Paragon Pools of Houston, Texas wins the BBB 2016 Pinnacle Award

HOUSTON, Texas -- Paragon Pools of Texas is the winner of the 2016 BBB Pinnacle award. Over the 9 years in business, Paragon Pools has become one of the elite pool builders in Houston. From humble beginnings, the 3 owners, Leo Kleiweg, David Pavlesic, and Dan Pavlesic, have taken great pride in their quality end product.

Their dedication and integrity has gained the trust of Houstonians' wealthiest homeowners and custom home builders.

"We consider ourselves a boutique builder...quality not quantity. Each project is unique and a work of art," says David Pavlesic.

He adds, "Because we choose to keep our staff small to maintain this level, we have to limit our clients to a manageable number. Our clients are now blended with a mix of wealthy homeowners and luxury custom home builders who ask us to design and build the perfect outdoor spaces to accent their homes and match their lifestyle.

"Our vision is growth -- not in company size, but in project size. To maintain the high level of quality we offer to clients, our company goal is not to add employees. Paragon Pools founders would not risk losing the high quality that has put us where we are today. Instead, we hope to offer our skill level and precision designs in larger, more intricate and intensive projects."

Paragon designers and founders stay in touch with the constantly changing looks, engineering, materials, and designs in the business. We plan to continue to offer and provide our unique product to the clients we work with. We have built and continue to build a level of trust in this industry that is second to none. Paragon will continue setting the highest standards and raising the bar in design and workmanship.

From the beginning, we have built our company on the highest of morals and integrity. Choosing and entrusting a pool builder is overwhelming. Common practice in the industry is to sell one thing and deliver another. We don't make false promises or exaggerate details.

We understand the large investment our clients are making in us and we honor their trust. The projects are handled from beginning to end by the same person...not handed off from the sales team, to the designers, to supervisors, to subcontractors, etc.

Each client becomes part of the Paragon Pools family. Learn more at: https://www.paragonpool.com/.

Show Employees You Care – Without Affecting Your Bottom Line

YARDLEY, Pa. -- After engagement, retention is the top talent management concern in today's global economy, according to the Human Capital Institute. That's why companies like Moby Lube - an on-site, mobile oil changing business - are growing and thriving in today's economic climate.

Moby Lube offers a unique benefit for employee cars and trucks that costs companies nothing, but saves employees time and hassle.

Kellie Zollers, vice president, human resources, Toll Brothers, Inc., says, "Offering our employees a 'convenience benefit' like Moby Lube, which keeps them happy and productive, was a no-brainer. The Moby Lube system is surprisingly easy to implement. I simply announced a date to all of our employees, and Moby Lube did the rest."

"It's really a win-win," Rick Lyons, director of operations for Moby Lube, says. "A convenience benefit is a great way to show employees you care, without affecting your bottom line."

And Moby Lube is able handle more than just oil changes. It offers preventive maintenance too. For example, while a Moby Lube technician was servicing a group at a corporate business park, the technician noticed a woman's brakes were in need of repair. The next month when Moby Lube returned, this same woman also scheduled a brake replacement. She never had to leave her desk. She was happy and so was her employer.

So, while perks such as movie tickets and flexible hours are nice, this mobile oil changing service is a benefit that really saves people time - something that no one ever seems to have enough of these days - and money. How? When multiple employees sign up, Moby Lube offers discounted prices.

About Moby Lube:

Founded in 2010, Moby Lube is fully licensed and insured. It services offices and company parking lots, plus fleets of vehicles such as large diesels and construction equipment. It is currently expanding services in Bucks County and Montgomery County, Pa., as well as Central and Southern New Jersey.

What Does an Award-winning Website Look Like?

CHICAGO, Ill. -- The Independent Publisher Book Awards presented the 20th annual IPPY awards in a special ceremony at the Willis Tower Skydeck. In the Best Publisher/Author/Book Website category, Snowflake Stories, LLC, created by San Fran developer James Stone, was honored with a bronze medal.

So what does it take to create an award-winning website? A lot, actually. Stone's challenge was to develop a website that would allow for the customization of Snowflake Stories' line of award-winning, bilingual personalized children's books. This was no easy task, as Snowflake Stories books are unlike other personalized books currently available.

When Snowflake Stories founder and Connecticut resident Jill Barletti set out to create books for kids, she truly believed that it shouldn't matter if a child has blue eyes or brown, speaks English or Spanish, or has a single mom or two; her books had to reflect all of those children. The solution? A book, customizable for one special child, which allows for the selection of characters (up to six), each of which is tailored so that the entire cast closely reflects the appearance of that child and his or her loved ones. Language(s) must also be chosen as the book is available in bilingual and single-language versions in any of five languages: English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, and Italian.

Stone created the publisher's site using ZURB Foundation's responsive framework, which allows the website to resize automatically for different screen sizes. One of the biggest challenges Stone faced was making the book customization process effortless. His innovative solution was to create the proprietary Character Builder, which allows visitors to the website to select each character's physical traits, such as skin color, hairstyle, and eye color, with a few clicks of the mouse. Instead of filling out a boring questionnaire, visitors to SnowflakeStories.com select and customize a book effortlessly and in just a few minutes. The real genius of Stone's work lies in the website's usability. Stone cooked up a way to see each character as it is built; and that's no small feat as some characters have over 6,000 possible combinations.

Another hurdle Stone thought he would face was finding an ecommerce partner that would allow a highly customizable product to pass through to the checkout process. However, FoxyCart was the perfect solution, as it supports passing custom data into its cart system, as well as providing advanced customization options.

Once the website was completed, Stone called in user interface designer Marcus Handa to give the website a more polished look. Handa liked the feel of the website's original design, which was reminiscent of paper dolls. He streamlined the site with light colors and thin dotted lines, resulting in a clean design while retaining a handmade feel. Although the judges' scorecards were not made public, the creative problem solving and emphasis on creating a great user experience are two of the distinguishing factors that likely helped to win the award.

Mike Smith Named Director of Finance of Four Seasons Compassion for Life

FLAT ROCK, N.C. -- Michael "Mike" Smith, M.B.A., and Certified Health Care Financial Professional (or CHFP), has been named director of finance with Four Seasons Compassion for Life. "First and foremost, everything I do is centered on patient care and the decisions we can make to improve patient care outcomes," he says. "When I explain finance in ways that make sense, from a place of understanding about effects on patient care, then leaders can begin to make the decisions they need to make."

Smith holds a bachelor of science in business accounting, or B.S.B.A, from Appalachian State University, 2009, and a master's in business administration from Charleston Southern University, 2011. He is a certified health care financial professional.

Using numbers and data to make good decisions strengthens departmental management and interdepartmental collaboration, he says. Plus, decisions are being made from a place of expertise about what is needed to co-create a quality care experience with patients and families.

"Thanks to Mike Smith, our leadership team is becoming very knowledgeable of their financials," says Chris Comeaux, chief executive officer of Four Seasons Compassion for Life. "We're doing a lot of education, and Mike's meaning-based approach contributes significantly and strategically to fulfillment of the Four Seasons mission."

A former data analyst and financial advisor, Smith joined Four Seasons finance team as senior accountant in 2012-14, then serving as accounting manager from 2014-15. After a brief stint as senior financial analyst at Mission Health, he returned to Four Seasons as director of finance in December 2015.

Smith attributes Four Seasons' leaders for modeling quality personal growth and professional development. Their influence has taught him how important it is to learn, grow, and apply new knowledge, he says, particularly in need based patient-centered care in the hospice, home, and palliative care arenas.

"We are very intentional about learning and growing," he says. "We're all caregivers on some level. This is my role, my purposeful work in fulfillment of this mission."

The benefit of care-centered decision making is increased value and a high quality of life experience for patients and families, says Comeaux.

About Four Seasons Compassion For Life:

Four Seasons Compassion for Life, https://www.fourseasonscfl.org/, is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with a dedicated team of health care professionals, social workers, spiritual care professionals and volunteers deeply committed to its mission of "Co-Creating the Care Experience." Nationally known for its leadership in innovative, quality hospice and palliative care services, and serving western North Carolina, Four Seasons is a former Circle of Life award recipient from the American Medical Association.

MNGOP Delegates Seek to Repudiate Donald Trump

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -- In an unprecedented move, officers and delegates within the Republican Party of Minnesota (MNGOP) have announced their intention to repudiate their party's presumptive nominee for president, organizing under the name Conservatives for Candidates of Character. At an upcoming meeting of the party's state central committee, the group will propose a prohibition on MNGOP expenditures in support of the controversial candidate.

"We want to send a clear message that Republicans in Minnesota categorically reject the divisive candidacy of Donald Trump," said Walter Hudson, a convention delegate and local officer appointed as spokesman for the group.

"Party unity is earned, not dictated," Hudson continued. "Since securing his role as the party's presumptive nominee, Donald Trump has neglected his responsibility to lead the party through persuasion, instead claiming that the election is about him. Trump and many of his supporters have expressed explicit disdain for the party and its elected representatives. Worse, the candidate has waffled on core conservative principles and conducted himself reprehensibly on the campaign trail."

A similar anti-Trump effort was defeated in Omaha on Saturday as Nebraska Republicans met for their state convention. However, Trump critics in the MNGOP believe their proposal will garner support.

"Trump won Nebraska with 60 percent of the vote," Hudson noted. "He came in a distant third here. Trump has struggled to secure committed national delegates in Minnesota."

Organizing under the name Conservatives for Candidates of Character, the group has set up a Facebook page and can be followed on Twitter @CCCMN16. They seek support from among MNGOP delegates and officers, and have a sign up form to that end linked on their Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/conservatives4character/ .

The MNGOP state central committee meeting will be held in Duluth on Friday, with the party's state convention set to follow that evening and throughout Saturday.

OpenClose and MCT Streamline the Loan Sale and Purchase Advice Process for Secondary Marketing Departments

NEW YORK, N.Y. -- MBA National Secondary Market Conference & Expo - OpenClose(R) an enterprise-class, multi-channel loan origination system (LOS) provider, announced that in conjunction with Mortgage Capital Trading, Inc. (MCT) it has developed a solution that normalizes and extracts a lender's committed loan sale and purchase advice data to be uploaded directly into OpenClose's LenderAssist(TM) LOS, thus eliminating significant manual intervention. Depending on the number of loans that have been executed, time savings can be reduced from days to minutes.

"We use MCT as our secondary marketing advisory firm and OpenClose as our LOS provider. The solution they jointly developed empowers us with an invaluable tool to slash the amount of time it used to take us to rekey committed loan data and purchase advice information from Fannie Mae," stated Dan Beam, senior vice president of capital markets at Firstrust Bank. "Given the number of trades we are doing in a particular week, the automation of this process can easily shave off what previously required dozens of man hours down to just minutes."

The solution works by MCT converting large committed loan sale reports or purchase advices into normalized datasets, which is then automatically transmitted to the lender for easy upload into OpenClose's LenderAssist(TM) LOS. All of this transpires with the simple click of a button.

"We want to do whatever we can to make our customers' jobs as easy as possible and this new capability delivers a tremendous uptick in efficiency, saving secondary marketing departments inordinate amounts of time which in turn reduces costs," says JP Kelly, president of OpenClose. "Whether our mutual customers upload a few dozen loans at once or hundreds of loans, it takes a fraction of the time it used to."

"MCT is committed to providing innovative solutions with our technology partners that enable work efficiencies and cost savings for our mutual clients. This interface delivers on that promise," says Chris Anderson, chief administration officer at MCT.

Weitz and Luxenberg, P.C. Sees Cancer Research Month As Ideal Time to Provide Free Access to Cancer Study Data

NEW YORK, N.Y. -- Weitz & Luxenberg, P.C. today said it agrees with Vice President Joe Biden that the lives of more cancer victims could be saved if cancer researchers were able to more freely access published studies and, most importantly, their underlying data.

The nationally known personal injury and mass tort law firm said it believes publishers of medical journals should make cancer research data available at no cost to any cancer researcher who wishes to view them.

Currently, cancer researchers are generally only able to read the published studies if they pay for them, and have virtually no access to the data supporting the studies, Weitz & Luxenberg, P.C. said.

Weitz & Luxenberg, P.C. said its views mirror Vice President Biden's recent calls, including, most recently at an April 20 cancer research conference in New Orleans, for such free access.

Shared Data Benefits Mesothelioma Patients:

Weitz & Luxenberg, P.C. said this desire to see cancer research improved is particularly timely because May is National Cancer Research Month in the U.S.

"We believe cancer research is incredibly important," the law firm said. "It is important to the lives of the 1.6 million people who the American Cancer Society estimates will be diagnosed in 2016 with one of more than 200 different types of cancer.

"Improved cancer research is also important to the approximately 14.5 million individuals who the American Association for Cancer Research classifies as cancer survivors.

"Better cancer research is particularly important to many of our clients. They are battling mesothelioma, one of the most aggressive of all cancers."

Weitz & Luxenberg, P.C. said the plight of individuals with mesothelioma is distressing because the cancer strikes only as a result of exposure to the toxic mineral asbestos.

"Mesothelioma is something that need never have happened to our clients," the law firm said. "While mesothelioma is incurable, it is totally preventable by avoiding exposure to asbestos. Such exposure occurred only because companies that manufactured and sold products containing asbestos were reckless in failing to warn workers of the hazard."

Cancer Research Critically Important to Veterans:

Weitz & Luxenberg noted that many stricken by mesothelioma became exposed to asbestos during their service in the U.S. Navy and other branches of the armed forces.

"We lament that, on this upcoming Memorial Day, while we honor the fallen veterans that sacrificed their lives to protect our country, so many who served have fallen victim to this fatal cancer that need never have attacked them," the law firm said.

Weitz & Luxenberg, P.C. explained that many warships built before the 1970s were laden with asbestos to provide fireproofing and insulation in crew quarters, galleys, engine rooms, boiler rooms, gun turrets, magazines and other vital areas.

Weitz & Luxenberg, P.C. said it is on behalf of veterans and all other mesothelioma patients that it is throwing its full support behind National Cancer Research Month and behind President Barack Obama's plans for a "cancer moonshot" effort.

The White House announced in February that it wants nearly $1 billion spent over the next two years on cancer research as part of this moonshot initiative, Weitz & Luxenberg said.

"We join the president and vice president in their expressed desire to make America the country that cures cancer once and for all," the law firm announced.

About Weitz & Luxenberg, P.C.:

Weitz & Luxenberg, P.C. is among the nation's leading and most readily recognized personal injury and consumer protection law firms. Weitz & Luxenberg, P.C.'s numerous litigation areas include: mesothelioma, defective medicine and devices, environmental pollutants, products liability, consumer protection, accidents, personal injury, and medical malpractice.
