Capital Subaru of Greensboro to Hold Dog Appreciation Day Event

RALEIGH, N.C. -- Capital Subaru of Greensboro will host a free dog wash event in honor of Subaru's "Make a Dog's Day" effort. Sparked by the "Subaru Loves Pets" initiative, the Greensboro dealership will welcome dogs and their owners to enjoy the celebration, spotlighting their support for the love and well-being of our furry friends.

Pet washing services will be provided by Kinder Grooming, a local mobile pet spa. Space is limited so it will be necessary to reserve a spot for your pooch for that day.

"This day will be an opportunity for our dealership to enjoy and engage with our community of pet lovers," remarked Ken Fanelli, general manager of Capital Subaru of Greensboro. "We get to take part in a fun and caring event. We all could use a little joy these days, and dogs certainly add that aspect to our lives."

While Subaru of America reaffirms its commitment to pets in need for the month of October, Capital Subaru of Greensboro has invited the Guilford County Animal Services to join in the event. They will arrive with a mobile pet van with dogs waiting to be adopted. All are welcome to come and pet them even if you don't have a dog to wash.

All proceeds and donations for the day will go to SPCA of the Triad.

The event will take place on Saturday, October 19, 2019 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 801 East Bessemer Ave., Greensboro, NC, 27405.

Capital Subaru of Greensboro Share the Love Event to Support ‘Now What?’ Charity

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Capital Subaru of Greensboro will generously present a check for $16,369.56 to the "Now What?" charity, a network for widows, at 6 p.m. on Friday, April 27, 2018, at the Share the Love event.

"Now What?" is a non-profit, compassionate organization dedicated to helping widows find help and support. Offering a safe environment and a place to connect with other widows, they also help raise awareness for those in need by connecting with local organizations such as churches, hospice, etc. Caring for widows in practical ways through auto repair, home care, financial planning, spiritual guidance, and more is an ongoing service provided by the charity.

Founded by Brenda Cannady, who found herself widowed in 2011, along with John Bowman, "Now What?" serves as a refuge and support for those facing the uncertainty of widowhood.

Capital Subaru of Greensboro has been nationally recognized for a strong dedication to their community and has notably received the Subaru Love Promise Community Commitment Award for 2018. Not only through their donations, but their involvement in areas such as Guilford County SPCA, Peeler Open Elementary School, Cone Health, and Now What? have achieved for them this honor.

"The heart of this dealership is reflected in our Share the Love event," said Jason Pies, General Manager for Capital Subaru of Greensboro. "We interact with many widowed men and women and realize the need to support organizations such as 'Now What?' and we're honored to be able to do our part to help them out. Hosting this event continues to be an incredible privilege."

Capital Subaru is donating to "Now What?" for the second year in a row.

During their Subaru Share the Love event, Subaru of America, Inc., will donate $250 for every new Subaru vehicle sold or leased with the customer's choice of charity, which have included Meals on Wheels, Make-A-Wish, and National Parks Foundation. Additionally, a local retailer is selected to pair their contributions for a local charity with the Subaru of America's existing contributions. Their generosity generates a substantial amount of money, and this year, through Capital Subaru of Greensboro, "Now What?" is the appreciative recipient.

Capital Subaru Teams with Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Spreading Warmth to Local Cancer Patients

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- "Love. It's what makes a Subaru, a Subaru" has been the automobile company's slogan for more than a decade. For the second year in a row, Capital Subaru of Greensboro, along with Subaru of America and The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS), are spreading love, hope and warmth to cancer patients and their families in communities across the country.

Throughout the month of June, Capital Subaru of Greensboro participated in the Subaru Loves to Care initiative to gather public awareness and support for local leukemia and lymphoma patients. Visitors to the dealership as well as the store's website were encouraged to write messages of hope to patients and received a bracelet to wear spreading awareness of LLS and Subaru's goal to provide hope and care, one gesture at a time.

As the largest voluntary cancer health agency specifically focused on finding cures and treatments for blood cancer patients, LLS supports hundreds of cancer scientists and research projects around the world.

The June activities at Capital Subaru culminated with a presentation to the Wesley Long Hospital and Cone Health Cancer Center. "We passed along all those messages of hope and blankets to help keep patients warm as they continue their fight against cancer," said Lex Depp, Jr., General Manager of Capital Subaru.

"We want to do our part to help underscore the mission of the Cone Health Cancer Center, especially its work on behalf of leukemia and lymphoma patients seeking access to quality, affordable, coordinated care," continued Depp.

"Our partnership with Capital Subaru through the 'Subaru Loves to Care' program will greatly impact our patients and their families in the Triad with medical co-pay assistance and other free resources," the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Triad Chapter Campaign Specialist Susan Scott-Yancey said. "We are grateful to Lex Depp, Jr. and his entire team at Capital Subaru of Greensboro for helping LLS serve and provide support for our cancer community in their greatest time of need."

Yancey continued, "The money raised will help fund the society's mission to cure Leukemia, Lymphoma, Hodgkin's Disease, Myeloma and improve the quality of life of patients and their families."

Capital Subaru of Greensboro participates in numerous 'Love Promise' campaigns, which raise money for local charities. This was Capital's 2nd year participating in this particular campaign. Capital Subaru of Greensboro has contributed $43,550 to local North Carolina charities.

Capital Subaru of Greensboro to donate $42,000 to Group That Comforts Widows

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Over the last nine years, Subaru of America, Inc. has donated more than $94 million to national and local charities across the United States through its annual Share the Love event. For the second year in a row, Capital Subaru of Greensboro, North Carolina selected NOW WHAT - A NETWORK FOR WIDOWS in Greensboro as its charity of choice.

As one of this year's hometown charity partners, NOW WHAT will revive a check for nearly $42,000 to help the organization raise awareness and hope for widows to rediscover their physical, mental, social and spiritual purpose.

During the annual Share the Love event, Subaru donates $250 for every new Subaru vehicle sold or leased to a host of charitable partners, per the selection of each customer. This year, Capital Subaru upped the ante by setting aside an additional $100 per vehicle sold. Each Subaru retailer selects a hometown charity from their community to support, adding more than 660 local causes to the Share the Love campaign.

Subaru's donation is the largest single donation NOW WHAT has ever received from a corporation and Capital Subaru is the only corporate sponsor the organization to date has had. The check presentation will take place on Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at a catered dinner for 100 NOW WHAT members and the Capital Subaru staff at Capital Subaru, 801 E Bessemer Ave, Greensboro, N.C.

"Hundreds of widows come through our doors every year with many requiring a great deal of support in many areas," said John Bowman, one of the organization's founders. "NOW WHAT provides a way for widows and widowers to network with each other and find support and encouragement."

"This incredibly generous Share the Love donation from Subaru of America and Capital Subaru of Greensboro ensures that we can go on to help widows and widowers begin to face the new reality of living as singles."

Bowman stressed that the Share the Love donation is exclusively earmarked for ongoing programs centered in the Greensboro area. "Every dollar from Subaru will go directly toward the support and encouragement of those feeling isolated and vulnerable through the loss of their spouse," he said.

"Subaru is proud to partner with NOW WHAT as part of the ninth annual Share the Love event," said Lex Depp, Jr., General Manager at Capital Subaru. "We are thrilled that this donation will help lift the spirits of good people in need of support in our local community."

"Most widows have no idea of how to purchase and/or take care of an automobile," said Depp. "Generally, that has never been their responsibility. The team at Capital Subaru of Greensboro assist our widows in an honest, fair, and friendly manner that gives them comfort and peace of mind in an area many know nothing about. And the money we raise through Share the Love provides programs and events that helps us continue to raise awareness and support for widows."
