The mission to bring education to everyone across America took center stage last week at the Distance Education and Training Council (DETC) workshop at the Brown Palace Hotel in Denver, Colorado. The public service announcement (PSA) entitled “Think About It” was warmly received by over 100 schools in attendance. The “Think About It” concept was developed by California Intercontinental University to bring awareness to the public and this PSA is the first in a series of videos that will highlight the problems faced by students looking to access higher education amidst rising cost and other challenges.

At their semiannual event in downtown Denver, DETC executive director Mike Lambert opened the workshop by stressing the importance of making education affordable to all. Mr. Lambert said, “The dream of many people around the country is to have an education that is globally recognized and accredited.” He then went on to add, “It must be made available to everyone, at an affordable cost, and it must be convenient to the likes of our military personnel, public service professionals, working adults and executives.”

In attendance at the event was Dr. Shaan Kumar, Co-Chairman and CEO of California Intercontinental University, who remarked, “DETC schools offers quality and affordable education to working adults, in fact, graduates of DETC schools carry smaller debt loads than students graduating from other schools both traditional and for-profit.”

He then went on to say, “Minimizing the amount to finance your education provides value and higher return on your investment, and this is true for students not only in the U.S. but worldwide.” Dr. Kumar maintained that the DETC accreditation process and its compliance is the platinum standard in the industry for online education.
