Life on the Playground: It’s Not All Bullying – Season Two of ‘Recess Stories’ a Comedy for Kids Begins April 27!

Author: Beeswax Productions
Dateline: Ellsworth, Maine (ELLSWORTH, Maine)  | Fri, 27 Apr 2012

freeNewsArticles Story Summary: “Beeswax Productions is excited to announce the Second Season of 'Recess Stories,' its ground breaking online comedy series for kids about life on the playground. It's 'Peanuts' meets 'The Little Rascals' with a dash of 'Seinfeld.' Real kids. Real stories. Really funny.”

A R T I C L E:

Beeswax Productions is excited to announce the Second Season of "Recess Stories," its ground breaking online comedy series for kids about life on the playground. It's "Peanuts" meets "The Little Rascals" with a dash of "Seinfeld." Real kids. Real stories. Really funny.

About Recess Stories:

Families have more entertainment choices today than ever. And children are watching more of their media on computers and mobile devices. Parents are rushing to find games and apps for kids to use. However most children's programs are animated and fantasy based. The few live action shows that are produced are heavily styled and over acted - presenting a vision of childhood that is slick and sassy. Many parents wonder where the kids are. Surely there must be an alternative to talking animals and 8 year olds who sound like they are 18. Beeswax Productions produced "Recess Stories" to fill this void - real kids acting real stories in short, funny episodes.

"Recess Stories" presents a realistic slice of life on the playground. The girls have messy hair and mismatched socks, the boys are good with a ball but confused by everything else, and nobody can agree on the rules for anything. "Recess Stories" is the only original live action comedy series for elementary school kids online. Like Peanuts there are no adults, like Seinfeld there is no story too small, and like The Little Rascals childhood is presented in all its scrappy chaos.

Creative team Shelley Latham and Kenton Jakub started Beeswax Productions to produce children's content that shows kids as they actually are - smart, funny, imaginative, caring, resourceful and engaging.

Latham believes that Recess Stories' quirky, addictive appeal stems from the fact that all of the episodes are based on real events: "We talked to dozens of people about their experiences on the playground and everybody has a recess story to tell. What was surprising to us going into this project was that most of the 'stories' that the kids told us involved small moments - the skinned knee, the perfect flip, the day a bug flew into an open mouth, the recess spent pretending to be a dog. What children find momentous can seem trivial to an adult, we wanted Recess Stories to reflect the child's point of view."

Latham also noted that none of the stories were about bullying which suggests that all is not bad news from the playground.

This positive approach to children's programming has struck a chord with kids, their parents, and teachers who have longed for videos that are funny but real, educational but entertaining, and engaging without being hyperactive.

Season Two features nine new episodes including:
* The Bob & Fred War about boys fighting over which name is better;
* Believe It of Not about a girl who can't help stretching the truth over and over again;
* Mr. Pebbles about some boys who adopt a rock as their mascot and the girls that torment them.

All episodes are based on true stories.

"Recess Stories" was shot entirely on a playground in a small town in Maine. Each episode is a complete story lasting between 2-4 minutes long and features a rotating cast of 40 kids. In addition to streaming at www.RecessStories.com, YouTube, Vimeo, Blip and iTunes, Beeswax Productions has partnered with Yahoo!Kids for an exclusive one week premiere of Season Two episodes and has released Season One as part of the commercial free lineup on the subscription platforms for kids at AmebaTV and Kidobi.

About Beeswax Productions:

Beeswax Productions (www.BeeswaxProductions.com) is a small independent production company based in Maine that specializes in live action content for kids.

freeNewsArticles Story Summary: “Rugged and relentless stuntman and Award Winning Italian-born actor, and martial arts expert Zak Lee Guarnaccia will next appear on September 7, 2011 as the lead role, Pancho Villa on 'Deadliest Warrior season 3' on Spike TV.”

A R T I C L E:

Rugged and relentless stuntman and Award Winning Italian-born actor, and martial arts expert Zak Lee Guarnaccia will next appear on September 7, 2011 as the lead role, Pancho Villa on 'Deadliest Warrior Season 3' on Spike TV.

Pancho Villa was one of the most important Generals during the Mexican revolution; a hero to some, a villain to others, but definitely an important part of Mexican history whom no one will forget.

Zak is an Executive Producer/CEO of LightRow Pictures, which recently signed a deal to Co-produce with Bella Fe Films an animation project titled "Magnum Farce." The project, co-created by the Award Winning filmmaker, writer, director and producer Ken Mora, is a spoof of the "Dirty Harry" films starring Clint Eastwood. Zak and LightRow's other project is the action feature film, "Rules" (http://www.rulesfilm.com) which has been released in the U.S. market via self-distribution and is available at many outlets including Blockbuster, Barnes & Noble, Target, Sears, and Best Buy.

Now LightRow Pictures (http://www.lightrow.com) is ready to enter into pre-productions on one of two projects currently in development. The first is titled "The Cook and The Thief" (http://www.facebook.com/TheCookandTheThief), a fast paced slapstick action comedy written by Ken Mora. It will feature Zak Lee Guarnaccia as an Italian Jackie Chan along with a dash of an Italian attitude thrown in for spice. The second project is titled "The Next Big Hit," featuring a unique and brilliant concept of a martial arts musical comedy. Celebrities already interested in appearing in the project include; Mr. Russell Wong ("The Mummy," "Romeo Must Die" and "Joy Luck Club") and Mr. Lou Ferrigno ("The Hulk"). Zak Lee Guarnaccia is well experienced on both sides of the camera, and possesses a strong, functional understanding of how to deconstruct action, thanks to his unique and inventive vision. There is no slowing down Zak as he continues to work and collaborate as an actor, fight choreographer and stuntman in various Film and TV projects.

New Pro Sport Explodes Across Arizona as Semi-Finals Begin Airing

Author: Sky Ball League
Dateline: Los Angeles, California (LOS ANGELES, Calif.)  | Fri, 19 Aug 2011

freeNewsArticles Story Summary: “The growing popularity of Sky Ball has prompted the formation of a new pro league - the Sky Ball League. As semi-finals begin to gain the attention of sports fans across the country, Fox Sports Arizona is set to air the semi-final playoffs, which were shot in L.A., August 20 and 27 (check local listings for times) between the Tampa Dragons and the Los Angeles 405s.”

A R T I C L E:

The growing popularity of Sky Ball has prompted the formation of a new pro league - the Sky Ball League. As semi-finals begin to gain the attention of sports fans across the country, Fox Sports Arizona is set to air the semi-final playoffs, which were shot in L.A., August 20 and 27 (check local listings for times) between the Tampa Dragons and the Los Angeles 405's. The team members consist of males and females who were selected from hundreds of hopefuls to compete in the first season of this up-and-coming next generation coed sport.

The four teams that were formed and competed in the first season of Sky Ball League (www.skyballleague.com) are the Tampa Dragons, Austin Starz, Youngstown Ballers and Los Angeles 405s. The final episode in the series will feature the remaining two teams standing, who will compete in the Tournament of Champions in Los Angeles. This final smackdown determines who gets the winner's purse of $40,000.

Brian Dunkleman, one of the original co-hosts of American Idol, hosts the 16 episodes in the Sky Ball League series, which was created by Brian Kessler, who designed the Sky Ball, and sports executive Danny Swartz. "Sky Ball is an energetic combination of basketball, baseball and volleyball, with a little lacrosse thrown in," says Kessler. "The game uses Sky Balls and smash gloves and is played on a court with goals set at each end that consist of three scoring pads 12 feet to 17 feet high."

Slightly larger than a softball and constructed of a special combination of plastic and rubber material that is pumped with oxygen and helium, Sky Balls are capable of bouncing up to 75 feet. "Besides the requisite physical dexterity, the challenge to players," says Swartz, "is that they must not only excel in controlling the ball, but the skillful manipulation of a challenging piece of equipment."

"Age knows no bounds," Kessler adds. "Across the league, this season's players range between 18 and 39, and neither age nor gender has made a bit of difference on how well anyone plays."

While the first season's tryouts attracted almost a thousand hopefuls, since Sky Ball League started airing this summer, over 4,000 requests have come in for next season's tryouts. Sky Ball League expects to significantly expand the number of teams participating in 2012.

SimplyHome Debuts on First Shoot of Season Nine for Extreme Makeover: Home Edition

Author: SimplyHome
Dateline: Asheville, North Carolina (ASHEVILLE, N.C.)  | Fri, 24 Jun 2011

freeNewsArticles Story Summary: “As soon as SimplyHome was asked by the Extreme Makeover: Home Edition design team to provide some unique technology applications to support independent living for a home makeover, they loaded some trailers and vehicles and hit the road ready for action.”

A R T I C L E:

As soon as SimplyHome was asked by the Extreme Makeover: Home Edition design team to provide some unique technology applications to support independent living for a home makeover, they loaded some trailers and vehicles and hit the road ready for action.

The home is for the Keefer family of York, PA. In 2008, Brian, a star athlete and college sophomore, had a gymnastics accident that left him paralyzed from the neck down. Brian's family pulled together and his dad, Steve, retired early from the military to help his son with the activities of daily living.

As the show's design team realized the specific needs of this family, assistive technology seemed to be a solution that would really enhance Brian's independence and the family's peace of mind.

"Extreme Makeover: Home Edition called and asked us to create some of the solutions that would enable Brian to have more control over his environment - inside and outside his home," explains Ian Sanders, SimplyHome's Director of Sales.

Allen Ray, SimplyHome's CEO, reports that since their arrival, "The production crew and staff have been absolutely amazing. And the family - they are very spiritual and I have to admit I had a lump in my throat while we talked about the plans for promoting Brian's independence through our wireless technologies."

Ray adds that the house has never had fewer than 75-100 construction people working at any given time with multiple vendors working together in every category. Building inspectors are very much involved and other volunteers are available to assist as needed.

Currently, the family has a two-story Colonial home and Brian is not able to access a good portion of it. This home makeover project will ensure that life becomes easier for Brian and the rest of his family - his dad, Steve, his mom, Dawn, and his brothers; Adam, Scott and Colin.

In 2003, SimplyHome began to brainstorm about the idea of creating assistive technologies to help the elderly and people with disabilities to live more independently.

"We thought if smart home technology can be used to do things like send alarms to fire and police departments or turn lights on and off remotely, why not create outcomes using technology to support individuals' independence," says Ray. "This experience is truly an honor, especially when you're committed to helping people like we are," states Ray.

This build will launch the show's ninth season on ABC and will air this fall - the exact date is to be announced.

For more information, visit SimplyHome's blog at: http://independentlivingblog.com or the website at: www.simply-home.com .

About SimplyHome:

Located in Asheville, N.C., SimplyHome designs and installs wireless technology products to promote independent living. Aging in place and helping people with disabilities to live independently is the business's core focus. SimplyHome's support systems are individually tailored to meet specific needs and to assist care providers.

About Extreme Makeover: Home Edition:

The Emmy award-winning reality program, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, now entering its ninth season, is produced by Endemol USA, a division of Endemol Holding. Moonlite Bar-B-Q Inn Cooks Kentucky Derby Favorite with Iron Chef Bobby Flay

Author: Moonlite Bar-B-Q Inn
Dateline: Owensboro, Kentucky (OWENSBORO, Ky.)  | Fri, 06 May 2011

freeNewsArticles Story Summary: “Moonlite is no secret to lovers of burgoo and barbecue mutton, so it was just another day when NBC Sports called wanting them to cook Burgoo with Chef Bobby Flay for a Kentucky Derby Special. The Bosley Family has been cooking up Kentucky's traditional soup Burgoo at the Moonlite Bar-B-Q Inn for four generations.”

A R T I C L E:

Moonlite is no secret to lovers of burgoo and barbecue mutton, so it was just another day when NBC Sports called wanting them to cook Burgoo with Chef Bobby Flay for a Kentucky Derby Special. The Bosley Family has been cooking up Kentucky's traditional soup Burgoo at the Moonlite Bar-B-Q Inn for four generations.

The burgoo recipe became a discussion between Moonlite and Bobby Flay when he wished to put Lima Beans into the soup. While Bobby Flay added it to his version, Moonlite still contends that most cooks would never put lima beans in Burgoo; as Pit Master Benny Bosley claims, "You can put whatever you want in it, I just might not call it burgoo." The Special was filmed at Sullivan College in Louisville on May 5 and should air during the Kentucky Derby (between 4 and 5 p.m.).

The center of the burgoo universe is Owensboro, Kentucky. Owensboro is located on the Ohio River, about mid-way between Cincinnati, OH and St. Louis, MO. The largest city in western Kentucky, Owensboro is known as "The Bar-B-Q Capital of the World." This is due, in part, to the Moonlite Bar-B-Q Inn, and the world renowned International Bar-B-Q Festival held on the Riverfront the second weekend in May (May 13 and 14, 2011).

Owensboro's burgoo is a hearty soup made from mutton, chicken, and a variety of vegetables. No two cooks prepare it the same way and most keep their recipes a closely guarded secret. Burgoo is a staple at both the Moonlite and the International Bar-B-Q Festival. Moonlite also sells burgoo by mail-order on its online store http://www.moonlite.com .

Moonlite Bar-B-Q Inn seats 350 people and has been voted the best barbecue in Kentucky by: AAA, Kentucky Living, and Kentucky Monthly. The restaurant prepares about 50 gallons of burgoo a day, and barbecues between 20 and 30 thousand pounds of meat per week (about half of which is Mutton). It is Mutton (sheep) which gives burgoo its distinctive flavor. Moonlite can bring Burgoo to you. They have a renowned catering department which can handle any size group and can cater anywhere in the U.S.

SPORTS ANGELS will be a weekly hour long television show with the mandate of "kids, sports and communities in need first." It will become the latest and greatest concept of "feel good" reality television with a purpose and a strong list of take home information and messages for the viewers. Each week, Pat will create and lead a team of retired or off-season professional sports players on a mission to repair, renovate and restore sports (or sporting facilities) all over America. Big cities, small towns, and everything in between "if it's broke - they'll fix it...."

Pat rightfully believes "childhood obesity is at an all time high, yet things like an attractive soccer field, or a new basketball hoop are considered 'luxuries' in today's economy, especially in low income urban neighborhoods and communities who are facing the most severe cut backs." According to Pat, "Health isn't a luxury and we need to do whatever we can to get the next generation out of this danger zone and walking (and running) into a future of fun, health, and positive team work." Pat knows "when you build a state of the art gym - great benefits come with it such as like lower drug use, less crime, and life lessons that won't be forgotten." SPORTS ANGELS will be a new twist on Pat's "kid's first" sports and health theme and now the biggest names in athletics are ready each week to help get America's youth in shape, one field, one team and one kid at a time.

Said Southern Bleacher's Garrett Pettus, "We've had a long-term relationship with Pat Summerall, and when he asked us to be an integral part of SPORTS ANGELS inaugural event, we jumped at the opportunity. We, like Pat, believe in giving back to the communities we serve across the United States. The bleacher and picnic tables we donated today are but a small component to the overall success of this and other projects that Sports Angels champions."

Since 1946, Southern Bleacher has set the standard of excellence in design and manufacturing of sports stadiums and entertainment venues; they are the nation's largest stadium manufacturer. Southern Bleacher's comprehensive services include budget analysis, estimates, proposal drawings and specifications at no cost. NEW YORK, N.Y. /Neotrope News Network/ -- JewelryCentral, a leading retailer of engagement rings and fine jewelry has entered into an agreement with Nickelodeon to provide prizes for the ParentsConnect.com sweepstakes. Nickelodeon is the most watched television network for kids in the United States, and a division of MTV Networks and Viacom Inc. (NYSE:VIA and VIA.B). For the grand prize, one lucky contestant will receive a heart-shaped diamond and garnet necklace from Jewelry Central. The grand prize winner will also receive other lovely items. Visit www.ParentsConnect.com to enter the sweepstakes.

Jewelry Central provides consumers with a superior alternative to shopping at a traditional retail store. The company offers thousands of independently certified loose diamonds, engagement rings and fine jewelry at exceptional values. In addition to the below retail prices, shoppers enjoy the extra convenience of browsing a vast selection of jewelry in one place from the comfort of their home or office. People are comfortable purchasing luxury items on the internet, and are buying less from brick and mortar retailers.

JewelryCentral.com provides a unique, simple and enjoyable way to buy engagement rings and fine jewelry. What makes the company a success is their dedication to customer service, and ongoing improvements to their Web site. To create a tangible visual experience, the company provides multiple views of each product, which can be enlarged to show detail. By making the buying experience more realistic, the company makes it easy to make an informed purchase.

This past fall, the company introduced 3D diamond movies to create a stunning visual experience for Web site visitors. Jewelry Central gives shoppers the option of viewing a beautiful three dimensional movie when looking at an individual diamond. Reviews of this new innovative content have been very positive, indicating increased customer satisfaction.

Each presentation shows how a diamond sparkles as light enters and exits the stone, while displaying flashes of color. This new technology dominates the Web in terms of having the most visually impressive presentation of a diamond. Most all other online companies do not offer their customers 3D diamond animations.

A famous animation studio in Hollywood, California developed this new technology. Animators built computer models to reproduce the facets and proportions of each diamond shape, and then used advanced CG technology to add color and produce the finished movies. Later this year, Jewelry Central will be introducing more animated content to enhance the customer experience.
