A R T I C L E:

Most people don't associate plumbing with food, but they may not know about KC's 23 1/2 Hour Plumbing Inc. This week, the company announced that it has collected more than one ton of food and will continue to collect food from its clients for people in need, year round.

This first ton is ready to be distributed and KC's hopes to continue to make one-ton donations throughout the year.

"It's not just about donating food during the holidays," says Kelly Russum, president, KC's 23 1/2 Hour Plumbing Inc. "Feeding the community takes a year-round commitment."

KC's has always been involved in giving back to the community at some level. It has worked on breast awareness and AIDS campaigns and much more, but feeding the community is something that is made possible by its clients.

And, KC's makes it easy for its clients and even non-clients to donate food through the following methods: KC's will pick it up; clients may give food to the plumbing technicians who visit their home; or people may drop off food at their office location at 702 Eugene Road in Palm Springs, CA.

Russum adds that, "Our goal is to make feeding the community as easy as possible. For instance, if a person sees one of our service trucks, they can simply stop by and give the driver some food. It's that easy."

The staff at KC's takes care of boxing and delivering to local churches and charities that distribute the food as needed.

"While plumbing is our business, we want to be known as the 'food drive people,'" says Russum. "It's important for people to take charge and providing food for people who need it makes our clients feel good too. Everyone wins."

About KC's 23 1/2 Hour Plumbing Inc.:

In business for 30 years, KC's 23 1/2 Hour Plumbing Inc. is a full-service plumbing contractor that services and installs complete plumbing systems. The company provides 24-hour emergency service, seven days per week.

Its motto says it all: "We're the good guys your friends told you about."

Milgard Windows Provides Comfort, Efficiency for OC Emergency Shelter

Author: Milgard Windows and Doors
Dateline: Ladera Ranch, California (LADERA RANCH, Calif.)  | Fri, 17 Jun 2011

freeNewsArticles Story Summary: “Laura's House, an emergency shelter for women and children fleeing domestic violence, will now enjoy the benefits of new energy efficient windows thanks to support from Milgard Windows & Doors and Walker Windows.”

A R T I C L E:

Laura's House, an emergency shelter for women and children fleeing domestic violence, will now enjoy the benefits of new energy efficient windows thanks to support from Milgard Windows & Doors and Walker Windows.

The Orange County nonprofit shelter, established in 1994, seeks to change social behaviors, attitudes and behaviors that perpetuate domestic violence, while creating a safe place in which to empower individuals and families affected by abuse. In the last decade, the organization has seen the demand for its services rise dramatically, which has impacted its ability to meet this growing need through its existing shelter facilities. This is where the contribution from Milgard plays a pivotal role. The company partnered with Walker Windows on the project.

"We've been happy to have the opportunity to work closely with William Hezmalhalch Architects, Walker Windows and Laura's House to the benefit of the families who rely on this valuable community service," said Mark Yeandle, General Manager of Milgard Windows & Doors. "As a local business, we feel it is part of our responsibility to assist our friends and neighbors in any way possible."

The new energy efficient Milgard windows will provide security and cut operational costs for Laura's House, allowing the organization to use the money it saves to provide services for more families in need. This is particularly important in an uncertain economic climate, when energy savings are beneficial for both the environment and building inhabitants.

"We appreciate the contribution from Milgard and Walker Windows," said Margaret Bayston, CEO and Executive Director, Laura's House. "For many years now, this project has been a dream for our organization, and we are grateful to all of the individuals and businesses who are committing both their time and financial resources to make this dream a reality." Laura's House is also proud to partner with HomeAid Orange County on the Emergency Shelter Rebuild Project, and the expansion of our Step-Ahead Housing program for shelter graduates.

Milgard Windows & Doors has regularly given back to the community, and even has a team dedicated to endeavors such as these.

"Our Milgard Community Action Team works hard to propose and organize investments in our community," Yeandle said. "We regularly support charity events such as the MS Walk, Race for the Cure and Daffodil Days for Cancer Research. Giving back to our community is an important part of our company's philosophy."

Milgard Windows & Doors is a Masco-owned company based in Tacoma, Wash., offering a full line of aluminum, vinyl and fiberglass windows and patio doors for builders, dealers and homeowners. For more information, visit http://www.milgard.com or call 1-800-MILGARD.

A R T I C L E:

Mueller, Inc., a leading manufacturer of steel buildings and residential metal roofing, wants to extend a helping hand again this year to a Texas non-profit in need of a new facility. The campaign is called "Helping Hands." One organization will be selected to receive a new Mueller steel building up to 4,000 square feet through applications received by June 1, 2011.

Because of today's economic environment, Mueller wants to give something back to a struggling organization that always gives to others, whether it is a food bank facility, a volunteer firehouse, or maybe a senior citizen center. Upon making the announcement, Mike Fry, director of marketing for Mueller said, "We are very supportive of the hard working non-profits in Texas and during these tough times, we want to do our share of giving back by offering a helping hand to one of these deserving organizations."

For the third straight year, Mueller is teaming up with the popular television series, "Texas Country Reporter" with Bob Phillips to publicize this offering. Viewers of the program representing non-profit organizations will be invited to write in and explain why their organization is worthy of receiving a Mueller steel building. The winner will be announced on the television show this fall.

Last year's "Helping Hands" recipient was the City of Buckholts and surrounding areas. The campaign built a brand new home for the Buckholts Volunteer Fire Department.

For complete contest rules and entry form visit www.texascountryreporter.com and click on "Helping Hand." A complete listing of the days and times the show airs in cities across Texas is also on the program's web site.

"This PR Grant program is our way of supporting some of the numerous smaller organizations we feel need ongoing help to 'get the word out' about their worthwhile efforts," said Neotrope CEO and co-founder, Christopher Simmons. "Many smaller non-profits have been suffering from lower revenues the past couple of years, due to the economy and less visibility than some of the larger charities with Fortune 500 sponsors; and it's been harder than ever for these orgs to raise awareness. We've always taken corporate social responsibility very seriously, and we decided many years ago that it was better to use our expertise to help these causes versus simply writing them a small donation check."

Neotrope, and its service division Send2Press Newswire (www.Send2Press.com), have previously sponsored art benefits contributing to aid efforts for the homeless in Chicago, groups providing environmentally sustainable housing in areas of the world where disaster has left people without adequate shelter; and to orgs who raise money for AIDS orphans.

Non-profit organizations may apply for free services starting January 7th, through February 10th, 2011. Organizations will be selected as applications are received, and the amount donated to each selected non-profit will vary, but typically $3600 in services per recipient (this is not a cash grant). Three of the grants will be provided to California-based non-profits, who will receive additional promotional assistance through California Newswire®. Additionally, all 501(c)(3) organizations automatically qualify for a 28% service discount.

The 2011 Neotrope PR Grant application can be found at http://www.Send2Press.com/non-profit/index.shtml .

Past recipients of the PR grant program include Children Awaiting Parents, Girls Write Now, Paws of Life Foundation, Special Equestrians, The Starlight Children's Foundation, The Native Voices Foundation, World Savvy, and many others.

Make the holidays happier for three worthy causes, while enjoying cash back rewards as you shop and dine at hundreds of South Florida establishments. If 1,500 new people join www.zavee.com by December 31, 2010, Forgotten Soldiers Outreach, The Milagro Center and the Delray Miracle League will each receive $500. Zavee LLC, based in Boca Raton, is a community-based Web site that offers cash back rewards to shoppers and diners who visit Zavee merchants. As part of their first Cause Challenge, they are pledging $1500 to these charities as a match for each new member signed up by the end of the year. It's free and easy to sign up. The donations will be awarded at La Cigale, a Zavee restaurant, in January at a party for the charities.

"We created this Cause Challenge to give everyone the opportunity to help charitable and non-profit causes this season," says Ron Stack, COO of Zavee. "Signing up for Zavee is a great way to both give back and get back at the same time. Joining now assures that these causes will receive our contributions, while new shoppers begin receiving cash back rewards."

Sign up now at www.zavee.com to help these causes:

Forgotten Soldiers Outreach, Inc., a 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization with the sole mission of shipping monthly "We Care" packages to our United States servicemen and servicewomen serving overseas. Since 2003, our goal has been to send that little bit of home to assure they are not forgotten. To date, FSO has benefited over 100,000 individual military personnel. Information: www.forgottensoldiers.org .

The Delray Miracle League is a charitable organization that provides children with mental and/or physical challenges an opportunity to play baseball as a team member in an organized league. The children are paired with able-bodied volunteer "buddies" who assist them in batting, catching, throwing and running. Every child gets a turn at bat and in the outfield and every child crosses home plate. The point of the game is less about baseball and more about fun! The benefits gained by everyone involved are tremendous. The child's self esteem grows, he or she makes friends, becomes less isolated and just becomes a regular kid, not a kid with a disability. Information: www.delraymiracleleague.com .

The Milagro Center, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, provides a superior arts education after school program to the children of Palm Beach County's most disadvantaged populations. Milagro, which means "miracle" in Spanish, is a unique arts-integrated educational and cultural arts facility which serves as a catalyst for community collaboration, individual transformation and social change by providing enriched learning opportunities. Information: www.milagrocenter.org .

About Zavee:

Zavee is a community-focused, "Social Living" site that benefits shoppers, merchants and charitable causes. Via the Web site and Facebook, shoppers learn about all the hottest deals and offers and are rewarded with cash back each time they shop and dine at Zavee merchants. They can then "socialize" their experiences by writing reviews about the merchants they just visited. Merchants benefit from Zavee's innovative marketing program, allowing each partner to tailor their deals, offers and loyalty programs to their customers' needs. And causes benefit from Zavee's unique Care Shares™ program that puts shoppers in control of Zavee's charitable donations. Visit www.zavee.com or via Facebook www.facebook.com/Zavee .
