NEW YORK, N.Y. -- The Concordia Leadership Council announces the three recipients of the 2022 Leadership Award: Iván Duque Márquez, President of the Republic of Colombia, for the public sector; Ginni Rometty, Co-Chair of the Executive Board at OneTen and former Chairman, President & CEO of IBM, for the private sector; and, Sister Norma Pimentel, Executive Director of the Catholic Charities of the Rio Grande Valley, for the nonprofit sector.

President Duque will formally receive the award at the upcoming 2022 Concordia Americas Summit, taking place July 13-14 in Miami, FL and online (register here), while Ginni Rometty and Sister Norma Pimentel will be formally recognized at the 2022 Concordia Annual Summit, taking place September 19-21 at the Sheraton New York Times Square Hotel (register here).

Register online:

The Concordia Leadership Award recognizes global leaders within the public, private, and nonprofit sectors who have made pioneering contributions and inspired others through their ability to turn vision into impact. Voted on by the Concordia Leadership Award Committee, recipients possess a commitment to catalyzing positive social and economic change while promoting effective public-private collaboration to create a more sustainable future. Past recipients include: Laura Bush, Former First Lady of the U.S.; Niels B. Christiansen, CEO of the LEGO Group; Mónica Ramírez, Founder & President of Justice for Migrant Women; Doug McMillon, CEO of Walmart; Christiana Figueres, Founder of Global Optimism; António Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations; Secretary Hillary R. Clinton, Former Security of State for the U.S.; and, Nobel Peace Laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus.

Concordia's Leadership Award Committee is chaired by Anita McBride, Concordia Leadership Council Member and Former Assistant to President George W. Bush & Chief of Staff to First Lady Laura Bush, who commented: "The Leadership Award Committee has once again undertaken a rigorous nomination and selection process, and I'm honored to announce the three recipients for 2022. From placing environmental sustainability high on the Latin American agenda to reducing poverty across the U.S. and transforming the role of business in advancing diversity & inclusion, we all have so much to learn from these three distinguished individuals."

For the public sector, Concordia recognizes President Duque for his exceptional leadership and immeasurable contributions through his service over the past four years. Exemplified by his administration's support of Venezuelan refugees, President Duque's compassion and amity have set a new international standard for humanitarian aid and his efforts to depolarize politics in Colombia and move away from partisanship display his commitments to balanced government and collaboration.

President Duque has also placed environmental sustainability at the forefront of Colombia's agenda, establishing an ambitious strategy for achieving carbon neutrality by 2050 and, specifically, mobilizing climate finance at scale to accelerate the country's transition to a green future. Crucially, in 2021, Duque made a historic commitment to declare 30% of its territory a protected area by 2022, eight years ahead of schedule. President Duque's previous leadership as Senator-including his attention to bills lengthening maternal leave, increasing defibrillator availability, and promoting creative industries-demonstrated his dedication to improving the quality of life for Colombians. Additionally, Concordia acknowledges the immense support President Duque has provided to the organization, from being an early advocate for Concordia's Summits to recruiting influential leaders to the global community.

"I am honored to receive the 2022 Leadership Award on behalf of the public sector. Concordia, for me, embodies the essence of global progress: collaboration, nonpartisanship, partnership, and inclusivity," said President Duque. "Colombia is facing a crossroads. As I reflect on my presidency over the last four years, and as the country enters uncharted waters, one thing is clear: open dialogue and collaboration, both across sectors and neighboring countries, is key to advancing progress. For that reason, I'm so honored to participate in the Concordia Americas Summit, which will fuel much-needed debate and seek out multi-stakeholder solutions."

For the private sector, Concordia is recognizing Ginni Rometty for her outstanding leadership and tremendous impact at OneTen and as CEO of IBM from 2012-2020. At IBM, Rometty made bold changes to reposition the company for the future of technology in Hybrid Cloud and Artificial Intelligence by expanding its assets, optimizing its portfolio, and modeling responsible digital stewardship. Her pioneering initiatives in diversity and inclusion set up the company for long-lasting success in the technology industry. Recognized by the Catalyst Award in 2018, Rometty's efforts to improve women's experiences in the workplace are important components of achieving workforce equality. Additionally, her work at OneTen to empower minority communities and support their place in the technology industry and beyond only further highlights her deep commitment to building and fostering sustainable labor forces and leadership in one of the world's most influential sectors.

"In this digital era, we could have a digital divide where the benefits of technology go to the few and not the many. We can all be part of making progress toward closing the skills gap and working to improve racial equity," said Rometty. "I truly believe that when we do, companies and leaders will see that inclusion creates better products and makes them more competitive. I'm honored to receive the 2022 Leadership Award and to share the work we're doing at OneTen to upskill, hire, and promote one million Black Americans into family-sustaining jobs over the next 10 years. I look forward to the Annual Summit and to continuing the conversation around how we break down systemic barriers and open the door to full participation in our economy."

For the nonprofit sector, Concordia has selected Sister Norma Pimentel for her notable efforts to support migrants seeking refuge in the U.S. along the Texas/Mexico border. In her role as Executive Director of the Catholic Charities of the Rio Grande Valley, Sister Pimentel oversees the charitable arm of the Diocese of Brownsville, providing oversight of the different ministries and services in the areas of the Rio Grande Valley through emergency assistance, homelessness prevention, disaster relief, clinical counseling, pregnancy care, food programs, and the Humanitarian Respite Center. Her organization has housed and assisted over 100,000 people at the border.

DALLAS, Texas -- KPost Roofing & Waterproofing today announced work on the Globe Life Field in Arlington, TX, has earned a national Excellence in Construction® Pyramid Award, presented during ABC's Convention 2022 in San Antonio, on March 16. The EIC awards are the construction industry's leading national competition that honors general and specialty contractors for world-class, safe and innovative construction projects from across the nation.

"We could not be prouder of the KPost men and women who safely and successfully completed this iconic project, Globe Life Field!" stated Steve Little, President of KPost Roofing & Waterproofing. Globe Life Field, home of the Texas Rangers, has one of the world's largest retractable roofs. Foreman Thomas Williams led a crew of 80 from January 2019 to May 2020. KPost's complex scope of work included installing approximately 450,000 square feet of Carlisle's single-ply KEE PVC, a fleece-backed membrane for hail damage protection, and Liquiseal in gray to waterproof the steel structures penetrating the roof.

"For years, ABC has been honored to award outstanding construction projects like the Globe Life Field by KPost," said 2022 National Chair of the ABC Board of Directors Stephanie Schmidt, president, Poole Anderson Construction, State College, Pennsylvania. "Through hard work on this project, KPost shows the value of teamwork, overcoming challenges and creativity on the jobsite."

The EIC award honors all construction team members, including the contractor, owner, architect and engineer. The winning projects are judged on complexity, attractiveness, unique challenges overcome, completion time, workmanship, innovation and safety.

A panel of industry experts served as the competition's judges. This year's judges included representatives from the Smithsonian Facilities Construction Division, Construction Management Association of America, Engineering News-Record, Design-Build Institute of America, University Research Institute and various construction-related firms nationwide.

Students Complete HBCU Green Fund’s Fellowship – Primed for Growing Opportunities in Clean Energy

ATLANTA, Ga. -- After successfully completing a rigorous fellowship that exposes students to opportunities in clean energy and sustainability, Serena Echols was awarded an internship assisting a community in Florida that was exposed to contaminated groundwater. One of twelve students selected by the HBCU Green Fund to participate in their inaugural Atlanta University Center (AUC) Fellows Program, Echols will document the experiences of the residents and seek resources for long overdue environmental justice.

A partnership between the HBCU Green Fund and the Russell Innovation Center for Entrepreneurs (RICE), the AUC Fellows Program connects students at Spelman College, Clark Atlanta University and Morehouse College with entrepreneurs and professionals that provided training, mentoring and internships in energy and STEM industries. A grant to RICE from the U.S. Department of Energy provides resources for the program.

"The inaugural AUC fellowship was a huge success," said Illai Kenney, national program director, HBCU Green Fund. "Whether you look at the increase in catastrophic climate events or the impacts of oil on the global economy, the critical need for a swift transition to clean energy is clear. This program will help expand the pipeline of skilled professionals required to achieve energy independence. We're proud that AUC Fellows are primed to train their peers, educate their communities, and capitalize on emerging green infrastructure opportunities."

The students were introduced to various energy careers and gained hands-on training in renewable energy technologies. They conducted energy audits of buildings in Atlanta, received instruction on electric vehicle charging stations, and learned to mount solar panels. The program emphasized information on starting an energy-related business and identifying business opportunities. The fellows also attended the annual BIPOC Climate Justice Dialogue, a discussion between climate justice scholars, organizers, academics, and government officials about opportunities in President Biden's Justice40 Initiative.

"It was very helpful to be able to question someone who works in sustainability daily and has created a profitable business in the area," adds Echols, an environmental science major headed into her senior year at Spelman College. "I am excited about the internship the HBCU Green Fund helped me secure at the University of South Florida where I will explore the cultural construction of risk in a peri-urban African American community whose groundwater was contaminated by chlorinated solvents from the former American Beryllium Corporation site."

The AUC Fellows were trained by successful Black entrepreneurs and executives who work in the energy sector; many of them are also HBCU graduates. Dr. Anthony Kinslow, CEO of Gemini Energy Solutions; Sheryl E. Ponds CEO of Dai Technologies; Gilbert Campbell, CEO of Volt Energy Utility LL; Kristal Hansley, CEO We Solar Energy; and the WDC Solar team provided instruction. AUC faculty mentors Dr. Armita Davarpanah and Dr. Fatemah Shafiei (Spelman College), Dr. Cynthia Hewitt (Morehouse College), Dr. Olu Olatidoye and Dr. Myron Williams (Clark Atlanta University), along with Spelman Facilities Director, Arthur E. Frazier.

The 2022 AUC fellows are:

Sophia Boyd (Spelman), Serena Echols (Spelman), Indrianna Bowleg (Spelman), Brionna Findley (Spelman), N'Dya Jeffries (Clark Atlanta), Conrad Mctavish (Morehouse), Jason Gill (Morehouse), Ihunanya Destiny Agomuoh, (Spelman), Noah Bacon-Angevine (Morehouse), and Andre Brown (Morehouse). Two additional fellows joined late in the semester: Jonathan Banks (Morehouse) and Kahlea Henry (Spelman).

About The HBCU Green Fund:

The HBCU Green Fund is a non-profit, nonpartisan organization working to advance campus-wide sustainability at historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) and promote student engagement in green initiatives. The organization produces the HBCU Green Report, a ranking of green initiatives on HBCU campuses.

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. -- Financial Women of San Francisco (FWSF), an organization dedicated to advancing the careers of women for over 60 years, names seventeen students from Bay Area colleges and universities as its 2022 scholarship recipients. FWSF has awarded over $3 million in scholarships over the past 35 years to more than 325 Bay Area women.

This is a corrected release to replace our previous release issued on May 19, 2022.

"We are proud to offer a record 17 women the scholarships they need to pursue their educational goals in finance and accounting," says Melissa Maquilan-Radic, FWSF's 2022 President. "And we are so grateful to our generous donors and supporters who have helped make this happen."

The FWSF scholarship grants - $10,000 for undergraduate and $15,000 for graduate students - support each recipient's educational goals. Beyond financial support, FWSF scholarship recipients also receive opportunities to be mentored by FWSF members and attend career development and networking events. This year, FWSF awarded scholarships to more students than ever before.

Each recipient is an academic and community leader whose goals align with FWSF's mission to empower and support women in finance. All have a passion for finance and many act as mentors to other women and those from low-income communities, sharing financial literacy to help end the cycle of poverty.

From venture investing in women and minorities; to co-founding a non-profit that reduces financial disparities for low-income, first generation, and minority students; to social entrepreneurship; to community building and mentoring and hiring women in their organizations, these scholarship winners demonstrate a commitment to making a positive impact in the world.

"Our data intelligence and market insights for real estate and mortgage professionals have only grown in value alongside our business, and we're proud to provide the insights mortgage and title professionals need to strategically navigate today's market volatility."

The Inc. 5000 list shows a remarkable rate of growth across all industries in the Rocky Mountains region. Between 2018 and 2020, these 60 private companies had an average growth rate of 253% and, in 2020 alone, they added 4,176 jobs and $941.9 million to the Rocky Mountain region's economy.
