Live-Silver today announced that tests made by Live-Silver of Pomona, Calif. show plants grown hydroponically, as well as in soil, indicate annual plants grow to twice the height and width of control plants when 2 percent of Live-Silver's new supercharged colloidal silver is added to the standard nutrients.

"Experiments were made with tomatoes and medical marijuana. Both produced about six times the weight as well as the sinsenilla in the marijuana. The sinsenilla is the THC product growers really want," says Mr. Marvin Lee Robey, of Live-Silver. "Plants were very healthy and tomatoes had excellent flavor."

Plants raised in soil also produced over five times the weight of control plants when the plant roots were watered with one cup of electrically charged silver when the plants were ten inches high; again with two cups when 18 inches high and with three cups of the silver when two feet high. At all other times the plants were watered with ordinary well water. The plants required more room to grow, so the production per acre was increased by four times when raised hydroponically and three and a half when raised in soil.

Nutrient requirements remained about the same per weight of produce in all cases. The light required in a greenhouse increased by almost one and one-half times of that required for control plants per acre, or about half as much per pound of produce, according to Robey.

Less well documented was the apparent similar increased growth and production of green beans and peas. Tests are continuing. The strength of the electrical charge on the silver seems to be the controlling factor. The stronger the electrical charge the greater the growth. Experimenters have long known that an electrically charged wire above many plants increases their growth rate substantially.

This is hoped to greatly relieve the world food shortage. At the present time, legal marijuana growers have shown the most interest. When the buds on the female plants were sprayed with the same silver, they produced only female seed. This was said to be very important as the male plants are virtually non-productive.

These results are expected to increase the profits of the legal marijuana farms and tomato growers by at least three times and much more where the grower is restricted to the number of plants he can grow.

"Another important advantage was that fungus and algae were eliminated from the hydroponic piping, keeping the water flowing freely and eliminating the use of dangerous fungicides on all hydroponic plants," concluded Robey.

Orange County Produce, LLC and the Orange County Great Park in Irvine, Calif., continues its "Parks without Borders" program by offering fresh food to Orange County's local food banks and soup kitchens. Orange County Produce is growing food on the four-acre VALOR Field at the Orange County Great Park in Irvine, to support this effort.

On most weekends, a group of volunteers are invited to harvest all they can to prepare and deliver fresh fruits and vegetables to those they serve.

"In the United States, on average 30 to 40 percent of the food grown goes uneaten each year," said Tom Larson, Manager of Farm, Food & Landscape Division for the Orange County Great Park. "With Orange County's long history in agriculture, we are taking a leadership role in developing ways to reduce waste."

"The wonderful partnership with the Great Park VALOR Program, Orange County Produce, LLC and our food security friends at Second Harvest Food Bank, Community Action Partnership of Orange County and Loaves & Fishes allows us to deliver freshly harvested fruits and vegetables to those in need. We appreciate the hard working volunteers who gathered over 10,000 lbs of vine ripe watermelons last Saturday," said A.G. Kawamura.

Robert Flournoy, president of Loaves And Fishes x10, has been gleaning regularly at the Great Park for more than three years. He began his journey fighting hunger when he made a commitment to help support seven homeless people in Tustin, Calif. Today, his organization has gleaned thousands of pounds of food and delivered it to help those in need in low-income communities.

Gleaners also harvest from Orange County Produce's 105-acre organic farm at the Orange County Great Park.

The Kawamura family, who founded Orange County Produce, has been growing fruits and vegetables in Orange County for over half a century. Guided by third-generation family members A.G. and Matt Kawamura, Orange County Produce farms more than 800 acres within the urban boundaries of Orange County. A.G. Kawamura, California Secretary of Agriculture from 2003-2010, is engaged in many projects to increase efficiencies and reduce waste within our agricultural system including a new program, Solutions From the Land Dialogue (sfldialogue.net), supported by United Nations Foundation, the Farm Foundation and the Nature Conservancy.

"California is one of the largest agricultural economies in the world," said Kawamura. "We are committed to continuing the legacy of farming in Orange County and that is why we are making efforts to provide fresh, high-quality produce to the local food banks using the VALOR Field at the Great Park."

The VALOR Field (Veteran's Agricultural Learning - Opportunities and Resources) is the site of a fledgling program to provide education and hands-on experience to veterans in preparation for employment within the farm to table industry. OC Produce and local partners have collaborated on this field, growing tomatoes and numerous other crops, and donating the produce.

"Orange County Produce and Alegria Fresh are volunteering services and resources to manage and care for the VALOR field, contributing a tremendous amount of energy, labor and skill for this very important community service," said Larson.

EnviroIngenuity, through its food division Alegria Fresh, a Laguna Beach-based hydroponic vertical farming company, assists Orange County Produce with management and production on the VALOR Field. In partnership with Kawamura, Alegria Fresh is completing construction of a new demonstration farm designed to showcase high performance urban agriculture and test new growing systems that may be applied to commercial agriculture. Alegria's hydroponic vertical farm is solar powered and uses no soil, 90 percent less water, 70 percent less land and 50 percent less fertilizer than traditional farming methods.

"We are proud to partner with the Kawamura family to support their vision for a more sustainable future and are especially proud to assist OC Produce in its efforts to reduce waste and deliver fresh, locally grown produce to the hungry in Orange County," said Erik Cutter, Managing Director of Alegria Fresh. "We are testing new technologies to improve urban farming processes to meet the great challenges facing our food production and distribution systems."

EnviroIngenuity today announced its offering of hydroponic vertical gardens for use at home. The beautiful stackable garden systems make it easy to grow delicious, nutritious, non-toxic food at home using limited space and reducing use of natural resources. These resource-efficient hydroponic tower systems for nutritious produce are available at Laguna Gardens Nursery.

"Imagine being able to pick fresh, healthy greens and vegetables for every meal without leaving home," says EnviroIngenuity founder Erik Cutter. "Freshly picked food contains up to 10 times more nutrients because it hasn't traveled 4-5 days to get to your dinner table. Access to nutritious, healing foods has never been easier."

The EnviroIngenuity Vertical Gardens are customized with a large base pot to match decor. Each tower has up to eight stacking planters, which are available in three colors. One tower can accommodate up to 52 plants, with six plants per planter and four in the base pot. All plants are grown in coir (ground coconut husks) and watered with a hydroponic nutrient solution made from organically derived minerals. This system uses 90 percent less water, 50 percent less fertilizer, and 70 percent less land without using toxic pesticides. Even with these large resource savings, it grows plants three times faster.

EnviroIngenuity Vertical Gardens come fully equipped, ready to grow healthy greens, vegetables, herbs and fruits. The single-tower hydroponic Vertical Garden system can be placed anywhere there is sufficient light, including balconies, decks and patios, or installed as vertical gardens in an existing raised-bed garden. The Vertical Garden can be moved easily, and the pots can be removed and taken inside should weather conditions become severe. Maintenance and replanting is simple, just remove the pots, recycle the coir and replant with new seedlings.

EnviroIngenuity Vertical Garden Systems produce nutrient-rich food far superior to that found at any local supermarket.

EnviroIngenuity Vertical Gardens are now available to home gardeners through Laguna Gardens Nursery at 21065 Raquel Rd, Laguna Beach, CA 92651, just off of Laguna Canyon Road on the ocean side of the Dog Park. They can be purchased ready to install and are fully customizable. Prices start at $140, unplanted. Complete planting services are available with a wide selection of seedlings for an additional fee. Alegria Fresh to Present at Foodprint LA

Author: Alegria Farm
Dateline: Laguna Beach, California (LAGUNA BEACH, Calif.)  | Wed, 28 Nov 2012

freeNewsArticles Story Summary: “On Sunday December 9, Erik Cutter, Managing Director of Alegria Fresh, will speak at Foodprint LA as an expert panelist about innovative ideas for the future of food production within dense urban environments.”

A R T I C L E:

On Sunday December 9, Erik Cutter, Managing Director of Alegria Fresh, will speak at Foodprint LA as an expert panelist about innovative ideas for the future of food production within dense urban environments.

Foodprint LA is the fourth in a series of international conversations about urban food systems. This one-day conference will take place in the Brown Auditorium at the Los Angeles Museum of Art (LACMA) from 12:30 to 5:00 p.m. The Foodprint Project, an event series that explores ways food and cities give shape to one another, is coordinating the conference.

The Foodprint Project was co-founded in 2010 by writer and editor Sarah Rich and blogger Nicola Twilley as a collaborative exploration of urban food systems. Its goal is to bring together people with diverse backgrounds and expertise to start a conversation about using food as a design tool to make cities more resilient, sustainable, and healthy.

The Foodprint LA conference on December 9 will bring together a diverse range of LA-based panelists who develop innovative solutions to food-related issues. Mr. Cutter will share his knowledge about Alegria Fresh's forward-thinking process that employs hydroponic vertical farming methods to produce food with superior nutrition and resource efficiency. The first of its kind on the west coast, Alegria Fresh's model is a solution to many future food problems within our cities. Leafy greens and medicinal herbs produced at the farm pack five to six times the nutritional content of any produce available in supermarkets. Furthermore, its model excels in urban areas, which reduces the need for oil consuming transportation.

"Our Verti-Gro system uses no soil, 90 percent less water, 50 percent less fertilizer, 70 percent less land, and we are able to produce food much faster than traditional farming methods," explains Mr. Cutter. "Our hi-performance agriculture processes address critical problems our cities face today. We are building these systems in densely packed urban areas to meet these growing needs."

About Alegria Farm:

Alegria Farm is a new commercial hydroponic vertical farm employing over 170 hydroponic towers growing over 10,000 plants in less than 1/20th acre. Alegria Farm is Orange County's first hydroponic vertical farm and the first West Coast showcase for the Verti-Gro(r) system, which uses no soil, 90 percent less water, 70 percent less land, 50 percent less fertilizer than traditional organic farming and zero toxic pesticides. This high performance growing system produces clean, natural food faster than traditional farming and allows plants to grow bigger and stronger, making plants naturally pest resistant.

Alegria Farmacy Keeps Its Clients Young and Healthy

Author: Alegria Farm
Dateline: Laguna Beach, California (LAGUNA BEACH, Calif.)  | Thu, 08 Nov 2012

freeNewsArticles Story Summary: “'This food will keep you alive and vital, and I am living proof,' says Francis Lingel, a 90-year young veteran who has joined Alegria Farm's team to assist with farm tours. 'Fresh greens are the secret to longevity,' he adds.”

A R T I C L E:

"This food will keep you alive and vital, and I am living proof," says Francis Lingel, a 90-year young veteran who has joined Alegria Farm's team to assist with farm tours. "Fresh greens are the secret to longevity," he adds. Alegria Farm, Orange County's first urban hydroponic vertical farm, produces leafy greens and medicinal herbs that are delivered within an hour of harvest.

Alegria's high performance urban farming method produces food that contains on average four to five times the nutritional content of any food found in supermarkets.

In July this year, Francis stomped into Alegria Farm and asked the team to guess his age. Followed by a series of replies averaging between 65 and 75, he proudly let everyone know that he'd be celebrating his 90th birthday shortly.

Needing no cane, no walker and a light bounce in his step, Francis informed the Alegria team that eating freshly harvested locally-grown fruits and vegetables was the key to his health and vitality.

"I am still a very young fellow at heart," says Francis.

Thirty-three years ago, doctors wanted to perform angioplasty on Francis because he had a 95 percent blockage in his lower descending artery. Angioplasty is a procedure used to open narrow or blocked coronary arteries and is generally not a permanent solution. He refused the procedure and decided to try a diet of natural plant based foods.

After years of skepticism about diets and convinced that as long as his weight wasn't fluctuating he could continue to eat anything, Francis gave in to his vegan daughter's urging and investigated the teachings of Dr. John McDougall (www.drmcdougall.com) and Dr. Michael Greger (www.nutritionfacts.org), well-known authors and leaders in health and prevention.

"I learned how to eat to fuel my body and my health through a diet rich in freshly harvested greens, veggies, fruits and nuts," said Francis. "Dr. Gregor's blog states that hydroponic plants have more minerals and vitamins and that is why I found Alegria Fresh. Their superior nutrient-rich produce gives me a powerful fresh start. Their produce can heal others who are willing to give it a try."

Following a whole food, plant-based diet and now completely healed of his heart disease, Francis Lingel joins the Alegria Fresh team working as a volunteer relating his real-life "longevity" testimonial to all those who will listen. Francis lives in San Juan Capistrano, Calif., and visits the farm regularly to pick up his fresh greens and herbs.

Sustainable Teachers Delegation from Sweden tours Alegria Farm to learn about Disease-Preventing Food and High-Efficiency Hydroponic Vertical Farming

Author: Alegria Farm

freeNewsArticles Story Summary: “A Swedish delegation of Sustainable Teachers toured Alegria Farm to learn about its new high efficiency farming process and find out about the disease fighting food being grown and delivered by Alegria Fresh. Alegria's innovative new farming method employs the Verti-Gro System.”

A R T I C L E:

A Swedish delegation of Sustainable Teachers toured Alegria Farm to learn about its new high efficiency farming process and find out about the disease fighting food being grown and delivered by Alegria Fresh. Learning about Alegria's innovative new farming method that employs the Verti-Gro(R) System provided the delegation with knowledge about how to grow food that is four times as nutrient rich as that which one can buy in the store.

Seven teachers from Sweden visited to share their work in sustainability along with three staff from the PEAK program (Promoting Energy Action and Knowledge) and teachers from St. Mary's School, an International Baccalaureate School located in Aliso Viejo.

Alegria Farm, pioneering the concept of high-performance urban agriculture, grows greens superior in nutrition using 90 percent less water, 50 percent less fertilizer, 70 percent less land and zero toxic pesticides - while delivering 10 times the yield of traditional organic row farming. Cutter explained the numerous health benefits of consuming locally grown food close to its time of harvest.

"Our goal is to educate people about the tremendous health benefits achieved by consuming fresh greens very close to the time of harvest, which on average are four to five times more nutrient rich than the 4-day+ old produce you purchase at the market," said Cutter. "If you believe what Hippocrates said nearly 3,000 years ago that food is medicine, then you will understand why we call Alegria Farm the Green Farmacy."

St. Mary's school launched an elective program for its students driven by education in sustainable development, specifically Promoting Energy Action and Knowledge (PEAK). Course activities included collaboration with students in Nacka, Sweden. Through science labs and applied activities, eighth grade students discovered and practiced energy solutions to ensure a healthy and sustainable future.

"Alegria Fresh is an example of an out-of-the-box way to utilize resource efficient systems that mitigate soil, energy and water shortages, and that is what we are interested in teaching the next generation about," said Erin Bratcher, a teacher at St Mary's School who leads this program. "Understanding how and what to eat to receive maximum nutrition, fight disease and be healthy is crucial to our youth."

EnviroIngenuity Brings Energy Efficient Vertical Farming Process and Locally-Grown Food to Laguna Beach

Author: EnviroIngenuity
Dateline: Laguna Beach, California (LAGUNA BEACH, Calif.)  | Mon, 20 Aug 2012

freeNewsArticles Story Summary: “Local entrepreneur Erik Cutter has bought the farm - literally. EnviroIngenuity today announced the phase one completion of Alegria Farm, Orange County's first hydroponic vertical farm. Engaged in the promotion of sustainable technologies, EnviroIngenuity has brought a new farming system to the west coast.”

A R T I C L E:

Local entrepreneur Erik Cutter has bought the farm - literally. EnviroIngenuity today announced the phase one completion of Alegria Farm, Orange County's first hydroponic vertical farm. Engaged in the promotion of sustainable technologies, EnviroIngenuity has brought a new farming system to the west coast.

It wasn't enough for Cutter to develop and sell a successful automotive design company, publish Baja Life Magazine for 15 years, operate a marketing and web design firm, and sell high-end resort properties. This Laguna Beach-based entrepreneur turned his latest hobby - growing food - into his latest venture.

Alegria Farm is located on 1/4 acre in Laguna Canyon. Today, more than 7,000 plants are growing in 120 vertical towers producing an exotic tasting variety of leafy greens, medicinal herbs and heirloom vegetables. And the farm is still expanding.

Alegria Farm utilizes the Verti-Gro(R) hydroponic system, a futuristic farming technique featured at the Epcot(R) theme park at Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida for last 16 years. The commercial system uses stacked pots with nutrients and water automatically dripped through the plant's root system. Plants grow using 90 percent less water, 50 percent less fertilizer, 70 percent less land and zero toxic pesticides - all while delivering 10 times the yield of traditional organic farming.

Hydroponic farming is soilless and utilizes coconut fiber instead of organic soil, which virtually eliminates pesticide usage to produce stronger plants that are substantially more nutrient-rich.

"We have nicknamed Alegria Farm 'the farmacy' because - aside from being delicious - the raw, natural food we are growing is super rich in enzymes, nutrients and phytochemicals. Dense nutrients remain intact in our food when it is consumed close to the time it is harvested. The high-yield, non-toxic nature of the Verti-Gro(R) system makes it easy to farm within the city limits so we can deliver the freshest produce possible. Our short delivery time has resulted in our new phrase, 'Farm to Table in Minutes,'" said Cutter. With an education in biochemistry and oncology and an avid researcher of health and nutrition, Cutter hopes to alter the way food is perceived and teach people how important it is to know where your food comes from.

"If you agree with Hippocrates, 'Let thy food be thy medicine,' then let Alegria Farm be your Farmacy," says Cutter.

In addition to creating access to locally-grown, highly nutritious, pesticide-free greens and vegetables, Alegria Farm is creating jobs for young people through its subscriber-based produce delivery service, Alegria Fresh.

"Instead of a paper route, we will hire young people to handle our produce route," said Cutter. "Subscribers to our home delivery produce route will receive a beautifully arranged bouquet of produce once, twice or three times each week," Cutter said. "Picked fresh the same day, these bouquets provide nature's most powerful bioavailable vitamins, minerals, enzymes and disease-fighting phytonutrients."

The company is currently seeking applicants for its produce route.

"Orange County has transformed from an agricultural to a dense urban mecca, so far less space is available to farmers making vertical farming a great solution to increase access to healthy food and reduce impact on the environment," Cutter added.
