The newly issued U.S. Patent No. 7,849,321, titled "Authentication method of random partial digitized path recognition with a challenge built into the path" adds to Authernative's array of authentication methods based on random partial pattern recognition algorithms. It advances the security of Authernative's pattern based one-time PIN technology to provide a "what user knows" two-credential authentication.

With Authernative's Passline® pattern-based one-time PIN solution, the user's credential is a secret pattern on a virtual grid of cells. During each login session, the digital content on the grid is randomized and the user is challenged to enter the content from the randomly specified set of positions of his pattern. The newly patented Crossline™ technology extends the above method by concealing the location of the challenge inside the grid as a second "what user knows" secret credential. The combination of two secret credentials on the grid having randomized content, used to generate a one-time response, surpasses the security of one-time PIN tokens.

Value Recovery, Inc. announced today that Guadalupe Cooling of Nipomo, CA has obtained a license to use Value Recovery's methyl bromide emissions control technology for its new Quarantine and Pre-shipment fumigation operation. The facility will be constructed by Controlled Environments Construction of Tustin, CA who are major US building contractors in the agricultural sector.

Value Recovery has developed and patented a technology for the environmentally friendly chemical destruction of methyl bromide after fumigations. Value Recovery's methyl bromide emissions control technology works by forcing the air stream containing methyl bromide into an aqueous thiosulfate solution prior to releasing the air into the atmosphere. This "chemical scrubbing" method not only protects the ozone layer in the upper atmosphere but also protects workers and bystanders.

The technology is comprehensive, chemically destroying over 90% of the methyl bromide released from a fumigation facility while producing no hazardous byproducts. The company plans to raise the destruction level to 95% within three years.

Value Recovery's technology has been granted the status of Best Available Control Technology (BACT) and is becoming recognized as the most economic and environmentally acceptable method for the continued use of methyl bromide.

Current Quarantine and Pre-shipment operations in ports around the US vent hundreds of thousands of pounds of methyl bromide directly into the atmosphere without any emissions controls. Under the US Clean Air Act, new sources of methyl bromide and other hazardous pollutants must evaluate emissions control technology before they can operate. This stand-alone building features a brand-new 3600 Watt Trumpf TruLaser 7000 laser tube cutting system, a 3000 watt Trumpf Tubematic 5000 system, raw material storage and a 10 ton overhead crane to make the transfer of materials fast and easy throughout the entire facility. Custom tube fabricating services at Ohio Laser include CNC tube bending, robotic tube welding, machining and manual welding to process all types of tubes, pipes and other metal components.

The facility offers manufacturers tube cutting of outside dimensions between 0.6-inch through 8-inch square tubes and 10-inch round tubes. International Document Services (IDS), a mortgage document preparation vendor, announced it has begun to phase out the Home Valuation Code of Conduct (HVCC) in response to an October 15 directive from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac stating that the HVCC will no longer be the standard bearer for the protection of the home appraisal process beginning in 2011.

According to the October 15 announcement, lenders must represent and warrant that "any appraisal conducted in connection with a single-family mortgage loan delivered to Fannie Mae, with an application date on or after the day of the announcement, conforms to the Appraiser Independence Requirements."

The Appraiser Independence Requirements states, "[The] seller shall ensure that the Borrower is provided a copy of any appraisal ... no less than three days prior to the closing of the Mortgage. The Borrower may waive this three-day requirement if such waiver is obtained at least three days prior to the closing of the mortgage."

To comply with this request, IDS will provide disclosure forms that mirror the Appraiser Independence Requirements. The form, titled "Appraiser Independence Requirements: Appraisal Acknowledgment," will be included in the closing document package to simplify the document delivery process. The form requires the lender's endorsement and not the borrower's, which enables the lender to meet the standard of proof as required by the Appraiser Independence Requirements.
