Soul Singer-Songwriter KEA MICHAELS Presents Debut Music Video for Poignant Ballad ‘I Love You’

PITTSBURGH, Pa. -- One inspired night in 2015, singer/songwriter Kea Michaels sat down to write a poem like a lullaby entitled "I Love You" for one of her daughters...heartfelt prose enriched with motherly adoration. She later turned that poem into a song thinking about an older daughter that had been battling, since birth, kidney hydronephrosis. KEA thought she was about to lose her to the debilitating disorder.

When the opportunity presented itself, KEA recorded "I Love You" and independently released it to the world on July 28, 2017 as her debut single. Produced by acclaimed musician Dwayne Fulton, Minister of Music at Mount Ararat Baptist Church in KEA's hometown of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, "I Love You" garnered both local and some national internet radio attention plus profound international support the BBC and Radiovolna.

Now, just in time for the winter holidays of 2018, KEA is releasing a deeply touching state-of-the-art music video for her blossoming message song of devotion. Shot in high definition 4K, "I Love You" is a richly detailed lifestyle video about a woman choosing her daughter's love over the weak promises of a non-committal man.

Torn from the pages of her own life and love struggles, the song's video storyline was inspired by the years KEA placed romance on the backburner to laser focus on her daughter's wellness -- shifting from medicinal to holistic treatments, specialists, surgeries, procedures, diets, supplements and lifestyle programs...all the while clinging to hope and faith.

"My purpose is to be an inspiration of hope and change by using real life experiences to relay a message," says KEA. "However not all messages have great endings, because some are good and others may be difficult."

"I Love You" the video was directed and edited by Deon Smalley (Smalley Films) from a treatment written by KEA who also cast the clip plus handled all of the production and costume design (yes, where appropriate, her wardrobe is stellar and stylish). It was important to KEA to have key locations around Pittsburgh serve as backdrops, including Andrew Carnegie Free Library and Music Hall, Airbnb Historic Day House and Dorsey's Records shop.

Most poignantly, KEA and her two real life daughters Auhneyah (6) and Alyssa (16) [playing one child over a 10-year span], solidifying the intimate single parent family portrait of unshakable love between a mother and daughter. It is KEA's hope that song and video touch hearts and minds around the globe.

Kea Michaels ("KEA") is a Soul singer traversing today's Urban Adult Contemporary (UAC) broadcast terrain. Growing up in Pittsburgh a creatives chameleon of poetry and books, as well as a sketch artist, her love for singing blossomed following piano and vocal training from Elayne Kitay as well as at the local Jazz Workshop.

Using her stage name KEA, she has been singing locally since 2009 at events and venues such as the Channel 11 News Holiday Parade, Stars at Riverview Jazz Series, The Birthright of Pittsburgh, Explore East Liberty 2018 Wine Festival, the Harambe Black Arts Festival, the Christine Fréchard Gallery, and the Carnegie Arts Initiative (Jazz On 3rd).

"I Love You" is the debut single/video of KEA from a 6-song EP entitled "Relationships," slated for release in 2019. A second single is being prepared for spring in advance of the EP.

Studco’s Vortex High Performance Framing System Eliminates Creaking in Tall Buildings

WEBSTER, N.Y. -- Tall buildings, much like tall trees, sway in windy conditions, says Studco Building Systems. This is caused by a phenomenon known as vortex shedding. Vortex shedding occurs when wind runs into a tall building and the wind is "split" into two separate air streams around the building.

This generates areas of low pressure on the opposite side of the building, which creates a suction-effect that causes the building to sway. And when that building sways, it creaks. Some buildings can generate creaking sounds up to 70 decibels (dB). This is louder than a conversation in a restaurant or office, and can be as loud as a running vacuum cleaner. This keeps apartment residents awake at night, and terrifies unsuspecting hotel guests.

Creaking has been a problem in tall buildings for a long time, but the specific causes of the creaking were unknown. So, Studco led an in-depth two-year research project that analyzed global wind studies and performed field investigations within buildings that had known noise problems. This led to the discovery that the head track in the steel stud wall system was not fit for purpose when fixing to an uneven surface: the head track becomes deformed as it follows the contours of the substrate's uneven surface, putting tension on the profile as a result of elastic buckling, and in some extreme cases, plastic deformation occurs when the track becomes creased and permanently damaged. As the building vibrates and sways in a cyclical pattern with the wind, the tension in the track causes an irritating creaking noise.

Studco's engineers designed the Vortex High Performance Framing System specifically to address the variable surfaces of modern concrete structure and the stresses and tension that tall buildings experience in high winds. This lightweight steel framing system reduces stress and tension from the building's internal framing by using features such as rigid beams which increases stiffness and resists buckling, anti-tension kerfs which limits deformation where the substrate is extremely uneven, and isolation clips to eliminate metal-on-metal contact at the bases of wall studs, door jambs and ceiling wall track sections. These are just a few of the features that significantly reduce the creaking sound in tall buildings, and that lead to positive experiences for the residents and guests within them.

"Our apartment creaked a lot before. We replaced the walls with the Vortex system from Studco and the problem has disappeared," said S. Volker, Melbourne, Australia.

Studco continues to monitor the performance of the Vortex High Performance Framing System and makes improvements based on the data they gather. Resilmount Provides Reference Sheet for Sound Isolation in Multi-Family Developments

WEBSTER, N.Y. -- One of the biggest issues that any landlord has to deal with are sound complaints between tenants in an apartment complex or other multi-family developments, says Resilmount. Most sound is generated by direct contact between the building structure and the wall and ceiling systems. If there is nothing to break up the structural and airborne sound vibrations, the sound is easily transmitted between different dwellings or complexes.

This is a problem that a dynamic team of professionals at Resilmount, has been working on for years. Resilmount has earned a reputation as an industry leader by constantly developing new ideas and providing revolutionary solutions for the building industry.

Here are some of the innovative sound isolation solutions that Resilmount has developed over the years:

Resilmount's Patented Thermoplastic Rubber - This is the core of Resilmount's sound isolation products. The thermoplastic rubber outperforms standard rubber because of its unique natural absorbing characteristics and its ability last longer than any form of natural rubber. Resilmount's unique sound cell design guards against structure borne vibrations transferring into the body of the clips and mounts because of its strong column design reducing the percentage of contact surface area with the structure or substrate it is fastened to. This aids in absorbing vibration and breaking up airborne sound at its transfer point.

Direct Fix Furring Channel Mount - This mount decouples the gypsum board from the framing or structure to reduce airborne sound vibrations as well as impact insulation class (IIC) vibrations. These can be used in both walls and ceilings. Keeping the framing and the gypsum board out of direct contact with the structure reduces the sound vibration transfer that is generated by that interaction.

Resilient Isolation Hanger - These provide support for-and sound isolation of-internal suspended ceiling systems and acoustical ceilings. This isolates the ceiling system from the structure which reduces both structure and airborne noise.

These are just a few of the sound isolation products available from Resilmount. Resilmount has a variety of different sound isolation clips, resilient mount clips, sound isolation hangers and other soundproofing materials available to meet your project's specific needs.

For more information about Resilmount's sound isolation products for apartments and other multi-family developments, give us a call at 1-800-675-8023, email us at sales@resilmount.com or fill out our online contact form today at https://www.resilmount.com/contact-us/

About Resilmount:

Developed by Studco Building Systems, Resilmount focuses on providing cutting edge sound-isolation systems for the construction and building industries. Resilmount's sound isolation products provide air borne and structure borne noise control for buildings such as apartments, hotels, retail and professional spaces, and much more.

Dedicated to continuous development of innovative sound solutions, Resilmount strives to work closely with the project team to provide the best solutions and be sure that our products perform to the highest standards per the development's or building's needs.

With Resilmount products precision manufactured by us at Studco Building Systems, we have complete control over the quality and the standard of material used within each individual sound isolation clip. Our quest for optimum quality is continuous, pushing our sound isolation clips and hangers to extremes through continuous third-party fire testing and sound testing you can be sure that they will meet or exceed the architectural specifications required.

Robert Golan, PC Overturns Judge’s Ruling and Restores Benefits to Injured Worker

PLAINVIEW, N.Y. -- Robert Golan, PC, a worker's compensation lawyer serving the areas of Long Island, Nassau County, Queens and Suffolk County, recently settled a $250,000 case for a union carpenter who hurt his back at work in 2016. A misunderstanding over the definition of "work" caused the Judge to suspend the $800 per week monetary benefits to that worker and his family.

At most Workers Compensation hearings, before monetary awards are made to an injured worker, the attorney for the insurance company routinely asks the worker if he has done any "work" since the last hearing or since his accident. "Work" to the court is defined as any activity that could be considered to be "work" such as bartering your services, volunteering your services, helping out a friend or family member with a business, working on the books, off the books, etc. Attorneys routinely inform the client of this definition before asking the client about work.

In this case, instead of the insurance company attorney asking the client, the Judge questioned the injured carpenter about work, but did not explain what the word "work" meant.

The carpenter answered "no" to the question, because most blue-collar workers define "work" as going to a job and getting a paycheck. Later, when the carpenter told the Judge, as required, that he had been helping his wife with her organic farm business, the Judge accused the carpenter of hiding his "work activity" from her and suspended the $800 per week workers compensation benefits that supported him and his family, and set a trial date for him to testify in detail about what he does to help his wife with her business.

The carpenter stated that had he known that "work" included volunteering his services to his wife, he surely would have told her about it up front.

"Even Judges make mistakes, but when they do it has an enormous impact on an injured worker who relies on them until that worker is able to go back to work," said Mr. Golan, a worker's compensation attorney with Golan & Masiakos, LLP.

Mr. Golan appealed the Judge's actions and was successful in getting the Decision overturned and restored the carpenter's $800 per week workers comp benefits.
