BioAustinCTX Adds Hilary Graham, PhD, to the Board of Directors

AUSTIN, Texas -- BioAustinCTX, Central Texas' Life Science industry organization, announced today the appointment of Hilary Graham, PhD to its Board of Directors. Hilary has studied and worked in the Central Texas life science ecosystem since 2005. She is a storyteller and commercial strategist with a growth mindset specializing in the molecular diagnostics and life sciences markets. Connecting people is her passion.

"Expanding the board with diverse members that represent the biotech community in Central Texas is our present focus with the planned appointment of three to five additional board members by year-end," said Scott Collins, Board of Directors President. "We're excited to have Hilary join us as she brings marketing expertise rooted in customer centricity and a wealth of connections from her 18 years in the Austin and Life Science Reagents/Diagnostic communities."

Hilary leads Marketing for the Molecular Diagnostics Division of Bio-Techne, which includes the Asuragen, Exosome Diagnostics, Armored Molecular Controls, and Companion Diagnostics franchises. In this divisional leadership role, she's responsible for portfolio strategy, product management, and content marketing. Previously to Bio-Techne, Hilary led marketing and application science for the xMAP multiplexing franchise at Luminex and was leading the launch of the INTELLIFLEX system upon departure. Before joining Luminex, Hilary worked in a variety of commercial and technical communications roles at Syneos Health and UT MD Anderson Cancer Center.

"I remember going to BioAustin events early in my graduate training at UT Austin and I'm delighted to come full circle from an event attendee to a member of the BioAustinCTX board," said Hilary Graham. "I look forward to driving enhanced strategic value for the community at large as well as establishing a forum for commercial professionals living in Austin to connect via the establishment of special interest groups focused on marketing and sales as pilots with additional professional disciplines to follow."

BioAustinCTX Announces Board of Director Leadership Changes

AUSTIN, Texas -- Life Science industry organization, BioAustinCTX, announced today changes to its Board of Directors with the departure of Elisa Maldonado-Holmertz and the appointment of Tami Annable. Over the past several years, Austin and the Central Texas region have developed into one of the fastest-growing life science hubs in the U.S.

With more than 240 companies and a variety of community ecosystem organizations involved in building the life science sector, Central Texas emerged as a life science innovation wellspring attracting investment for early-stage startups and relocations for established companies. BioAustinCTX serves as the premier membership organization facilitating the growth of the life science industry in Central Texas by fostering communication, collaboration and engagement across all key stakeholders.

Elisa Maldonado-Holmertz, served on the Board of Directors for BioAustinCTX since 2017. Elisa's leadership and countless hours of support helped to guide the strategic direction and tactical execution of the organization throughout her entire tenure. Elisa played a principal role in producing the monthly BioAustinCTX/TMDA newsletter and coordinating BioAustinCTX's BioBash, the most successful life science industry networking event in Central Texas for more than a decade.

Tami Annable joins the BioAustinCTX Board of Directors effective 01 April 2022. Tami is a well-known member of the life science industry in Central Texas having previously served as the Executive Director of the Temple Health and Bioscience Economic Development District Incubator for the past six years. Tami brings a wealth of professional experience in the healthcare and pharmaceutical industry as well as operational experience working with life science startup companies.

BioAustinCTX is undertaking an expanding range of initiatives and programs supporting continued growth of the life science industry with the goal of establishing the region as a global life sciences economic hub. This evolving strategy will encompass new programs to build collaboration, communication, and growth across companies, community partners, and academic institutions focused on the life science sector.

BioAustin Appoints New Leadership and Unveils An Expanded Strategic Focus In Central Texas As BioAustinCTX

AUSTIN, Texas -- Life Science industry organization BioAustin today announced changes to its leadership team, brand positioning, and long-term strategy focused on facilitating the continued growth of the life science industry in Central Texas. Over the past several years, Austin and the Central Texas region have developed into one of the fastest-growing life science hubs in the U.S. With more than 240 companies and a variety of nonprofit community ecosystem organizations involved in the life science sector, the Central Texas Region has emerged as a significant life science innovation center and is attracting investment for early-stage startups and relocations for established companies.

BioAustinCTX℠ is undertaking new initiatives to identify and facilitate programs to support the continued growth of the life science industry in the Central Texas region. This evolving strategy will encompass new programs to build collaboration, communication, and growth across companies, community partners, and academic institutions focused on the life science sector. Steps taken in the first six months include changes in Board leadership, repositioning the organization as BioAustinCTX with a broader focus across the Central Texas region, restructuring internal operations to improve efficiency, and the launch of a redesigned monthly newsletter and new website (https://www.bioaustinctx.com). Over the next year, BioAustinCTX will be rolling out new programs including the relaunch of its vaunted "BioBash" life sciences networking event.

John Burns Ph.D. and Mary Costello have stepped down from the BioAustin Board as of the end of 2020. Their time, commitment, and contributions over the past several years are greatly appreciated. Elisa Maldonado-Holmertz has served on the BioAustin Board of Directors since 2017 and will continue to serve on the BioAustinCTX Board. Elisa also serves on the Board of Directors of the Texas Medical Device Alliance.

Scott Collins PhD, CEO of Austin Innovation Group, was appointed as President of BioAustinCTX. Scott stated, "I will lead the organization with the expertise and guidance of the Board of Directors and through collaborations with our community partners, including THBI, TEXGHS, ACC, UT-Dell Medical School, Austin Chamber of Commerce, Austin Health Council, THBD, Texas Health CoLab, ACC Bioscience Incubator, Texas State Star Park, the Austin Technology Incubator and our members."

Newly appointed to BioAustinCTX Board of Directors as of January 2021 is Timothy Sullivan. Timothy is CEO of Zeteo Biomedical LLC, a Pflugerville, TX-based medical device company. Timothy has a long history of supporting the development of the life science industry in Central Texas over the past two decades. Timothy currently serves as an Advisor to the UT Dell Medical School Catalyst program, the ACC Bioscience Incubator, and is a founding member of the TEXGHS Global Health Security Consortium. Further expansion of the BioAustinCTX board is likely in the coming year.

Additionally, Cathy Diehl and Melissa Hartman joined the BioAustinCTX operations staff. Cathy took the lead position managing the new BioAustinCTX website and monthly newsletter production, and Melissa manages the back office accounting and bookkeeping tasks.
