Almost a year ago, the California Environmental Protection Agency (CAL/EPA) revised the hazardous waste regulations (Title 22) and added new training provisions and standards for handlers of universal waste; a change that affects companies throughout the State. Many companies, however, have yet to comply with the new training standards set forth by CAL/EPA.
Since universal waste includes many commonly produced waste items such as light bulbs, aerosol cans, cathode ray tubes, mercury thermostats, LCD or plasma screens, and batteries, the implications of this new regulation will be felt throughout California, as companies from many different industries work to train their employees on the latest California universal waste regulatory changes.
As with any major regulatory change, it is important to properly train facility personnel and review operational processes to assure compliance. At Lion’s workshops, students are provided the opportunity to address any questions pertaining to the new requirements.
