The special education department of Irving ISD has decided to pilot Caselite Software with its staff of Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs) during the 2013-14 school year.
Caselite Software specializes in online intervention scheduling for special education providers, and workload analysis for school district administrators. The company was started by an SLP, to solve her scheduling needs while working in the schools. The endless hours of scheduling, re-scheduling and creating handwritten teacher views of schedules prompted her to fill a much-needed niche in the market.
“It’s difficult to schedule students for special ed interventions because their available time in the school day is so limited and they are pulled in many different directions,” stated JoAnn Wiechmann, Ed.D. CCC-SLP, Special Education Coordinator for Irving ISD. “We are hoping Caselite will help the SLPs more effectively work within the school’s time constraints, while serving students in an environment that’s conducive for progress,” Wiechmann added.
New features appearing in the most recent release of Caselite, v5, which will be in use at Irving ISD, make it easy to manage the frequent schedule changes that occur throughout the year and keep track of services delivered and missed. The system is built on the latest web-based technology that uses drag-and-drop and an interactive design. Caselite v5 also includes new workload analysis and school assignment tools that are helpful for district administrators.
Judy Rudebusch, Ed.D, CCC-SLP, Assistant Superintendent for Student Services & Federal Programs, said, “We are excited to try this software that is geared toward a workload approach and accountability.
