ANAHEIM, Calif., May 20 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- Lockdown Co. is excited to announce that, after undergoing extensive testing, their Steelcore Spa Security Safety Straps won the iParenting Media Award for the 2008 Excellent Products Call. iParenting.com is a Disney Internet Group media property, and a premier media site focused on parents.

Caption: spa safety from Lockdown Co.The company operates iParenting Media Awards, a premier product evaluation and testing service that is designed to provide a credible and an objective method of determining the best products in the marketplace - in this case, home safety. The winner is then honored with the most prestigious consumer award.

There were thousands of product entries and all were subject to the only internationally-certified product evaluation system in the parenting and awards' industry.

The iParenting Media Awards' program is ISO 9001: 2000 certified. This means that they have adopted the highest standards of quality and are audited by an objective third party - Underwriters Laboratories Inc. - to meet these requirements.

The review panel consisted of a licensed childcare facility/school, an expert, and a parent.

One of the reviewers explains, "This product is sturdy and well designed. We were able to put it to use in just minutes after getting it out of the packaging. The concept is ideal; I don't want to worry about my kids playing near the spa."

Another reviewer was pleased by the product's convenience and says, There easer to use than the old plastic locks.

In almost all areas, spa covers are required to be locked or secured by a designated pool fence where a gate has to be erected. Spas are sold with plastic spa cover locks to meet those requirements.

iParenting award"This award came at a perfect time because now many city and county building departments as well as insurance companies have concluded that the stock plastic locks and accompanying miniature plastic keys that come with spas is not enough protection," Sam Kennedy, owner, Lockdown Co. says. "This award reveals to people that a credible, off-the-shelf solution is available. They are easily installed and come with a renewed sense of security and safety."

Currently, Steelcore Spa Security Safety Straps are the only acceptable spa locks for most day care centers and foster care homes.

Are Green Toilets Going Mainstream?

FRESNO, Ohio, May 14 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- Just a few years ago, if you mentioned composting toilets, people would go, "A what toilet...?!?" You either quickly changed the subject, or went into an ever-lasting explanation about what it is, how it works and especially why on earth anybody would want to have a toilet that doesn't flush. "Things are changing," says Peter Andersson, President of BioLet USA.

Caption: BioLet Waterless ToiletThese days, waterless toilets - and toilets that use less water - have become very common; in some areas they are even considered a necessity. Waterless urinals can be found at many airports or sport arenas, and people are gradually becoming more educated about wise water usage. Another sign that "green toilets" are about to go mainstream is that BioLet, the world's leading manufacturer of waterless toilet systems, now has its products sold nationally by The Home Depot and ACE Hardware, two of the world's largest home improvement retailers. All of the stores carry information about BioLet products and customers can order their very own zero-flush toilet directly at the store.

In many industrialized countries, waterless toilets have been sold for over 30 years and they have become an approved method of toilet waste disposal. In some areas, these systems have even become the preferred way of treating sewage. In Sweden, commonly referred to as the origin of the modern composting toilet industry, over 100,000 systems have been installed countrywide and BioLet's advanced technology has made these waterless toilets the easy and green way to go.

The principle is very simple. Just as Mother Nature intended for waste to be recycled into nutrients for the next generation, a BioLet toilet transforms human waste into a dry, odorless material that can easily be disposed of, or even recycled back to Nature. The toilet consists of various control mechanisms that guarantee an odor free operation and let's the proud owner of a BioLet appreciate the benefits of having a fully functional toilet while doing his or her part to protect their nation's precious water resources.

In addition to providing an excellent choice for saving water, the Swedish made BioLet can also save a lot of hard earned cash. When installing a regular flush toilet, water and sewer lines need to be connected to a toilet and linked to a septic or sewer system. A contractor has to dig up the yard and it usually takes days or weeks until a new toilet is installed. Whereas a BioLet can be self-installed in less than two hours, for considerably less money.

"Why wait?," says Andersson, "Go Green today!"

Caption: Stacking resin chairs and tables in hot colorsSeveral paint companies manufacture spray paints for resin products, including furniture. However, adding this finish destroys the environmental benefits of resin furniture.

Furniture can no longer be recycled easily because of the additional paint finish. Before painted plastic can be recycled, all of the paint has to be removed from each piece of plastic. And, some think the paint isn't as comfortable to sit in on a hot summer day.

Instead of spending unnecessary money on painting the chair, and worrying about unattractive drips and runs, it is much easier to simply recycle existing resin furniture. It's better for the environment to replace old resin furniture with the season's hottest colors.

Adams' high-quality resin furniture is protected from UV rays without being painted, and your color will stay true as long as you have the chair. It's the best deal for you and the environment!

Established in 1981, Adams Mfg. takes pride in providing high-quality, safe consumer products Made in the USA. In addition to casual furniture, Adams also manufactures Christmas decorating accessories, suction cups, and magnets. The company holds exclusive patents on many of its items.

May is Prime Time to Plant Home Vineyard

Author: Vinescapes, Inc.

freeNewsArticles Story Summary: “JEFFERSON VALLEY, N.Y., May 5 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- For those dreaming of installing a small vineyard at their home, Vinescapes Inc. announces May is rush time. A R T I C L E:

JEFFERSON VALLEY, N.Y., May 5 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- For those dreaming of installing a small vineyard at their home, Vinescapes Inc. announces May is rush time. Plants must be in the ground before June 2, which makes this the busiest time of the year for the home vineyard industry. Those who miss this crucial window can prepare the vineyard this season by installing the trellising, testing and amending the soil. But must wait until next year to start their new vines.

Those interested in creating their own home based vineyard need to act quickly in order to get their vines in the ground before the buds begin to swell. Growers should expect usable grapes in about three to five years after first planting vines. Common red and white grapes grown in New York State include cabernet franc, riesling, sayval blanc, traminette, and vidal blanc just to name a few. Home based winemakers can expect about a gallon of wine per vine once they start producing grapes.

With advances in vineyard techniques over the past ten years, more and more people are creating personal home based wineries. Some companies, like Vinescapes, Inc., take customers from planning a vineyard all the way through teaching making wine from their own grapes-from the vine to the wine. This is a great option for those looking to make their own organic or kosher wines or just bottle their own label. It is a good idea for those just starting out to take advantage of such expertise.

It doesn't take much to create a small vineyard - as few as ten vines. This brings the idea of a boutique winery to a whole new level. In order to yield the highest-quality grapes it is important to start with a good piece of land and the right vines for the location.

According to Christopher DeNisco of Vinescapes, Inc. (www.vinescapesinc.com) "You would be surprised at how easy it can be to start a home-based vineyard. Right now is our busiest time of the year as new and expanding vineyards rush to get their plants in the ground."

Vinescapes, Inc. custom-designs home and commercial vineyards to ensure that growers have the best chance of success.

DIY: Inexpensive Contraption May Help Save Marriages

PAHRUMP, Nev., April 28 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- A new device from JBL Innovations called the Wallmarker (www.Wallmarker.net) may be the answer for couples who cannot hang pictures without arguing or calling a handyman. For couples who are not handy, just hanging a picture may require help from a handyman. Not anymore. A new, inexpensive product called The Wallmarker makes it easy for anyone to hang pictures straight every time.

Caption, The Wallmarker, from JBL InnovationsRebecca Smith from Arkansas was filled with angst because she and her husband were about to re-hang pictures. Work around the house did not come naturally for either of them.

Then she found the Wallmarker. "This could be a marriage-saver," she says.

The hardest part about hanging a picture is figuring out where to hammer the nail. And the Wallmarker, a new tool from inventor Jeff Lombardo, makes it easy to figure that out.

"WallMarker almost makes it fun to hang a picture," says Lombardo.

The WallMarker is a piece of chalk shaped like an arrow that has adhesive on one side. It sticks to the back of the picture at the center, to allow the picture to be positioned and eyeballed. When the position is right, the picture can be pushed against the wall to create a chalk mark. That's the spot where the nail goes.

And the job's done.

The WallMarker eliminates the need for meticulous measuring and guesswork while hanging pictures.

"If you make a mistake the chalk will easily wipe off the wall and there are no holes to hide," says Lombardo.

The WallMarker can be used over and over.

To find out more about the WallMarker, please visit www.wallmarker.net.

About Wallmarker: The WallMarker is a piece of chalk shaped like an arrow that has an adhesive side designed to make hanging a picture. Pictures can be easily eyeballed and marked without the need for measuring or multiple nail holes.

Interview Requests: Jeff Lombardo is available for television, radio or newspaper interviews.

PORTERSVILLE, Pa., April 1 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- Adams Manufacturing has discovered that many consumers want to know more about which resin chair is best for them. Basically, all stacking resin chairs come in three sizes. The smallest are called low-backs. They're the most economical. They're usually about 31 inches high at the back, and they weigh about five pounds. They're a good value. They last for years, and don't need to be painted, sanded, or maintained.

Caption: Adams Manufacturing stacking resin Adirondack chairMid-back chairs are a little larger. They're usually 34 inches tall at the back. Their arms and seats are a little wider. They are more comfortable, and offer more support than the low-back chairs.

High-backs are the largest of all stacking resin chairs. Big men prefer a chair that's between 36 and 38 inches high at the back. High-backs are also stronger in construction. Each one usually weighs 7 or 8 pounds, for better strength and reliability. High-back chairs are the most comfortable resin chairs tested, and certified to hold 250 pounds. The high-back's seating area and arm spacing is far more generous. Chairs like the Adams "Tropical Isle" are widely regarded as premier high-back chairs.

The stacking resin Adirondack chairs are neither low-back, mid-back, nor high-back. They're in a class by themselves, and offer one of the best values in lawn and patio furniture. They're large, strong, and very comfortable. Compared to wooden Adirondack chairs, they're a tenth of the cost, and, they don't need to be sanded and painted every year or so.

Regardless of which size and style of stacking resin furniture best fits a user's needs, all of Adams' resin chairs are 100% recyclable and 100% Made in the USA. More information: www.adamsmfg.com.

Air Quality Company Provides Free Furnace Testing and Inspection to Ensure Safe Air

Author: SafeHVAC.com

freeNewsArticles Story Summary: “CHICAGO, Ill., March 18 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- Having healthy air in a home or workplace should not be a luxury, but a necessity. That's why a new web site, SafeHVAC.com(TM), is offering free furnace tests and inspections to demonstrate not only how to improve air quality, but overall health. A R T I C L E:

CHICAGO, Ill., March 18 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- Having healthy air in a home or workplace should not be a luxury, but a necessity. That's why a new web site, SafeHVAC.com(TM), is offering free furnace tests and inspections to demonstrate not only how to improve air quality, but overall health. Home and business owners fill out a simple online form and are instantly registered for a free test; it's that simple.

SafeHVACMold spores can grow at the rate of 70 trillion new mold spores in just 24 hours and cooling coils (the lung of a furnace) is a perfect breeding ground for mold and bacteria, due to condensation. While the furnace or air conditioner is operating, it continually re-circulates that same condensation, mold and bacteria.

The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) both advise on having heating, ventilating and cooling system inspections to ensure that air quality is mold and bacteria free. They agree that these inspections and subsequent actions to improve the system will yield healthier aging and easier breathing.

SafeHVAC.com(TM) not only inspects systems, they provide home and business owners with video and take a sampling of the amount of mold and bacteria that is present; contamination levels will vary. Once the level of contamination is determined, an ultraviolet germicidal c-band (UV-C) is suggested for installation over coils to instantly kill mold and bacteria; it's an affordable EPA treatment to fix the problem.

If not corrected, these micro-organisms will eventually be inhaled leading to a potentially harmful situation, especially for people with respiratory sensitivities and children with asthma.

"Mold is an opportunist, starting at the cooling coils of a furnace," Darryl Morris, Marketing Director for SafeHVAC.com(TM), explains. "Mold breeds; its invisible spores are produced and float throughout the air of a home looking for a moist place to land, reproduce, and create more mold spores. UV-C can stop the cycle at its source - the furnace."

The actual test takes approximately 60 seconds or less and adheres to all laws, regulations and ordinances that pertain to the HVAC and the Indoor Air Quality Industry.

UV-C Antimicrobial Treatment Ultraviolet lights have been used for decades to create some of the world's healthiest environments and it has also been used to disinfect hospitals and sterilize drinking water.

Research has shown that ultraviolet rays with wavelengths of 253.7 nanometers are optimal for killing micro-organisms. This wavelength is commonly called the "Germicidal bandwidth" because it deactivates the DNA of these micro-organisms. SafeHVAC.com's technology has been tested by the EPA against air-borne viruses, mold, and bacteria - and has resulted in being a safe and EPA-registered, non-toxic solution.

Currently, the service is available in six states with plans for expansion: Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, Kentucky, Michigan and Ohio. For more information or to arrange a meeting with an environmental consultant, visit: www.SafeHVAC.com - or call: 1-888-355-HVAC (4822).

The Only Security Product That Secures Spa Covers, Saving Children’s Lives and Protecting Property and Privacy

Author: Lockdown Co.
Dateline: Wed, 30 Jan 2008

freeNewsArticles Story Summary: “ANAHEIM, Calif. - Jan. 30 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- Lockdown Co., announces Patented Steelcore Spa Straps, made with an innovative cut-resistant material SEW (Steel Encased Webbing). The only spa cover security device strong and secure enough to stop all unauthorized access by anyone of any age. Besides saving lives, and ensuring privacy, they are the only spa straps that secure spa covers in high winds.”

A R T I C L E:

ANAHEIM, Calif. Besides saving lives, and ensuring privacy, they are the only spa straps that secure spa covers in high winds.

Caption: spa covers hot tub accessoriesCurrent stock spa covers have small plastic locks that "lock" the spa cover with the use of a plastic key. Trespassers can access these spas by simply inserting any object into this plastic lock, and then clip the buckle back when finished. These plastic locks are only meant to deter children from 0-5 years of age from entering the spa. In contrast, Steelcore buckles are constructed of metal using a real lock which can only be opened with its' designated key. In combination with the buckle, the strap made with SEW (Steel Encased Webbing) is harder to cut then a security cable. Now the spa cover is inaccessible to children of any age and any unauthorized users. It will hold the cover on in the highest of winds. Steelcore Spa safety Straps is the only product allowed to secure spa covers in day care centers and foster homes.

Sam Kennedy, Owner of Steelcore, said, "I originally invented cut-resistant tie-downs for locking down water sports gear and camping gear to car racks. It shocked us that there was nothing on the market that adequately locked spa covers, especially when you consider that in almost all areas, spa covers are required to be locked, or have a designated pool fence with locking gate. This gave us the impetus to come up with a design specific for spa covers and hot tub covers."

"We designed them so customers could easily install them themselves to either a brand new spa or to replace the existing plastic buckles on older spa covers. After all home door locks, pool gate locks, and gun locks are not made of plastic, why should spa locks be? As of yet there has not been one case of someone gaining access to a spa using Steelcore Spa Safety Straps," Sam says.

Steelcore Spa Safety Straps now come in 4 colors - black, brown, tan, and gray. Although you can't put a price on safety; they are reasonably priced around $100, depending on color for the 2 strap set. This is cost-effective as one service call by a spa tech to change the water and clean the spa from spa trespassers can cost more than that. And no more repairing of plastic locks either.

Steelcore is Made in the USA - US patent 6199412,

Perfect Climate Control, a smart energy green company, has the answer. On January 2, 2008, oil broke the $100 mark. As of December 31, 2007, home heating oil cost $3.54 per gallon in New York City.

Caption: Fujitsu Heating SystemSo, what can people do to save money? Perfect Climate Control can prove that the Fujitsu Halcyon heating system is not only super efficient, but will also lower oil bills and heat homes and businesses safely.

At current oil prices, Fujitsu heating systems cost 20 percent less to operate than an oil-fired boiler which operates at 70 percent efficiency (U.S. Dept. of Energy).

Individual room control and a ductless design also contribute to the Fujitsu efficiency and cost-saving model - up to 50 percent. Why heat the whole floor when heat is only needed in one room? Multi-zone capability, wireless remotes, digital controls, and timers make this easy to do. In addition, according to the U.S. Dept. of Energy, energy loss due to ductwork averages 27 percent.

David Fletcher of Perfect Climate Control shares some success stories:

One client in Arlington, Virginia was able to lower her gas heating bill from $1,100 to $300 a month during one of the coldest winters on record; in Washington, D.C., a customer lowered his gas bill to $5. The utility company actually refunded him money.

"Fujitsus were installed in 350 condominiums outside of Philadelphia," Bill Hick, Northeast Regional Sales Manager for Fujitsu recalled. "When the temperature was 10 degrees and windy, it was toasty inside. In three years, the primary heat source, baseboard heating, had never been turned on."

Fujitsu systems not only heat, they also cool. Year-round comfort is provided by the same super-efficient unit. It can also be a cost-effective solution for heating and cooling areas such as extensions, basements, and attics. Other benefits include humidity control and indoor air quality.

Centrally located in New York City, Perfect Climate Control is operated by licensed refrigeration engineers and teachers. They serve the tri-state area and offer free energy consultations.

NEWCOMERSTOWN, Ohio - Nov. 6 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- There are many ways to conserve your valuable water supplies. Now could be the time to take a closer look at your toilet system, says BioLet USA, Inc. With the extreme low levels of rainfall and the already low water tables, many homeowners and residents of drought affected states are concerned with the growing drought conditions and the effects it will have on their daily lives.

Many families are, justifiably, looking for ways to conserve their valuable water supplies that are rapidly declining during this drought situation. One aspect people start taking a closer look at is their flush toilet.

A Report released by the EPA, "How to Conserve Water and Use It Effectively" states: "Residential demands account for about three-fourths of the total urban water demand. Indoor use accounts for roughly 60 percent of all residential use, and of this, toilets (at 3.5 gallons per flush) use nearly 40 percent. ... More than 4.8 billion gallons of water are flushed down toilets each day in the United States. The average American uses about 9,000 gallons of water to flush 230 gallons of waste down the toilet per year."

This report also states that replacing 3.5 gallons per flush toilets with 1.6 gallons per flush toilets will result in a 34 percent savings in household water consumption. However, Jim Weaver, Operations Manager of BioLet USA in Newcomerstown, Ohio states: "BioLet has a product that will further reduce this usage to zero!" BioLet is the US distributor for a Swedish manufactured toilet system that requires no water, no sewer or septic hookup. BioLet toilets need no chemicals and produce no offensive odors.

BioLet composting toilets are an innovation developed over 30 years ago in Sweden to remedy the country's increasing water problems. BioLet toilets work closely with Mother Nature: In warm weather, naturally occurring aerobic bacteria transform organic material into a safe, non-offensive soil component called "humus." Humus is a valuable additive that conditions the soil by supplying vital nutrients. BioLet unites this natural process with modern technology and advanced engineering to accelerate and optimize the decomposition of solids and evaporation of liquids. The finished material is collected in the bottom of the unit, while any odors and water vapors are exhausted through the ventilation system. This entire process is completed within a toilet that is easy to install, simple to maintain and economical to operate.

Another report by the EPA, "Water Efficiency Technology Fact Sheet: Composting Toilets" states: "Public health professionals are beginning to recognize the need for environmentally sound human waste treatment and recycling methods. The composting toilet is a non-water carriage system that is well-suited for (but is not limited to) remote areas where water is scarce, or areas with low percolation, high water tables, shallow soil, or rough terrain. Because composting toilets eliminate the need for flush toilets, this significantly reduces water use and allows for the recycling of valuable plant nutrients."

With many governmental agencies and organizations including; The US Forestry Service, US Coastguard, Tennessee Valley Authority, Girl Scouts of America, University of Texas, Westminster College, North Jersey Water Supply Commission and many more using BioLet's composting toilets, it is clear to see that they are a viable option for replacing conventional toilets and conserving water! Since BioLet toilets have become more common to use, they are now available nationwide through Home Depot and other fine retailers.

On October 30, 2007, the National Drought Mitigation Center in Lincoln, NE states in its National Drought Summary: "For the longer period, the updated seasonal drought outlook indicates that drought will persist or even expand across the Southeast, Gulf Coast, and the Southwest...."

Therefore, next time you think about what you can do about the drought, think before you flush!
