A R T I C L E:

A total of 104 film and TV production personnel from key Hollywood unions and guilds, as well as current show staffers and freelancers, received official certification as qualified users of DAX, the industry's leading digital production workflow and media management application, during a free training session conducted Feb. 9, at Pickwick Gardens in Burbank.

The half-day DAX Certification Course provided information and training that allow certified users to utilize the increasingly important technology behind the highly secure DAX cloud-based asset management and collaboration system introduced five years ago under the company's former banner, Sample Digital, that has been adopted by most production studios and television networks and over 8,500 individuals in production.

Attendees included editors and assistant editors of the Motion Pictures Editors Guild, digital imaging technicians from the Local 600 cinematographers union as well as production coordinators, post production supervisors, music composers, and members of the Producers Guild (PGA). Networks and studios represented included CBS Television Studios, Warner Bros., Disney, Relativity Media, 20th Century Fox, AMC, A&E Networks, and the Los Angeles Film & TV Meetup Group, all current DAX users as well as many DAX first-timers.

"Amazing turn out - great to see such high interest in our perspective of the future in cloud based Postproduction workflow," said CEO Patrick Macdonald-King. "We believe the key to tomorrow's industry jobs is understanding the industry's new digital business model and mastering its emerging technologies, including our widely used digital workflow platform. We look forward to bringing this training to more members of Hollywood's production and post-production community as well as hosting a session in Toronto in the late spring."

Session attendees learned DAX 4.0 new features such as the Dashboard, which provides an easy way to view "new and unseen" content available to the user, the new Forum style, time code-based commenting system, updated review and approval tool, updated and more robust search and metadata tools, and the new DAX|MOBILE application which puts in place the DAX 4.0 features in the iPad application.

Instruction also included DAX basics such as the tools to manage, ingest and review digital assets and metadata from pre-production, dailies from production, cuts and sequences from editorial and post, through the distribution of video, images, and documents. Instruction also covered DAX|MOBILE™ with iDailies®, a mobile iPad application distributed via iTunes. The mobile application brings all the production tools and features of desktop DAX to the iPad. Attendees were provided with a DAX|CERTIFIED logo for their resumes and websites.

Shows currently using the DAX platform include: "Homeland," "NCIS," "New Girl," "The Walking Dead," "CSI," "American's Next Top Model," "Bones," "The Mentalist," "Two and a Half Men," "Glee," "How I Met Your Mother," "Dexter" and "Mad Men," and all of the pilots for CBS Television Studios, 20th Century FOX, and Warner Bros. Television Studios. Recent feature film productions include "Ides of March," "Hunger Games," "Dolphin Tale," "Alice in Wonderland," "Iron Man" and "Immortals," as well as many independent feature films.

An announcement will be made when the next DAX Certification Course is scheduled and DAX also plans to host courses at participating studios. Companies and groups wishing to arrange private training sessions are invited to contact info@daxcloud.com.

Adventure, Intrigue and Murder Surround the Life and Death of Aloha Wanderwell

Author: AlohaWanderwell.com

freeNewsArticles Story Summary: “Richard Diamond, founder of AlohaWanderwell.com, announced this week that June 4, 2012 marks the sixteenth anniversary of Aloha Wanderwell's death, the first woman to travel around the world in an automobile - a Model T Ford that she affectionately named 'Little Lizzie.' A R T I C L E:

Richard Diamond, founder of AlohaWanderwell.com, announced this week that June 4, 2012 marks the sixteenth anniversary of Aloha Wanderwell's death, the first woman to travel around the world in an automobile - a Model T Ford that she affectionately named "Little Lizzie." Aloha was 16 when she began this journey in 1922.

While a convent school student in France, Aloha responded to a newspaper ad enticing a young woman to be the recording secretary for an around-the-world expedition. This was the beginning of a remarkable life-long series of adventures, best summed up by Aloha in her unpublished memoir, "The Driving Passion."

Aloha traveled to 43 countries in four continents. She fell in love with her traveling companion, Captain Walter Wanderwell, and they married midway through their journey. In 1929, the initial expedition ended, but their adventures continued.

Next, the Wanderwells traveled to the Mata Grosso region of the Amazon basin, where their plane went down in the unexplored Brazilian jungle. Aloha remained behind with an indigenous tribe while Walter traveled back to civilization to secure replacement parts - a trek that took several months.

With their travels fully-documented in a film titled, "With Car and Camera around the World," they returned to the U.S. in 1931 to make plans for future expeditions, but tragedy and scandal struck. In 1932, Walter was shot and killed by an unknown assailant on the couple's 110-foot yacht - The Carma - in Long Beach, California. Aloha remarried and thereafter was known as Aloha Baker. She continued her adventures as an explorer, documentary filmmaker, author and lecturer.

"To capture this adventure and intrigue, I founded AlohaWanderwell.com to pay tribute to Aloha's life and times," Diamond, Aloha's grandson and conservator, says. "Currently, I'm working with Alan Boyd and the Boyd Production Group to transfer Aloha's nitrate films to HD and to preserve collectibles, photographs and documents."

Some of Aloha's films can be found in the Library of Congress; the Smithsonian; the Los Angeles Natural History Museum; and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Science.

A full-length documentary is also in the works. To watch a sample reel of "Aloha Wanderwell's Driving Passion," directed and edited by Alan Boyd, visit: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C01muLsvJ3g .

For more information, visit: www.AlohaWanderwell.com or http://www.facebook.com/AlohaWanderwell . An e-book on Aloha will be coming soon and updates will be provided.

Jackie Fame Joins Forces with The Weinstein Company to Promote the Movie ‘Bully’

Author: Jackie Fame, Inc.
Dateline: Los Angeles, California (LOS ANGELES, Calif.)  | Thu, 12 Apr 2012

freeNewsArticles Story Summary: “Jackie Fame, Inc. (FAME), the leading kid/teen social network www.JFame.com, is joining forces with The Weinstein Company to promote the movie 'Bully.' After much debate over the rating, the PG-13 version of the anti-bullying documentary will open in 115 theaters.”

A R T I C L E:

Jackie Fame, Inc. (FAME), the leading kid/teen social network www.JFame.com, is joining forces with The Weinstein Company to promote the movie "Bully." After much debate over the rating, the PG-13 version of the anti-bullying documentary will open in 115 theaters.

FAME and the AMC Cinema chain will sponsor several "Bully Movie Events" across the country, with selected theaters offering free admission to a one-night "Bully" awareness event - with the continued goal of involving parents, students, educators, and advocates in the movement to ending bullying.

In addition, with every "Bully" ticket purchased through www.MovieTickets.com FAME will provide a free download of its book "Kid2Kid, Keepin' it Safe Online" (ISBN: 978-0-675-50025-6) made available for the NOOK and Kindle eBook formats. "Kid2Kid" includes great advice for young people about staying safe online, and includes a chapter about preventing bullying in cyberspace and in everyday life.

"We are happy to join The Weinstein Company's 'Bully' campaign to help raise awareness about the serious effects of bullying. We hope to help inspire kids from around the world to stand up to bullying," said Zachary Swauger, age 13, FAME co-founder.

"This has always been a mission of the Jackie Fame network," added Joshua Swauger 11, FAME co-founder. "In 2011, we launched 'We Have the Power' at www.WeHaveThePower.net - a grass roots awareness movement about the terrible effects of bullying on school-aged kids. We recorded an original song, produced by DJ Boom and Hip-Hop recording artist G-Money. We wrote the lyrics to express how deeply concerned we are about bullying and its effect on our peers."

The FAME co-founders hope all school-aged kids and their parents will see "Bully" and join together in the fight to stop all forms of bullying.

About "Bully":

Directed by Sundance and Emmy-award winning filmmaker, Lee Hirsch, "Bully" is a beautifully cinematic, character-driven documentary. At its heart are those with huge stakes in this issue whose stories each represent a different facet of America's bullying crisis. "Bully" follows five kids and families over the course of a school year. Stories include two families who have lost children to suicide and a mother awaiting the fate of her 14-year-old daughter who has been incarcerated after bringing a gun on her school bus.

With an intimate glimpse into homes, classrooms, cafeterias and principals' offices, the film offers insight into the often cruel world of the lives of bullied children. As teachers, administrators, kids and parents struggle to find answers, "Bully" examines the dire consequences of bullying through the testimony of strong and courageous youth. Through the power of their stories, the film aims to be a catalyst for change in the way we deal with bullying as parents, teachers, children and society as a whole.

On Thursday, February 16, The Story Project, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to furthering communication and life skills in at-risk and under-served teens, will launch its "StoryTelling Series," a sequence of intimate moderated conversations with legendary filmmakers and artists. Todd Felderstein, The Story Project's executive director, is thrilled to have such Hollywood veterans make up our inaugural event.

This first evening of anecdotes entitled "Movie Producers," features producers Mace Neufeld (Invictus, Patriot Games, The Hunt For Red October), Denise Di Novi (Crazy Stupid Love, Edward Scissorhands, The Nightmare Before Christmas) and Victoria Alonso (Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, Avengers) and will be moderated by Peabody award winning producer Lea Thau of KCRW. These fundraisers will provide stories from the set often never shared in front of an audience.

Founded in 1998 The Story Project's successes are the direct result of a curriculum rooted in project-based media. Each and every one of our programs tackle everyday obstacles yet, when addressed through the entertainment-arts, these conflicts seem much more manageable. Through the span of a twelve to sixteen week semester the students strengthen, as a group: project management skills, creativity, practical knowledge with cameras, picture editing software, art-based media, and have a measurable improvement of hope as they discover their own personal journeys, one story at a time.

Aloha Wanderwell: First Woman to Travel around the World in an Automobile

What's blonde, blue-eyed, six-feet tall and looks like a leading actress? She's Aloha Wanderwell - the first woman to travel around the globe in a car; she was 16. And, AlohaWanderwell.com is dedicated to preserving her nitrate films, books and more.

It all started when Aloha read an ad in the Riviera edition of the Paris Herald: "Brains, Beauty and Breeches - World tour offer for lucky young woman wanted to join an expedition - Asia, Africa...."

She quickly set out to convince the expedition's leader, Captain Walter Wanderwell, that she was the one for the job.

"This true story of an incredible journey - the Wanderwell Expedition - took place in the 1920s. Over the years, it's been buried and now needs to be preserved and retold," says Richard Diamond, Aloha's grandson.

During this world tour, Aloha took thousands of feet of 35-millimeter nitrate film while driving though 43 countries on four continents in nearly eight years.

"These nitrate films have to be transferred to HD," says Diamond. "We need help now. This is a gold mine of material for any documentary or film producer. It would be a crime to let these historical films deteriorate. It's a rich part of history."

In addition, Diamond also possesses a 567-page manuscript written by Aloha that details the trip's many adventures; an array of collectibles; photos; and the original auto badges.

During the expedition, Aloha and Walter married. They continued to travel, to film and lecture together. In 1932, their story tragically ended with Walter's murder; it remains an unsolved cold case.

Aloha remarried and tended to her priceless collection of films, photos, journals and artifacts. Much of her work has been preserved in museums and educational institutions throughout the U.S. She passed away in Newport Beach, California on June 4, 1996.

"In addition to preserving these items, I believe that Ford has an amazing opportunity here," says Diamond. "Just imagine a modern-day Aloha retracing these steps in a Ford Explorer? It would be a wonderful way to pay homage to the very first 'Ford Challenge' - the intrepid 1918 Model T that Aloha referred to as her, 'Little Lizzie.'"

So, while the Model T that brought this couple together was not preserved, the story certainly can be.

Few knew, except for the late Samuel Z. Arkoff, this Indie's success story of a non-traditional genre for an Afro-American. Names like Spike Lee and John Singleton are not known for such special effects. Yancey Hendrieth, of Hendriethfilm, Ltd., Enterprises, is a new breed of black filmmaker, having more in common with Dino De Laurentiis and Peter Jackson, creators of two "King Kong" movies.

Anyone can preview a running time of 4:48, of Yancey Hendrieth's special effects on YouTube. Search: King Kong Horror Comedy by dinosaurmoviefans.

Quotes by Publisher Mike Federicks, Prehistoric Times Magazine Issue No. 87 Fall 2008: "LOST ON ADVENTURE ISLAND is a Dinosaur Movie, Sci-fi Fantasy, KING KONG Spoof, which has achieved International Recognition by the French Website: www.clubdesmonstres.com/lostonadventureisland.htm as a "Cult Horror Classic" among multi-million horror classics produced by Major Hollywood Studios and Critical Acclaim by THE 6th ANNUAL RONDO HATTON CLASSIC HORROR AWARDS."

DVD is available by distributors via http://www.dinosaurmoviefans.com . Yancey Hendrieth is owner of this website dba Hendriethfilm, Ltd., Enterprises. Anthony Hendrieth is brother and Co-Producer. Both were Connecticut natives. Yancey's "Cult Classic" was created by modest means without hydraulic engineering.

A KING KONG size gorilla hand was operated manually from off camera. Several visuals established this larger-than-life movie among those mysterious Easter Island stone heads carved by their lost civilization. Voluptuous Amazon Women rode bareback spirited stallions adding opulent production value.

These skilled ladies and trained horses were actually rodeo champions enhancing expert horsemanship to this "Conan"-style fantasy theme. Rondo Award Voters validated his collaboration by their nomination "Best Independent Production on DVD" and announcing among four honorable mentions "Best Independent Film."

Quotes by the late Samuel Z. Arkoff, producer of "Mad Max" and more Hollywood Films than anyone, are handwritten inside the cover of Yancey's most prized possession, "Flying Through Hollywood By The Seat Of My Pants," an autobiography: "Dear Yancey, It's been a good life for me in an interesting game. I'm delighted that you grew up watching my movies. In a sense, so did I. I wish you same kind of luck I've had. Best regards, Sam Arkoff."

Against all odds by modest means, Yancey Hendrieth is the First Afro-American Independent Outside The Hollywood Studio System using animation stop motion models, mechanical and visual effects in this KING KONG horror spoof.

The 6th Annual 2007 Rondo Award Nomination for his "LOST ON ADVENTURE ISLAND" has potential to attract studios to produce his pink female parody of THE HULK, entitled INCREDILE PINK WOMAN.

Yancey is represented by Entertainment Attorney Al Staehely Jr. (www.music-lawyer.com).

‘Blind Turn’ Movie Trailer Forecasts Sobering Thrills and Chills

Author: Point Zero Seven, LLC
Dateline: Longview, Texas (LONGVIEW, Texas)  | Fri, 11 Nov 2011

freeNewsArticles Story Summary: “Point Zero Seven announced this week the release of a new movie trailer for 'Blind Turn,' a psychological thriller that centers on drunk driving.”

A R T I C L E:

Point Zero Seven announced this week the release of a new movie trailer for "Blind Turn," a psychological thriller that centers on drunk driving.

According to the U.S. Department of Transportation, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, nearly 30 people die each day in motor vehicle crashes that involves an alcohol-impaired driver. This amounts to one death every 48 minutes.

In turn, Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) serve one victim or survivor of drunk driving every nine minutes.

"Drunk driving is a big problem in our society," says Jay Dee Walters, the film's co-star and executive producer. "We hope that this movie will not only entertain viewers, but also drive home a very important, take-away message."

"Blind Turn" stars Rachel Boston as Samantha Holt and Walters as Bruce Miller. Samantha has experienced a tragic event resulting from one too many cocktails at a Christmas party. Her seemingly perfect life has now taken a turn for the worse.

One year later, enter Bruce, Samantha's nemesis. He was once a devoted family man, but has now turned demented teacher of a valuable life lesson. He kidnaps Samantha and takes her hostage while administering a series of escalating sobriety tests. He wants to demonstrate the consequences of DUI and DWI. Powerful imagery accompanies many of the disturbing and chaotic scenes.

"The movie was originally named, 'Point Zero Seven' because Samantha blows this during her blood alcohol content (BAC) test, but as the film evolved so did the name," explains Walters.

For instance, on average, a BAC of 0.06-0.09 may alter a person's behavior to include blunted feelings, less social restraint and extraversion. And, it may affect reasoning, depth perception, peripheral vision and glare recovery.

In a nutshell, "Blind Turn" is about personal devastation, life and death decisions, guilt, regret and forgiveness. It is also about the inter-connectivity of the world and how personal decisions can affect innocent people.

"It's kind of like 'Hard Candy' meets 'A Christmas Carol,'" says Walters.

And while accidents may happen, so does revenge.

"Blind Turn" was shot in Shreveport, LA and is 86 minutes in length; the trailer simply teases and leaves viewers aching for more. It may be viewed on YouTube at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SfijY8gi_EY .
