‘Ardi’s’ 4.4 Million-Year-Old Footsteps Get Modern Day Simulation

LifeModeler, Inc. provided biomechanical simulation software to help scientists visualize motion.

SAN CLEMENTE, Calif., Oct. 7 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- The recent news of "Ardi," the oldest and most complete hominid skeleton yet discovered, continues to generate worldwide interest. LifeModeler, Inc. has reason to pay close attention. The company's LifeMOD™ biomechanical simulation software helped researchers understand how the 4.4 million-year-old Ardipithecus ramidus female walked and moved.

LifeModeler's founder, Shawn McGuan, worked with anthropologist C. Owen Lovejoy of Kent State University to create 3D models of the bones and muscles of this specimen first discovered in 1992.

Not only were they seeking information as to how her bones and muscles fit together, they also wanted to visualize the range of motion she was capable of, based on her anatomy. A detailed model of Ardi's foot provided particular insight for Lovejoy and the extensive team working on the project which was first disclosed last week in the journal Science.

The LifeMOD software determined that Ardi was the first fossil hominid to have had an opposable big toe, meaning she was able to live in the tree canopy and walk nearly upright on the ground. Research shows that a small bone inside a tendon maintained rigidity in her big toe.

"We used simulations to answer the primary question as to how a foot that could grasp a branch was also able to walk efficiently," said McGuan.

Some of the work done by McGuan will be featured on the Discovery Channel this Sunday, when a documentary tracing the research, "Discovering Ardi," is shown, followed by a roundtable discussion detailing the impact of the scientific study.

While this might be the first time for many viewers to see how this unique technology is applied, the medical, sporting goods, automotive, and educational communities have relied on LifeMOD extensively since the company was founded seven years ago. The family of software applications has most prominently been used by orthopedic device makers in helping them to efficiently develop advanced human joint replacements. It is also used by NASA to generate information regarding astronaut weight loads during selected exercises in outer space.

Sheen Challenges 9/11 Truth Debunkers to Larry King Live Debate

Author: The Alex Jones Show
Dateline: Fri, 11 Sep 2009

freeNewsArticles Story Summary: “AUSTIN, Texas (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- Appearing on The Alex Jones Show today to discuss his video address to Barack Obama, Charlie Sheen has challenged those who have publicly attacked him for speaking out on 9/11 - particularly Meghan McCain, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and Bill O'Reilly - to debate him on CNN's Larry King Live. 'We're not hiding,' states Sheen as he calls out McCain, Hannity, Limbaugh and O'Reilly.”

A R T I C L E:

"We're not hiding," states Sheen as he calls out McCain, Hannity, Limbaugh and O'Reilly.

AUSTIN, Texas, Sept. 11 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- Appearing on The Alex Jones Show today to discuss his video address to Barack Obama, Charlie Sheen has challenged those who have publicly attacked him for speaking out on 9/11 - particularly Meghan McCain, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and Bill O'Reilly - to debate him on CNN's Larry King Live.

Following the publication of Sheen's "20 Minutes With The President," a fictionalized account of a meeting with Barack Obama in which Sheen implores the President to reopen the investigation of 9/11 in light of the majority of the 9/11 Commission members publicly denouncing the official story as a deception, McCain attacked Sheen on ABC's top rated show The View, comparing people who question 9/11 with holocaust deniers.

"I quoted Charlie Sheen yesterday about his experience with prostitutes, so really you're the one I should be listening to about 9/11?... I am not going to take my political advice from Charlie Sheen," stated McCain, daughter of the former Republican nominee John McCain.

McCain's sophomoric reliance on attacking Sheen on the foundation of decades-old events in his personal life, while failing to address even one of the 20 pieces of evidence raised in his letter to Obama, is typical of the media response to Sheen's challenge thus far.

Amongst the scoffers and debunkers, not one corporate media outfit has managed to actually address a single point Sheen raised in his letter, resorting instead to childish quips and badly researched proclamations.

A familiar theme arising out of such hit pieces is an effort to imply that Sheen's questioning of the official 9/11 story is somehow an "outrage" and hurtful to the family members of the victims, despite the fact that many of the victims' family members share the same questions.

Furthermore, claiming that people who doubt the government story are on a par with holocaust deniers completely ignores the fact that six of the ten 9/11 Commission members, along with scores of other highly credible former and current government officials, intelligence professionals, military officials, scientists, structural engineers and architects, and legal scholars have all publicly questioned the official version of events behind September 11.

Fox News talking heads Bill O'Reilly and Sean Hannity, as well as popular radio host Rush Limbaugh, have also attempted to attack Sheen's credibility while failing to discuss any of the subjects he actually raised.

In response, Sheen told The Alex Jones Show that he is challenging any one or all of McCain, Hannity, Limbaugh or O'Reilly to a debate about 9/11 on CNN's Larry King Live or any other television show in Los Angeles, adding that the show must be broadcast live to prevent bias editing.

Should the debate go ahead, Sheen will be accompanied by Bob Mcilvaine, a 9/11 families representative who lost his son Robert in the attacks. Sheen suggested that his adversary in the debate be accompanied by representatives from Popular Mechanics, who have routinely sought to debunk questions surrounding 9/11.

"Let's do it," Sheen told the Alex Jones Show Friday, "I issue the challenge to debate Meghan McCain, Rush Limbaugh, Sen Hannity, Bill O'Reilly, bring them all, Bob Mcilvaine and I will join you on Larry King Live and you guys bring whatever you've got ... and we'll show up with the truth and we'll just see how it goes - we're not hiding," added Sheen.

The Alex Jones Show broadcasts live from Austin, TX from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. Central. Alex Jones' show and Web sites Infowars.com and PrisonPlanet.com are a focal point and a forum where many prominent figures from academia, the political world and Hollywood have spoken out about what really happened on September 11th.

The Balancing Act on Lifetime Television Launches Dynamic Fall Season with New Hosts and Set.

POMPANO BEACH, Fla., Aug. 19 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- This fall American coffee cup tippers will be breaking new "grounds" by changing their normal morning show routine - and tuning into the newly revamped "The Balancing Act" - from Brandstar Entertainment. Women who want a fast-paced half-hour of news you can use, and endless entertainment will be looking to the Balancing Act for their daily dose of trends and tips - featuring advice from the country's leading experts.

Due to the overwhelming response to the program's first season, the producers are taking the popular morning show to a dynamic new level of style and substance. The new season, which kicks off August 24th, will reveal two engaging new hosts, Beth Troutman and Kristy Villa. Not only a new set of hosts-but also a new sophisticated set and look!

"Women are craving a morning show that really speaks to their issues," say Michael Moss, Executive VP of Production for The Balancing Act. "They want a show that's fun, without a lot of fluff; they need real advice that will help them and their families every day."

A nationwide search went out to find the perfect-or should we say well balanced duo. Moss says, "You can imagine the competition. But we chose Beth and Kristy because of the way viewers will relate to them. They are bright, funny, energetic, and they get it!! They know the struggle it is to keep the balance between all of a woman's multiple roles."

Beth and Kristy have it down to a science with their chemistry! They are exciting to watch as they banter, and play off of each other's words. They're informative, their dynamic-what can we say? They're women! Beth and Kristy both say, "We're already hearing the buzz about the show - and are excited to be a part of it!"

Beth Troutman, a North Carolina native, has had a diverse and groundbreaking career. At 19, while still in college, she founded a not-for-profit organization focusing on self-esteem issues for young girls. She later spent four years working for the television series The West Wing, and became so inspired that she became the first woman to run for the U.S. House of Representatives in North Carolina's District 8. After losing in a very tight race, she was then tapped to host the morning show Fox News Rising. She is married and lives in South Florida.

Kristy Villa, a Miami native, has been a highly respected anchor and reporter in some of the country's largest television markets including Miami, Houston and Phoenix. She's covered an array of national stories including the Papal visit to Cuba and Hurricane Wilma. As a former medical representative, Kristy brings a wealth of knowledge about the health issues that concern women. She is married with two children.

freeNewsArticles Story Summary: “LOS ANGELES, Calif. (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- Tweens, teens and adults alike have been anxiously awaiting the sophomore season of the wacky politically-incorrect comedy with a heart, also known as Poor Paul, produced by Eye Scream Films. These same fans are also excited for the premiere of the Disney Channel's Princess Protection Program which happens to star Poor Paul's Kevin G. Schmidt (Young and the Restless, Cheaper by the Dozen) and Samantha Droke (Suite Life of Zack & Cody).”

A R T I C L E:

LOS ANGELES, Calif., June 22 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- Tweens, teens and adults alike have been anxiously awaiting the sophomore season of the wacky politically-incorrect comedy with a heart, also known as Poor Paul, produced by Eye Scream Films. These same fans are also excited for the premiere of the Disney Channel's Princess Protection Program which happens to star Poor Paul's Kevin G. Schmidt (Young and the Restless, Cheaper by the Dozen) and Samantha Droke (Suite Life of Zack & Cody).

Poor PaulWhy are fans of squeaky-clean Disney idols watching Poor Paul? Most likely because they're not supposed to be. Who didn't get a thrill out of sneaking into an R-Rated film as a kid? That, and the fact that Poor Paul is an intelligent, well-written and acted comedy that isn't afraid to take chances. According to Tubefilter's Lindsay Stidham: "Poor Paul's strengths undoubtedly fall in its willingness to be wacky. To that, I say wack-it-up."

YouTube user "BestFanOfMiley" said "Seriously... I can't stop laughing! I hope there will be a second season... Pleeeeease" Another, jobrosfan26 said, "Awesome videos... I've watched every single one... they are amazing... keep up the great work!" Finally, "disneychannelfan2332" posted "I love all of the characters and are you doing more episodes?"

Paul lives vicariously through his own video blog and creates hilarious fantasies to escape the stresses of real life. His roommates are the over-achieving "I'm better than everyone" Justin (Schmidt) and Clyde, the OCD womanizing alcoholic. A frequent visitor is Clyde's adopted sister Bonnie (Droke), who has a crush on Paul. Their quirky chemistry all contribute to the guilty pleasure of Poor Paul.

Poor Paul's second season has also attracted some high-profile guest stars including Guillermo Diaz (Half Baked, Chappelle Show, Weeds), Elaine Hendrix (The Parent Trap, Joan of Arcadia), Mandy Jiroux (Miley Cyrus' BFF, Miley-Mandy Show) and returning as the lovable and eccentric Grandpa Paul, character actor Richard Riehle (Office Space, Grounded for Life).

"I had so much fun doing it, I would love to do more..." said Diaz after wrapping production. On Twitter, Jiroux tweeted, "Great guys, great actors, great show!"

Poor Paul is a 2009 Webby Award Honoree and stars Kevin G. Schmidt, Samantha Droke, Wes Whitworth (who replaces Nicholas Braun in the role of Clyde) and Zack Bennett as Paul; with Palmer Scott (Tim & Eric Awesome Show, Great Job) and Poor Paul director Sean Michael Beyer as Mr. Ted.

New episodes will be released Tuesdays at 1 p.m. EDT / 10 a.m. PDT, beginning June 23, 2009 @ www.PoorPaul.com as well as YouTube.com and KoldCast.TV in HiDef.

Poor Paul is an Eye Scream Films production, written by Geoff Hoff and Steve Mancini, produced by Yousef Abu-Taleb (Lonely Girl 15) and directed by Sean Michael Beyer.

Streaming Movies, TV, and Music Industry Will Generate $78 Billion Over Six Years, says Insight Research Corp.

Author: Insight Research Corporation
Dateline: Mon, 15 Jun 2009

freeNewsArticles Story Summary: “BOONTON, N.J. (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- Streaming video and music distributed across the Internet, an IP TV network, or a mobile handset will generate more than $78 billion in network-derived and content-derived revenue into the U.S. markets over the next six years, according to a new market research study from The Insight Research Corporation. Streaming media refers to the transmission of digital audio and video files over an IP network or wireless network in real time or on-demand, while prohibiting users from storing the files locally.”

A R T I C L E:

BOONTON, N.J., June 15 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- Streaming video and music distributed across the Internet, an IP TV network, or a mobile handset will generate more than $78 billion in network-derived and content-derived revenue into the U.S. markets over the next six years, according to a new market research study from The Insight Research Corporation. Streaming media refers to the transmission of digital audio and video files over an IP network or wireless network in real time or on-demand, while prohibiting users from storing the files locally.

Insight ResearchInsight's market analysis study, "Streaming Media, IPTV, and Broadband Transport: Telecommunications Carriers and Entertainment Services 2009-2014," describes the technology and market forces underpinning the network-derived revenues generated from distributing streamed content across the public Internet, content distribution networks, cellular networks, or telco IP networks.

The study also estimates the revenue from the various types of content-derived revenues, along with associated advertising revenue. The streaming market is expected to grow at a compound annual rate of 27 percent over the next five years, driven by on-demand audio, on-demand video, and the accompanying advertising revenue.

"Over the past seven years as we've tracked the developments in streaming it has evolved from an esoteric niche to a mainstream market," says Robert Rosenberg, Insight Research president. "What we predicted way back when is coming to fruition. The advertising revenue that long supported traditional TV is gravitating to this new medium, putting downward pressure on traditional TV distribution schemes," Rosenberg concluded.

Insight's report examines the following market drivers: licensing issues, broadband Internet access, mass-market demand, and enterprise usage. Forecasts include revenues for the U.S. market by network services, including digital rights management (DRM), encoding, and performance measurement; and by content services, including advertising, music on-demand, Internet radio and video on-demand.
