kids and I have so much fun with your puzzles. I’m like the Pied Piper, only with kids.”

About Puzzle Master:

PuzzleMaster.ca has been in business for more than 20 years. They serve a global niche market in the puzzle industry. The majority of its puzzles retail in the U.S., with approximately 30-40 percent in Europe and Asia, and 10 percent in Canada.

They offer one of the largest selections of Rubik’s puzzles and provide an extraordinarily competitive number of selections – all on one Web site – so people do not have to search on multiple sites for different puzzles and games.

Almost all puzzles require people to request a solution and most have downloadable solutions at: http://www.puzzlemaster.ca/solutions.php .
